  1. hmm...y do you say that joe? i guess you mean that soddy's passing attack will trouble the beavers. but it didn't really seem to do significantly much against OR, and their db's arent huge at all.
  2. yea JC i really agree with you there. the region 1 teams do not even begin to compare. you can see how much tighter region 2 is just be looking at the fact that 1st place Oak Ridge was 7-0 in region play and the remaining top four were all 5-2. in region 1 on the other hand, D-B was also 7-0, 2nd place Cambell Co. was 5-2, and both Karns and Sevier Co. finished 4-3 in region play. to get an even better idea of how good the teams are, 4th place in region 2 was Ooltewah with an overall record of 8-2 while 4th place in region 1 was Sevier Co. with an overall record of 6-4. Karns, who took 3rd in their region finished 4-6 overall. so just from that alone it is easy to see that region 2 was a tougher, more dominant region than region 1, atleast for this year. also, I know that cambell co. has never been to the playoffs. but who is the other team you mentioned. Karns I guess. I didn't know they had never been either, but that's great for both of them. oh and I was wondering...what does IMO mean exactly???
  3. just curious...anyone have any information on isang? i know he's not going to be playing obviously, but how good is he recovering. can he walk? crutches, wheelchair? i just haven't heard specifics from back home. get well ee-sang
  4. i hope he's joking too. otherwise he would just be retarded. 9 overtimes? scores in the 80's and 90's? honestly, what is the point here???
  5. chrisburr....are you saying that all of those games are going to 3,4,5 and even 6 overtimes??? and why are the scores so high: riverdale 99, db 98??? i think im reading your post wrong, and i also think that it is ridiculously confusing. besides, the second round isnt called quarterfinals, its just the second round. similarly, the third round is not the semifinals it is the quarterfinals, the fourth round is not the finals it is the semifinals, and the fifth round is the finals, not just ambiguously called "the championship."
  6. hmm...last year's nailbiter? the reg season db-or game could be said to be a nailbiter, but i think you are thinking of the 4th round bout between Oak Ridge and Riverdale. either way, this is going to be a good playoff year. i wish friday nite was every nite...
  7. Okay fellas, lets go ahead and analyze these first few rounds coming up for region 1 and 2. real quick just for reference... Region 1 1. Dobyns-Bennett 2. Campbell County 3. Karns 4. Sevier County Region 2 1. Oak Ridge 2. Soddy Daisy 3. Farragut 4. Ooltewah okay, so now the line up for week one... Ooltewah at D-B Farragut at Campbell Co. Karns at S-D Sevier Co. at OR Alright now that the boring stuff is over (the season, ha, just kiddin) we can get to the playoff predictions. First off the ones that, knock on wood, should be obvious. Oak Ridge should trounce a significantly weak, atleast by past standards, Sevier County at the 'Ship. AP State number 1 and east Tennessee powerhouse Dobyns-Bennett shouldn't have much trouble putting away 8-2 Ooltewah, whose win over Soddy Daisy can be partly attributed to things like a blocked kick returned for touchdown. The other two games aren't so cut and dry. I'm thinking that Soddy will edge out Karns. I mostly think that because of Soddy's stiff performance the past few seasons as well as Karns' lackluster history. But atleast one Region 1 team is making people forget about their past. Campbell Co. has, correct me if I'm wrong, broken school records for having the best record in school history and making it to the playoffs for the first time...ever. Keeping this in mind, they are still Campbell County, and that's why I think the Farragut at Campbell Co. match-up will be the toss-up for week 1. As a matter of fact, I will go ahead and pick the Cougars to win this one, and I would like to see them go as far as they can, until the meet Oak Ridge of course. Now for a more generic prediction of the rest of the race. If that all holds true, which I believe most of it will, it would pit D-B against Soddy and Oak Ridge versus either Campbell Co. or Farragut, both of which Oak Ridge has the capacity to defeat. Of course Kingsport probably won't lose to Soddy, so then we'd see a repeat of last season, bringing the Indians back to the 'Ship for a rematch. I've got to go with the Cats if that occurs. So if I'm still 100% come 4th round, Oak Ridge would once again meet up with the victor out of Region 3 & 4, and I have no reason to believe that it won't be Riverdale for a revenge match. Interesting twist, this game would be played in Murfreesboro this time around. Yet again I will have to pick Oak Ridge, as you will see I do any day of the week. And then it's a week of the greatest and most nerve-racking practice ever, pre-finals practice, before another journey to MTSU to play in the big one, which I pick them to win Welp, that's about all I have. Of course what is so great about the playoffs is that anything can happen...lock n load time, ride or die, whatever catchy urban phrase you choose, it's sudden death from here on out. But yep, you heard it here first, Oak Ridge wins 5A! Now, response and/or comment.
  8. hmm, unfortunately i have to say i can see where yeahIMafool is comin from...the student section has been dwindling the past year or so...i mean there are lots of kids but sometimes they dont really pay attention to the game until its down to the wire, so they dont help as much as they could. but dont get me wrong im OR all the way, and there are still those thousands of old OR vets...haha, guess im one of those now tho. gotta love oh and hey, i think you know that that early db game meant a whole lot more than nothing...ne or-db game is huge and more often than not gets top billing in all the local papers. dont be so absurd. one more thing. oak ridge will win:)
  9. yeaaa i love it to get a rebel fan throwin up support for OR...that early season maryville game was always ominous for us. i love maryville and still cant believe they got beat and didnt make it 4 in a row last year. but man, talk about a tradition.
  10. oh wow i remember that, it was crazy, last year, ya, we won. and tradition is important...no one is sayin "we won alot before so we will win now"...well some people do say that, but most just mean that discipline and prestige that a program has when they are referring to tradition. i mean, theres gotta be some benefit to winnin all those games right? and yes, there are some dumb fans that get on here and talk trash from OR alot, but the team and coaching staff are the complete opposite for the most part, and i would know... but i dont wanna be accused of bein a crazy Oak ridger talkin noise on coach t, so ill leave yall with this....
  11. man that is def true...he stuck me many a time a practice i wont lie talkin about spencer gulmire that is...jersey #1 fer the 3 people in TN that haven't heard of him ha
  12. Okaay lets go ahead and close this one off, game was over last night. All I got to say is to all the DB fans saying that OR talked about winning before the game...obviously this is going to happen. I've never seen a team or coaches go into game stating, "Well, really this team is better and we will probably lose" because is they did that more than once they would probably be out of there real fast. And also something that is standard is the fact that fans from each side are going to put their spin on everything. DB says the officiating was bad, OR says there were cheap shots...this is football and it's always gonna be this way. But I don't think anyone would have it any other way. This was a great game, and could be another great game if it works out like last year...who knows? Looks like the standard rule held true: with even matched teams whoever has least turnovers should win. Good luck DB, but as always I'm OR 100%.
  13. Hmm, okay first of all I did listen to the entire game and as anyone will tell you who did the same it was not a butt whooping. The game was actually really close until around the 4th quarter when Oak Ridge started tiring out. I played the past 3 years and I know that this years two-a-day schedule was a lot easier than I ever remembered, and the lack of conditioning came out a little against a good D-B team. But I never make excuses. OR had several chances, it just wasn't meant to be. And to everyone else, it is still extreeeemely early to be hollerin out STATE just yet....
  14. welp looks like this one is pretty much over....still cant believe i didnt getttin to watch it, it was a tense game ther for a while, even if the final score doesnt show it...welp, the season is still young boys, dont fret
  15. db 1st down 3 minutes this is bout done, it was a good game sorry the radio stoppd wurkin i started gettin insta-feed from a friend there on the phone after i realized the radio was bout 1 minute behind db drives 48-31 2:11 left

  17. Man I knew I should have skipped class to drive up for the game....what a night!!! 34-31 db at the moment
  18. DB throws int, OR turns around and throws one that is returned for a TD DB misses xp 20-14 DB
  19. Spencer Gulmire on the TD run, what the heck was I thinking? This game is long from over, D-B just came outta the gate a lil quicker. But these Wildcats got a fury....
  20. ya, db is lookin, er uh sounding good, or not so much but its still early football fans Whaaat!!! 2tds in less than 6 minutes!! scratch that first statement, im gettin nervous...
  21. Heeeeeere we go, everybody's packing in the 'ship, band's playin, first Oak Ridge home game, #2 D-B vs #3 OR, 16-15 series record with OR in the lead, won of the biggest rivalries in Tennessee, the lights are shining, wildcats walking down the steps with the train whistle ringing, oh lord I wish I could be there. But that's why Al Gore invented the internet so I'll just have to settle for prepradio and good ole coacht. Welp, Clary says 'we are just moments away from kickoff so I'm gonna grab a drink and some chips and listen in. OH man I can't believe I can't see it. Oh well, roooool wildcats roll!!!
  22. boyfromsi....its Andy Shattuck, not Shadduck....cmon, I know shine knows how to spell his boy's last name
  23. Whooow, I hate it for my boy Shattuck, but Clinton is no doubt gonna have a hard time even looking like a competitor for Oak Ridge tonight. Good luck to both though, nothing but love!! .....what a way to start a football season.....
  24. Okay I don't know if anyone will see this since no one is probably checkin out this thread anymore, but a lot of people had questions about why we switched quaterbacks there towards the end. Scott (#8) wasn't hurt, well he was banged up but nothing more than usual...not enough to have to sit out. We have, had, a package called 'Fast Break' and that's what you saw. Basically we take out some of the slower people, some lineman, some backs, and the quarterback and replace them with people who are more athletic. At the first of the season Corey Booker went in as a sort of QB/ Runningback (kinda like the old single-wing offense of the old days), but this didn't work very well and Booker had a few INTs. About midway through the season the coaches put Cody Cofer in at QB for the Fast Break package. The idea is just that we were trying to get someone with a little more agility. Well that's that, no opinions there just letting ya'll know exactly what that was all about........... good luck Riverdale
