  1. I was driving through Jackson the other day and I was very impressed what i saw when i passed by the tennis courts on Hollywood. I thought i was observing a college team practicing tennis but little did i know it was JC-M. Im telling you the guys I saw out there were studs they have a foreign exchange student from Yugoslavia named Nebo. I predict that JC-M will be the Cinderella team come May
  2. DB had that game won, but beat themselves. Turnovers (that would have happend with or without lamon) is what killed db that game. Yeah lamon can catch the ball but no matter how good he is he can't dictate a win or a loss. yes he may make a catch or two in clutch situations, but he can't throw the ball to himself. db could use lamon this year but if he isnt with them im sure they will find alternatives to throwing to him (darrell hayes, matt mcmillian, and their loaded backfield). With or without williams the indians will have a loaded team this year.
  3. the latest run on lamon is that he will be back on the team if he choses to play, but will prolly hafta sit out the first couple games....this comes from a source that is about 90% reliable.

  5. No actually Jackie Robinson was the third black player on a baseball roster, and was the second african american to play. Henning was killed before his first game, but was on the roster of a mlb team before he died. Moses Fleetwood was the actual first black player in baseball
  6. If u are in search of the best running back in TSSAA History, you would have to take a trip down to lower hardeman county. I currently can't recall the name of the school, but they were know for their dominatination of the football field back in the early 20s. There was a running back by the name of JonRufus Leroy Henning. I have one vivid memory of a game where he rushed for over 450yards on 45carries, on a cold snowy night in november. With the bad conditions of the then segrageted schools, they couldnt afford enough equipment for the whole team, so when offense and defense had to share equipment. Henning was not only a good runner he was tough, in the game of his 400+ yd performance he did it barefootedly, because of the finacial woes of the great depression he couldnt afford shoes or even socks. Also he had no breaks because that game his team only had 10 people that night because half of his teammates were drafted into the war and half of his teammate's parents wouldnt let them play that night, and the other half were somewhere in alabama picking cotton in the blazing hot sun, and the other half of his team died the week before in one of the first recorded racist acts of the ADA in co-ordaniance with the kkk. most people have prolly never heard of him because at that time it was hard for african americans to get noticed in a society ruled by jim crow laws. JonRufus Leroy Henning later became the first african american player to be on the roster of a mlb team but sadly he was assasinated before he could play his first game.
  7. having a good team and being good are too diffrent things. yes db will have a good team next year with the return of several players, but you can have all the talent in the world and still lose every game if u arent disciplined enough to play as a team and keep ur head on ur shoulders. For instance, who thought that the pistons would beat the lakers for the championship during the preseason last year. so whoever thinks that db wont have any competition this year, in the words of lee corso, "Not so fast there my friend." DB will in fact hafta work twice as hard to get to where they want this year. no matter how good or bad the teams they play are this year, they will be on their A game when ol DB comes to town!
  8. I heard of a Morristown West guy dropping a 39.98 in the 300 but i dont know how true that is
  9. The 2 guys made fake bombs by putting vinegar and baking soda in 20oz bottles and put ballons over the cap and threw them in the halls cause them to pop. One of the kids was on scholorship to play football at ole miss but due to the accident he has lost his scholorship. This will be a major "hurdle"(track humor) in their way to state, but its melrose so u know they got plenty more runners like him. Some of their best athletes at Melrose that are fed from the Orange Mound community arent even out for track and that takes alotta dept out of their team. but never doubt the golden cleates of Melrose High they'll always make their way to state without a doubt
  10. what time does Volunteer play at sulllivan central tonight?
