  1. DCCATVOICE, If you need a sub, please let me know, Swampy, jr. I can prolly handle it
  2. Hear, Hear, DCCATVOICE. It seems to me that I a person can attend school any place that they wish to attend. If you can play ball more power to you and maybe they would rather be coached by someone that can coach and knows the game, no matter where that would be. DCCATVOICE, I heard a rumor that you were feeling under the weather today. Guess you had a quick recovery.
  3. Right on Govman, If you check back, you will send that I said Wm. Blount will surprise some teams. No doubt they will destroy Clinton in my opinion. The only two teams in District 3 that will be able to compete will be Oak Ridge and Powell and Powell will handle Oak Ridge. There are several teams in District 4 that will be tough to handle on any particular night. Those would be Sevier Co. (still the class of Region 2 until someone proves otherwise), Heritage, Wm. Blount, Farragut, Maryville. Those 5 are all going to be plenty tough.
  4. I was not referring to Oak Ridge when I said they would prolly go 1-3, although they might. I was speaking of Victory Christian, sorry for the mix-up
  5. True, Oak Ridge did beat Victory Christian. If they are the 23rd best team in the county then that doesn't say much for the poll. First of all their competition is very weak, through no fault of their of own and they don't shoot the ball very well. Coach does an ok job. but with those two big girls he could have an awesome post game, instead he chooses to let them do there own thing. I predict that will go 1-3 in Phoenix as they are in the big dog division. Back to the poll thing, they don't really have any credability on a national basis. It's hard to compare teams in high school from all over the country. But I'm sure the fans love it as it gives all the so called experts something to talk about. It doesn't really matter if Heritage was a Hall of Fame game or not. A loss is a loss and I'm sure Coach Prudden considers it a loss. Just like when you play at a tournament like Greeneville, you only have to count 3 games towards your total of games played even if you play 4 or more. I'm sure if they had beaten Heritage then everyone would have wanted to count it as a win in their total record. Can't have it both ways. Just some fuel for the fire for all the experts.
  6. Sixteen teams and Greene County Bank has been the major sponsor in the past and is this year also.
  7. Arnwine, you may be correct about Farragut and Wm. Blount. But in the games that I have seen, Farragut plays really hard even though that are not loaded with alot of talent. I think they may surprise some people. Wm. Blount is kind of in the same category, being young and unproven. But they may give some teams a few surprises. As for Clinton, have seen them 3 times and they are terrible. Have not won a game. Have two good players that could use some coaching. You are probably right about Oak Ridge, they have no depth are about as slow as they have been in the past 15 years. I was listing the teams that I thought would be better than the middle of pack and below. It seems to me that Oak Ridge has already faltered as they lost to Heritage in the opener. I would say that the top 2 teams from region 2 AAA would be Powell and Sevier County. If they get in opposite brackets in the Region tournament that will be the regional final and both will make the substate round.
  8. One player does not a team make
  9. The entire problem begins and ends with the parents. Most have unrealistic expectations for their children and if they don't get the pt, then it is on to someplace else. A good player will be found by the college coaches no matter where they play. Most parents cannot stand to see their precious darling sitting on the bench or playing a back-up position or even a role player on a really good team. They all think their little baby is the best thing since sliced bread or in door plumbing. Maybe the games should be played without the parents in attendance. Kids would prolly be much happier. Anyway, just a thought.
  10. Boy this is a tough one to figure out. I am not sure that Heritage plays enough defense to stop SC. Who is going to stop Broyhill? I think the Uner and McMahon matchup should be about even, that is if they even guard each other. When all is said and done and all things being equal SC should prevail but who knows.
  11. Huck, You are so right. Newman is the difference. I feel that she is a better athlete and player than Fuller. Also, believe she will be more of a factor at the next level. Could it be another SCHS coddled star turns out to be a flop at UT. Only time will tell. She may not last a full year. Who knows.
  12. ORCAT, For what its worth, here is my opinion on the best and worst in the East Tn area: Best, Sevier Co, Powell, Heritage, Oak Ridge, Wm Blount, Farragut, Greeneville, Bradley Central, this is in no particular order. Each and everyone of these teams could advance beyond the regional tourney and they is really what it is all about. Instead of saying worst, lets just say teams that are looking to be better than last year. On second thought, I would prefer not to list anyone in this category. Also, all of the teams that I have listed are AAA. I did not mean to slight anyone, but I just don't watch much girls bball in the A and AA division. I do know that Oliver Springs will be strong again in AA along with Seymour.
  13. Dirty, The 6 ft. sophomore that you are referring to is prolly KeKe Stuart. She had a fairly successfull freshman season. Some of it was due to the presence of a senior post player and senior pt. guard. She will have to go it alone this year and it remains to be seen how she will adapt without help in the post. I would imagine that coachs Prudden and Tisdale will come up with a plan.
  14. From what I have observed, Clinton has three players, Tiffany Rodd, Alisha Brown, and Lexie Smith. I am not sure of the first names. If I missed those, please accept my apologies Clinton Fans. On the OR side, the key players are Jennifer Hendrix, Stefanie Holbrook, Karmen Smith and KeKe Stewart. It should be a rat killing by OR, but you never know since it is Clinton vs. OR.
  15. They may or may not win it all. We will just have to wait and see. Probably way overrated, but, of course that is just an opinion as I am sure someone will point out. Lets see what happens when they get to Phoenix. Also, do they have any players to go with Newman and Fuller. Just a thought
  16. I have seen both of them play and it should be schs by as much as they want to win by. Both overrated, but Lawrence Co. moreso than Shelbyville
