  1. I had really hoped that no one would take offense to my comment. I meant none. Simply that after watching the game, there were no LA players that stood out to me. A collegiate level player, no matter the level, should stand out on a field of HS players. Take former Knox Gibbs running back Andy Hibbett, a star at Carson Newman (a school that is being tossed around for Linder) who rushed for 3000 yards as a senior when he was literally the only talented player on the field. Linder isn't doing that sort of thing. I'm sorry that I offended. I'm sure he's a good player for that area. If he was on a team in the Knox area maybe he'd make a nice DB or a change of pace guy. Just not the world beater many are making him out to be on this thread.
  2. What I was thinking, but didn't want to say it. After attending that game, I couldn't tell you which one Linder was. Mean no disrespect, but if you don't stand out against the best teams in 3A football in East TN, gonna be hard to get noticed by the college coaches some of you think he should be getting noticed by.
  3. If I was Webb, I'd be insulted... Grace coach says they won't lose a game the rest of the year. Good luck to both teams tonight. Be interested to see how it turns out.
  4. I will be very impressed if Catholic stays within 14 points of Belfry. Not saying they can't do it, but I'll be impressed if they do.
  5. Tonight's game I think is the game to watch in East Tennessee. Two teams that are trying to prove that they are "for real". Will be a real challenge for both teams. Should be an incredible environment
  6. In your opinion, what is the best defense in Alcoa history?
  7. You kick extra points at a scrimmage after scores?
  8. The first page said the CAK QB had 3400 last season... Wow....
  9. Since I'm READING this, I can't HEAR anything... So you don't sound like anything to me... ðŸ‘
  10. 1st. That's not the proper way to use the apples and oranges metaphor, but whatever 2nd. If Shareef is there, it has to be him. He was an explosive back when given touches last year and I expect that to be more of the same this season.
  11. Insults... Awesome. You've watched Alcoa football for 2 seasons so I wouldn't expect you to know anything about the history of the program but all those names that Rebel named off that played the position were better running backs than Tyson. And again, Rebel is correct, Tyson didn't have as much help around him, but his class also "only" won 1 title in their high school careers. Don't undercut his teammates though, some of my Alcoa connections think that the O-Line with Loy, Ownby and a young Mitchell was about as good as has been around Alcoa and he was blessed with running behind those boys for a year.
  12. Because he IS an above average back. He's tough as nails for sure, but his recruitment will tell you exactly what kind of back people without maroon colored glasses think he is. I've watched Alcoa football for a long time, longer than you I'm imagining. Jaquez Tyson is not a top 5 back of the last 10 years at his own school and benefitted GREATLY from the best single offensive lineman Alcoa has had in a long time (and solid O-Line play his 3 years) and the insistence of his head coach to give him the ball 35-50 times a game, which is a testament to his toughness but also an explanation for some inflated numbers.
  13. How can you actually say that? Mitchell straight dominated people for two years. Any football player would tell you that games are won and lost in the trenches, and when you have a monster like Mitchell who can make every kind of step at the first level, with the quickness to get to the second level and the patience in pass pro like a seasoned vet, you can make an above average running back look like an all star.
  14. Also... Where are those posters now who said I was wrong about CPA being the best team in the state this year?! Board got quiet once CAK and CPA started dominating people...
  15. "John Creel is one of the best offensive players I've ever seen, and Matt Zacyzk is just phenomenal," Gerlach said. "I knew that those two, if we could shut them down, we would have a chance."I think they are the best offensive team in the state. That back line didn't completely shut them down, but it just took away their chances to where Walk had to step up. And props to Walker Hagan ... he just does a great job in goal." CLASSY COMMENTS BY THE BEST COACH IN THE STATE
  16. Ehhh it'd be close but I'm not going to disagree with UCM even though he's just trying to get a rise outta ya... Tyson would be top 6 or 7 but he's not a better player than Cottrell from West, Roper or Campbell from Fulton or Jackson or Blackmon from Maryville. I would argue that Tyson wasn't even the best player on his own team... I don't know many people who understand the game who would choose Tyson over Kyle Malik Mitchell. So, hard to argue someone's the best player amongst a group of teams when he's not the best player on his own team...
  17. WHAT?! Hardin Valley couldn't win this one 17-0?! Great preparation team... Enjoy your summer!
  18. And the thing is, because of the teams that went in, the split of the brackets has to be CCS on one side, Muffins on the other. Madison on one side, Sheffield on the other. CPA on one side, Page on the other, which puts CAK and Greeneville on opposite sides.
  19. What happened to the muffins?
