  1. Yes it has been a long time, but now that I know BCB has put a fee on that cute little dilly - I'm removing it! I've really enjoyed some of the BCB posts and really don't need BCB mad at me!!!! Ohhh so sorry to hear about that stint in the ER! It is so disappointing to hear that any wrestler would be bragging about hurting (accidently or otherwise) another wrestler. That is just so sad. I hope all is well by now and that he is back on the mat making them all toe the line now! I'm off for now... hope to see lots of folks at the GP West Tournament! Okay let's see if I can find another cute little dilly for me.... /blush.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="" border="0" alt="blush.gif" /> /blush.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="" border="0" alt="blush.gif" />
  2. You all are cracking me up! Fiscus told me that I needed to come check this thread out... You know since I don't have a dawg in the fight anymore I don't keep up with all the chatter any more. Who would have thought that a little 6 team tournament would grow into 20+ teams. Wow! Say what you will, but Randy Stevens at Freedom can draw a gym full of sweaty little wrestlers and all their families the 2nd Sat in December every year... After the turn out from the last two years, I think I have convinced Randy to go to a 2 day tournament next year. This will eliminate the 5 match rule that we have hit for the last 4 years. Yes, I do have all the paperwork and for the last 4 years it has been an issue. Jose - the tournament is insured through the WMAA, which follows the TSSAA rules - thus the 5 match limit. There were a lot of folks who were upset when little Johnny didn't get to keep wrestling. However, if you will join me down memory lane - there were tournaments not so long ago that we were just tickled to get 3 matches. Imagine getting 5 matches! It was awesome! It was bumpy starting out, but I blamed it all on those boys who didn't make weight and begging their coaches to bump them. Once we got started rolling we ran 'em hard and got 'em outta there. It was great event with only a couple of serious injuries. Now the interesting part is the majority of these injuries were in matches 4 or 5 of the day for the wrestlers - so, is there a link to the amount of wrestling or just the intensity? Ya'll have fun and I'll see you mat side somewhere! /roflol.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":roflol:" border="0" alt="roflol.gif" />
  3. I don't know much... nearly 200 competitors... Bradley, Cleveland, Father Ryan, Christian Brothers, Brentwood, Ravenwood, Cordova, Blackman to name a few of the teams that I saw while I was there briefly this morning. I'm sure Jose or Tommy will get results posted as soon as they can pull them together.
  4. I haven't been planning on attending for various reasons. Brad is taking some of the Centennial boys over, so I may go over as moral support. It's always a great event, but after helping to run it for the last two years, I'm ready to hand off that responsibility. Maybe I'll see you there!
  5. No HS Singlets - that is a Ronnie Carter rule. However in prior years (all 2 of them) there have been a few that wore them wrong side out. It depends on the officials.
  6. Participants must attend Tennessee High Schools. This is the TN State Fresh/Soph Championships.
  7. It was great to see the Baucke brothers win this year! I know their parents are so proud. I remember the first time I met Brian and his boys when they were just little guys. It's wonderful to remember them when and see them now. Brian - you've done a great job with your boys and so many others. Thank you for all you do for the kids in your area as well as across the state!
  8. LOL - I used the phrase 'calling me out' very loosely! You have no idea the things that have been said to me over this ordeal. I'm just glad the season is over and hopefully folks can move on and let it all rest. I'm in no way upset with you! I was trying to answer a lot of the questions/comments that had been posted by several, not just you, when I replied. I do have Children's Aspirin, but I use it for my dog who suffers with arthritis in her hips! Thanks for the suggestion, but when I'm upset I need something a LOT stronger... I was wanting those who were upset about what the Dad wore to get over it... You are correct you were not the one who brought that up. As far as Mr Coffee going over the ropes - security was there and if the officials wanted them involved I'm sure they would have gotten involved. I understand there were no other parents that went on the mats. Yes, the ref should have taken control of the situation and the folks at the media table should have stayed out of it. I'm calm, to bad I don't have any magaritas made tonight - I'd sure pass you one too! See ya mat side somewhere!
  9. Hoosierdad - take a look at my previous post, just above your last one - it looks like were were both posting about the same time. Didn't want you missing it and think that I was avoiding your questions...
  10. Okay, now that I've been called out.... According to Brad - there was someone at the media table telling him to get Mr. Coffee off the mat. (Yes, I've told Brad that he only answers to the officials, not some person at the media table!) He laid his hand on Mr. Coffee's shoulder and he flinched, causing Brad to jump back. Mr Coffee did not strike out or say anything inappropriate. Come on if anyone else was that close when Mr. Coffee flinched like that, you would've jumped back too! However, Brad did tell me that he could hear what Mr. Coffee was saying to his son, as could the officials. The officials did not say a word to Brad about moving this man from the mat. Mr. Coffee loves his son and all his children. Courtney was heart broken and his Dad was saying all the right things to encourage him to get up and shake Mr. Lettner's hand. If you had seen them under the bleachers after the match or in the stands before or after you would know that Mr. & Mrs. Coffee are good folks and love their children. As for the letter jacket - get over it! Courtney played football at JP2 this year and it was his jacket that his Dad wore. During Region 7 his Dad wore his football jersey. No one had an issue with it there! The guy is proud of his son regardless of where he played football or wrestled. Now then, I want to say one more thing - Mr. Shane Turner - Brad respected you as a coach when you stood in his corner when traveling and he respects you so much more after being in the other corner. Thank you for being such a great role model to my son! See ya on the flip side!
  11. Excellant post Brian! You have stated what I have always thought. I've seen some of the quite actions that Gab has taken with his kids over the last few years and you are so right - His first priority is these kids. Everyone can speculate about this or that when he does something, but I know the bottom line will always be his wrestlers. Keep up the good work at Sunset. You had a really good crew this first year and I'm expecting to see great things from your program. Miss Ellie
