Look at Ron Crawford Very little talent in Brentwood, but he's in the running every year. Some wish Tom would have waited a lil longer on Ron to return that call. Who beter than the student who beat his teacher. As for Rankin leaving he was board and tired of the warrior greed. He cleaned his office out every year if he didn't win it all and put his name in hats for jobs becaues he felt if he didnt win it he could or should be fired.....He went from playing in the hardest region in the state then 4 play off games to a garenteed champion ship

I would like to say so. Me and they guy's call Oakland the Oakland Warriors. You can change the uniforms adminstration wat ever you want but you cant change a winner. don't get me wrong Oakland is a good football program always has been. they fell off for a minute here and there due to coaching. All there missing is wyant, britton, and rankin....lol is there a coach on there staff that hasn't been at riverdale. It wasnt a smart move to come in behinde rankin all these coaches new that, but im bout positive one of them will be the next hc...regardless if rankin was there or not that 07' team was expected to win state. wat coach wants that 1st year pressure. as soon as they made the hire i thought oakland would win it and i new sadly to say they would beat riverdal. If you can find a riverdale team that has lost to a wing t. i want a time date score and verifcation from the tssaa........lol. so why would mac and his staff lose to one. they probaly didn't even practice for riverdale that week. I no we never practiced for a wing t. we consintrated on wat we wanted to do and wat we were going to make them do. once again the wing t is simple if your players are coached up and unselfish. Coach Mac could have came in to oakland and went 7-5 and every one would have been content. didn't feel like thanksgiving not going to a 4th round game this year.

So no 2001 Riverdale. There were some studs on that team they only had the best running back and receiver in riverdale history with a great pocket passing QB. With like a million role players that would have been stand outs any where else. Wasn'yt there like ten all- staters on that team and a couple of all-americans. There were players that made all-state in positions they didnt play I think Edrell Smith made it as a safty and he played out side backer.....lol he never roled to safty in a 2 high look

I don't agree you can win them all, but it takes a year around program with commitment a staff that demands it a staff that has little or no family life. Steve brittion Jr once told me i'v seen my father mroe in the past three years than i have in the last six and thats only becaues he was a junior and he played for his father. as soon as you start thinking you cant win them all you want.

There were plenty of years Rankin was down on talent.....98' young team lost star running for several weeks 12-1 00' offensive seinor skill players laid an egg and never showed up 13-2. 02' turned to a 60 to 40 pass run team after king ralph left the thrown to get the ball to a stand out receiver. He died or something in Lincoln Co. 3rd game of the year 13-2. You can find talent with in your team its there. In 02' dave thomas was 2nd team corner back up Qb. the running backs were sometiming so rankin move dave to running back and it save the season.

Word is Central now a middle school will be turning into a magnent high school, allowing students in the near by community and county open addmission to education. Is there any truth to this

I heard that 70's Central team was great. 10 shut outs is crazy. 2004 put up good #'s i think the best did they even have a close game, but guys off that team say 94' 97' 00' 01 Riverdale. I also feel the 98' Oakland team was very good, and uder rated. I saw teams like 94' 97' R'dale and 98' Oak and tryed to be them on saturday playing youth ball for the mustanges......lol

Its hard to repeat. I played in 3 straight state championships, we had the best of coaching an more talent than any one in the state stuff happens like we physicaly abused an steped over Brentwood in 2 a days. With 4 stand out players out hurt enjoying the show from the side line. Crawford just came to work that day no preaperation just a lil full contact. yeah a few mounths later he went home with the gold ball. 1 night it was suppose to b light rain slight chance of sleat.......lol yeah that was the weather in pregame warm ups. after we came out there was 2'inchs of snow its hard to play on turf in nike turf speed shoes. Gearld Riggs was making cuts like it was a hot summer night in regular rubber studded cleats. what im saying is its hard espeacialy when you have a target on your back like Oakland they have always had a state program.There want be teams playing to when a play off spot or state championship there game against oakland will be there season. You want to see a celebration go to all the oakland games maybe not this year but when they loss it will be one. Smryna snuck up on people for 2 years no 1 took them for real.

I don't have overall records but, Oakland 88' 89' 90' so so Lincoln Co. 90' days of the falcon Farrgut 93' 3rd round close loss to Riverdale Jefferson Co. 96 loss to Brentwood Academey in the state championship

Rankin threw a flea flicker on his own 1/2 yard line in chatt 1 year. in a big game he feels safe with fakes an trick plays. i once heard him say it's not a trick play if we rep it like toss sweep. i thank he's wright. his trick plays and fakes work a good percentage of the time...

Rankin took over in 90' he went 4-6 that year with a couple of close loses including oakland. the next 4 year he built a power house that im sad to say might be gone. 91' 10-1 92' 12-1 93' 13-2 94' 15-0. it's just going to get worst for coach A. they questioned an complained when rankin lost which was near never. they were saying he got out coached. if play side stands there ground and back side fallows the puller or pullers that criss cross mess don't mater. its going to be a tfl. wing t o is good when your playing an uncoached d that the d-line just runs up feild and past the ball. 06' 07' the first game smryna and wc. d-line over ran it every time secound game rdale had 0 offfense its that simple. the reason y people steel run it in high school is becaues high school players r selfish an uncoachible. havent seen to much wing t on sat. or sun. lately.......lol
