  1. I agree that there should be some type of evaluation for referees...just because we are single A schools instead of AA or AAA doesn't mean we should have to put up with refs like that.
  2. The first technical on Columbia Academy's coach was because the ref happened to be walking by him as he said something to the effect of "don't lose this for me now". He was talking to one of his players who had just missed a lay-up. The ref t-ed him up and said that he wasn't going to lose anything for him. CA's coach tried to explain that he was not even talking to him, but that he was talking to his players. The second tech was then called because he forgot to sit down after the first one was called. The CA boy's coach then took over at the bench and pulled out a win for CA. I agree that the officiating as a whole was quite ridiculous. There were numerous fouls missed on both ends and several that were called as fouls, but obviously weren't. Another thing too is that the ref that called the tech the first time had been on the opposite side of the court until he saw that CA's coach was getting upset, he then got all the officials together and switched their positions (putting himself in front of the CA bench). After he called the technical foul he then went back to the opposite side of the court (which he had been on earlier) for the remainder of the game. Also #23 from Clifton (Lacy Allen) was sent to the hospital with a neck injury, which was later turned out to be a stinger. Both teams played a hard fought game...great job ladies!
  3. In the Columbia Academy vs. Clifton game last week no CA player "took a swing". I was at the game and #25 from Clifton was sitting on top of a CA player's head and wasn't getting up even after the refs blew a whistle, so another CA player pushed her off of her teamate and got a technical called on her for it. Also, later in the game, #25 from Clifton got frustrated and grabbed a CA player's jersey and threw her down (I have seen the film, she did actually throw her down to the ground). The CA player retaliated by pushing her twice, and two technicals were called on her and she was also suspended for two games. She has now served her two game suspension and will be playing with the Lady Bulldogs tonight against Summertown.
