That's cool... Yeah, I was thinking about doing athletic training or sports medicine. I hope to get back into things as well but, like yourself, I have a shotty shoulder!!! Well, take care of that shoulder man. I may drop in for a game or two... see if you've taught them anything. (how does it go again... top of fist, middle & index finger, then pinkie & index finger???) haha Later
  2. NOLE, you bring truth and humor to the board... That's funny right there! Why would you ragg a guy who will be throwing a hard object @ you @ a high rate of speed?? Keep "battling" guy's!!!!!!!!

How have you been NOLE??? I wish I could come back for another season (I hate that graduation rule!!!) My girlfriend says "HI" if you've figured out who I am yet...and yes, we could trade for a week or two..haha. Do you still do any work for those lovely ladies @ UT??? Teach those guys about that standing green(I read your other posts(I tended to do that anyways)) Who is coaching G-Vegas this year...same as last???? Well, I'll drop you a few lines when I agree with you "coach".. Later
  4. Sure they will be ok without him however, it changes how their(Harriman) game is played. I don't see Harriman taking the district but, best of luck to the devils.

Hey NOLE how are things in G-Vegas. Yeah, I feel that Greenback will take home the district title this year and put up some suprise victories this season however, the state run goes through Rockwood and I don't think Greenback can get over the hump they have battled for the past couple of years....Hey NOLE, I still can't do that stupid ball trick you showed me. Best of luck to G-Nation this season.
  6. He has an attitude.....that's funny,,,well the "ego" has landed hasn't it..lol. It's hard to compete with a team that has little to choose from when it comes to athletes...besides Greenback is a 1-a football school(not baseball like sweetwater.) How many kids go to sweetwater??? I think Greenback "may" have 240 students @ most. Sooo, who are those guys that are way better than Helton ...maybe "yourself???" What were your stats last season wildcatplaya#5 & #21
  7. Very true Nole...I had the chance to start beside Trae for the last 3 years in the infield. He is a true player, not just in baseball but in Football and Basketball as well. He is a great athlete and I think his true talent is on the football field. Good Luck in College "Goose"!!!!!!!!!!! I wish you could have come to Panama City with me and the boys of 03' #11
  8. Sweetwater will come away with the county title this year....how many years have they done that now?????
  9. I doubt that Midway or Greenback can pull out the upset but remember what happened a couple of years ago.....A 20+ win Greenback team came into the toury at CAK as a huge favorite and lost to a horrible Midway team and ended their season on a losing skid (Thats what I love about these tourys, it's anybodys game)....Best of luck to the entire district....Hope district 3-A takes care of district 4-A... Question?? Why does district 4a have a strong group of teams(Harriman,Rockwood,Wartburg, ect) this year??? It seems like they all have been able to win this year.!?.!?.......???
  10. Very true ETHSATC...good post!!! I will have to say that the Cosby and CAK rivialry is becoming great entertainment:) I would have to take Rockwood @ home, CAK @ home, and Cosby @ home...For 1a sports, these places provide great atmosphere for basketball and these teams play great on their home court. I feel that Cosby will take their district due to homecourt advantage"Cosby always comes to play during the toury." Rockwood will take home their district and I think Cosby and Rockwood will meet for the region championship. CAK has a great team but, this season has shown that home court does make a difference. I wouldn't take CAK out of the title game but, as everyone knows, the road to the championship is a long one.
  11. What does all of this mean for private schools?????? TSSAA TO COUNT PRIVATE SCHOOL ENROLLMENTS AT HIGHER RATE New rules approved by the Tennessee Secondary School Athletic Association will determine classification for private schools by multiplying total enrollment by 1.8. Public schools won't use a multiplier, meaning that some private schools will begin competing against larger institutions in higher classifications. The decision is part of an ongoing struggle between public and private schools over competitive advantages that public schools believe private ones hold. The TSSAA Board of Control voted 6-3 Monday to implement the multiplier rule before determining where athletic teams will be placed in the next classification period that begins in fall 2005. "There was a sense that something was going to be done," TSSAA Executive Director Ronnie Carter said. "There's nothing magical about 1.8." The TSSAA voted in 1996 to split private schools that offer financial aid from public schools, setting up two divisions. In 1998, administrators overwhelmingly disapproved of putting all private schools in a division, regardless of their financial aid status. But in 2002, representatives from all state schools voted overwhelmingly for it. Since then, the legislative council has voted not to change the current format -- most recently a 5-4 decision in December. The multiplier will be applied to all sports but will affect football most. One of the schools that will have to make the biggest jump in football is Class 2A state runner-up David Lipscomb. The 2002 champions will likely move up to 3A in this classification period and 4A by fall 2009. "It's a tough situation anytime you're trying to level the playing field," Lipscomb football coach Glenn McCadams said. "We had suggested all along that 1.5 be the maximum fair number for a multiplier, because that's the highest anywhere else in the nation." Lipscomb could have been forced to move up to 4A immediately but will benefit from a stipulation attached to the multiplier rule that no school will be forced to move up more than one classification during any four-year period. "But by putting in the protection clause, I think that speaks to the fact that the board did hear our concerns. They were listening," McCadams said. Lipscomb's top-rival, Goodpasture is also currently in 2A, but will be near the enrollment number that could force the school into 3A. Either Goodpasture or Lipscomb has been to the 2A title game eight of the last 10 years. The teams have combined for five titles in those eight years. A handful of public schools can expect some class shuffling as well. The 2A additions will result in several schools near the cutoff line dropping to 1A. That pool of potentials includes Trousdale County, Richland and Westmoreland. "Anything the TSSAA did would have benefited us," said Westmoreland football Coach Jackie Kelley, whose team is in the same region with Lipscomb and Goodpasture. "I feel like it will help our football program. ... If we (moved to 1A) that would get us to playing some people around here that hopefully we could be more competitive with." 2/10/2004 3:02:16 PM Reporter: Associated Press Copyright
  12. Great win for CAK...too bad that district tourny is up @ Cosby...home court always makes a difference:)
  13. I would have to go with Cosby by 14. I don't think that the home court will make a difference for CAK. Cosby has to much of a inside presence to just defend the 3-ball. I will take Cosby for district 3-A champs...(Cosby will go to state but make an early exit(1st round))...just a prediction
  14. Hey coachc....I'm not saying that it's just poor, small, "Tennessee" schools that have this problem...I'm sure that all small schools in all 50 states have this problem. Coachc, which states have good gene pools(FL,CA,MI,GA???) What dictates a good gene pool for a state...I played against guys who have went on to play D-1 from Tennessee.
  15. Does anyone have any comments about the article on coacht about the struggle for small schools(1A) to get colleges to look @ their athletes??? What schools have this problem??? Prospects at larger schools usually play tougher schedules, which makes it more difficult for small-school prospects to boost their stock. Mt. Pleasant Coach Walt Smith hopes that won’t hurt junior Jamarcus Webster’s chances at a scholarship next year. Webster (6-3, 215) is a big-play wide receiver with 4.5 speed in the 40-yard dash. “It’s a little bit harder for the smaller schools to get noticed simply because colleges look at it like, ‘Well, they’re playing weaker competition,’ ” Smith said. “Really, the difference to me is the depth of talent. A 4A school may have six guys that can play in college whereas a single-A school might only have one. But that one may be better than anyone on that 4A school.” Tennessee tries to make an appearance at every school in the state, but that’s a difficult objective since there are 303 schools with football programs. “I can understand from a recruiter’s standpoint why they visit big schools more,” Collinwood Coach Michael Statom said. “Those guys can go into a 4A-5A school and there is a larger percentage of kids that are going to go on and play college football there. That one stop nets them more contacts than it would if they came to a little single-A school out in the middle of nowhere.” Ezell-Harding has enjoyed a lot of success in Class 1A, but even the Eagles have had troubles earning college scholarships. “I would say that many times the size of the school and the (single) A that’s in front of the football causes kids to get overlooked,” Eagles Coach Scott Smith said. “They have a lot more to prove. We’re not playing Riverdale every day, but we do have kids who can play college football. For lack of a better term, there is a prejudice against being in a small school.” Larger schools naturally get more college scholarships, but there are plenty of small-school kids who go big time.
  16. Hey Dalton91...Did you go to or now attend CAK...the reason I ask is because your first post on this topic refered to Greenback as "G-Nation." I know people in Greenback call it "G-Nation" or "G-Vegas." Just wondering if your from G-Nation or have heard someone call it that???
  17. If I were CAK I would let those who receive financial aid play anyways.....then people would come to see great players play. This would bring more money to the school and cover the aid the student was given. (Because in the end it is always about the money anyways haha.)
  18. Not in all cases. I had the chance to attend 2 different High Schools. I lived so close to one school which was out of district that I attended it anyways. I was supposed to attend a school that was 25min away but I didn't have to go because they didn't provide transportation in my area(I didn't need it but it kept me from driving so far every morning:). I do know of people who have transfer without change of addy but Hey, that happens in public and private schools. ///// Does CAK not allow players who receive aid to play sports because of the question of recruting?? Does anyone know if that applys to all schools???
  19. Sorry I'm not a big fan of private schools or recruiting "Students"I"M NOT SAYING PLAYERS AT ALL. I just wanted to let any viewers that might not have seen the article in the Daily Times have the chance to see what people were talking about. I wanted to let everyone know the facts about private schools(60% of private school enrollment compete in sports compared to 30% of public school enrollment, fifty-eight public schools were a combined 0-221 vs. private school competition in the study, private schools have won the last three Class A crowns. The runners-up of two of those years were also private schools. Private schools have supplied three of the last four 2A champions, with only Alcoa breaking up the sweep in 2000.) It's not just a problem for Greenback, it's a problem for all the smaller schools. There should be a division or split for private schools. Does CAK give scholarships or financial aid??? ``The playing field is not level anymore,'' Greenback coach Bill Satterfield said. ``Private schools, by nature, recruit students. I'm not saying they recruit players, but they recruit students. They have to.'' I could care less about how well Greenback or any other small school does, I just think that the playing field should be level. One day CAK will be as big as Brentwood, USJ, MBA, Briarcrest, ect. With more private schools popping up there will be a need for a special classifaction.
  20. Christian Academy of Knoxville launched its football program three years ago, rising to full varsity play in 2002. ``The playing field is not level anymore,'' Greenback coach Bill Satterfield said. ``Private schools, by nature, recruit students. I'm not saying they recruit players, but they recruit students. They have to.'' ``Maybe we could become Greenback Academy,'' Satterfield quipped. ``We could do that.'' Webb School of Knoxville and Nashville's Donelson Christian Academy won Class 1A and 2A titles, respectively, that season. In March of the following year, TSSAA voted 6-1 to split its member schools between those offering financial aid and those that do not. Problem solved -- except for one little glitch. Small-schools take beating According to statistics compiled by Nall, Brentwood went 52-3 against public school competition from 1993-2000, University School of Jackson 56-10, Nashville's David Lipscomb 77-14, Montgomery Bell Academy 45-9, Briarcrest 40-9 and Goodpasture 50-14. Fifty-eight public schools were a combined 0-221 vs. private school competition in the study. Nall says he yet to compile numbers from 2001 forward, but, he says, it's doubtful it's gotten any better. ``You've got hard data to back it up,'' he says. Because of smaller enrollment numbers, 26 of the state's 56 private schools compete in public school classifications 1A and 2A. Private schools have won the last three Class A crowns. The runners-up of two of those years were also private schools. Private schools have supplied three of the last four 2A champions, with only Alcoa breaking up the sweep in 2000. Sixty percent of private school students participate in athletics, Nall said, vs. 30 percent of public school enrollments. With no restrictions on where private schools can draw students, it's easier for them to reload, Satterfield said. On its school Web site, CAK touts serving churches in a six-county area. ????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????
  21. I doubt that the game will be close after half time. CAK has a good game in their height but thats about it. I'll take the eagles by 12 to 16
  22. Wondered if anyone had any comments about schools were it's hard to win or that are notorious for "Home Cooking."
  23. Your right, I've seen the brothers play. Adam seems to be the star of the group. When he was little I'm sure he got schooled by his older brothers, which made him a better player. A player to watch out for!!!
  24. J. Jones from Sequoyah HS seems to be on his way to "dunking" greatness...from his drop-step power slams to his Jordan "glid" when he's on a breakaway. (Win or lose, the ball will be slammed home @ least a couple of times)
