  1. This article really does not confirm exactly what he will be coaching: http://tennessean.com/apps/pbcs.dll/articl...151/1002/SPORTS
  2. You mean Hubie Smith then. Too many clues. Isn't he still a college assistant though ? I beleive he is still at Lipscomb.
  3. Obviously, you don't know anything about Ensworth. It costs almost twenty grand to go there. If they find someone who fits their system, I think they can afford him or her.
  4. Nothing like a fight between high school fans and AAU "representatives" - which is what this appears to be. Does not take an genius to figure this one out. It's funny. If Webb wins the game, then none of this gets brought up but they lose a hard fought game in the finals and everyone shows their true stripes. Rediculous. Both should have taught Miss Basketball to shake hands with the other team after her squad loses.
  5. Ensworth got down 23-8 but roared back to win the 2nd semifinal in D2 AA at Lipscomb by 12. The 2 teams will play at Noon on Saturday. ECS missed a shot with 6 seconds left that could have won it. They lost 42-38 to Knoxville Webb.
  6. Come on now, CPA. Why all the angst ? The word is they are going D2 small in a year or so so you guys will only have to face one another maybe one time. I would assume, however, that the competitive field for students wanting a Christian based education in 37215, 37205, 37207, 37064, and 37220 just got a lot more interesting and tighter with today's announcement.
  7. It does not take a genius to figure out why Daniel McGugin left a head coaching job at FRA in his late 20's last year to be a position coach at MBA. In other words, he had to be promised something.
  8. I have heard the exact same rumblings from both BA and MBA people in the past few days. Make no mistake - SOMETHING is going on over there involving Rutledge and BA. There has been way too much talk from people who would definitely know. I don't know why BA would want a coach whose team totally quit on him though in the final few weeks of the season. Things may not be so grand over at MBA as they seem.
  9. The situation at Hillsboro is imploding big time. It is the chance for the principal to regain control and the word is that he is all but doing so by wiping the slate clean. Don't look for anyone with past Burro ties to get the job. I look for Hillsboro to be down for a few years. Whomever gets the job better get their arms in shape because they will have stings attached to their arms and will be a puppet for the administration for many years to come. When you win as much as Ron did, nobody really questions anything. Now that he is gone everything changes. Hillsboro should always be good - in all sports. With their zoning options they have a true advantage. There are good guys on that staff who can keep things together but from what I hear they are not being treated like they are wanted. It's a shame really.
  10. Compassion: based on the fact that you have a volleyball picture at the end of your post I offer the following: Suppose your travel volleyball team is playing in the national tournament qtrfinal and one of your best players leaves or comes late to it because she goes with her basketball team to a team camp game in Shelbyville. How would you react ? Just curious. I "think" I get the point of your post but not really. What does this incident say about committment to your school, your team members, and your coaches (or lack thereof ?)
  11. Let's see - school team with girls I have grown up with, gone to team camp with, will be friends with forever with , and practiced every day with OR a travel team where everyone is out for themselves, from different schools, etc... hmmmmm...hard choice
  12. 31-29 final. Congrats to Coach David Pack and his team. They lost 2 weeks ago to the same team by 40.
  13. I wonder what Coach Cockerham - the former basketball coach who only coaches volleyball now - thinks of this action. I bet it never would have happened on her watch. Now that she just does volleyball, did she stay out of the way ? The travel coach should have never put this player in this position. He/she should have said "go to your school's game". That way the kid would have been taken out of the equation. Psycho AAU and travel coaches ruin it for the good coaches. They brainwash their kids in making a choice. No one travel game was going to impede a player getting a scholarship down the road. (An out of season game at that !). This is really sad. It follows the same old thing you see all the time. Players looking forward to the next sport and the next season during their own season. The sad thing is Ryan was the #2 seed and was having a very good year. Unreal really.
  14. I think what you mean is that she gets financial aid (which is approved by the TSSAA for division 2 schools) from the school as long as she qualifies for it. If a student gets any more aid than they qualify for (you have to get approved form the national financial aid office in New Jersey) then they cannot play sports - that's the rule and it is written in stone. What you are implying (getting money from boosters) is illegal and against TSSAA rules. So what are you saying CPG ?? She gets aid or money from boosters ? You want to elaborate ?
  15. Pretty simple - if your school is listed with the Board of Education as a K-12 school then you can play as an 8th grader (you can play 5 years of high school ball). If your school is listed as a 9-12 you can't . This was a direct quote from Ronnie Carter in a newspaper article a month ago. So what is the storty of this school ? I hear they did not have a team 2 or 3 years ago - is this true ?? Is is true that pretty much an entire AAU team from 1 or 2 age groups enrolled there and has really bolstered their team ??? And their AAU coach is the coach ?? Just what I am hearing. It is what it is. Not saying it is illegal or anything. Why do they not play Briarcrest or ECS in the regular season ??
  16. The reason why you didn't read about it is that HH does not call in games they lose - or at least the 3 they have lost this year. MBA got drilled by Lipscomb the same night and they called their in - kinda sad. The story they are talking about is the one in the city paper this week
