You are a wise mother (fan) to commend Nic for his accomplishments but please throw him a party when he shows good sportsmanship as this is more important than his prowess on the court. Just send me the bill, I wont to pay for half of the blowout as I want encourage him too--esp. in this area of life. Our kids need encouragement but especially good role models. Play at the level you can play at and do your best that is my advice for any player. My two posts give some evidence that Alan North may just be the best three pt. shooters in West, TN--that includes some of the best players in our gand state. Few have the range he has. How many high school players who you have seen can drill 25 and 30 footers consistently? Very few if any. I heard there are a few in Middle TN area. When I get the final stats for his last two yrs., we will know more. Hard work pays off. Keep developing your character first and foremost and keep working on your game you will succeed in life and on the court !! Character counts !!

In his career high 47 pts. vs Harding Academy Nov. 30, 2004 he went 14 for 29 from the field including 8 for 19 from behind three pt. arc. Hardly 50 shoots---i realize you were EXAGGERATING !! If you are a shooter----by all means, "Shoot dat ball !!"

I feel that I am mentioning the really important issues of Character Development and Sportsmanship which some dont want to think about anymore much less dialogue about. If one doesnt think character is more important than athleticism look at Kobe B. He took the best NBA team possibly ever assembled and dismantled it with his pride and selfishness. Good DAY

You could be right that he prob. wont be signing with a D1 school but neither will some other very good players who might could play at the D1 level. Some players just dont get the props, others do--that's the way ball bounces. Nothing--expect serious injury--can stop a person with a big heart from succeeding in life. I'm sure all TN players who have character and a champions heart will do well at the next level. By the way when you can shoot 40% from behind the three pt. arc--you generally get a green light from most sane coaches. That could explain why North shoot so many 3s his last two yrs. His last three yrs. of H.S. North shot 40% from three pt. range and ended up with at least 1,900 pts. not bad for a 6' 2" Guard who got little recognition til the twilight of high school career. Could not agree more on comment about underrated players like Dell Coleman. Same goes for Alan North of JCS who drilled seven three pointers vs Trenton in the sub-state game. Best of Luck to all of you !!

I would take the 6'2" white kid throwin down 30 ft. three pointers (and dat aint Caleb as far as I know) over the 6'8" any color or race that is over-hyped. A dunk is worth 2 pts. a 30ft. 3 pointer is worth three. You loose again !! Can yo 6'8" boy dunk seven times in one game--my 6'2" white boy nailed seven threes vs yo big boy !!

It matters little all the looks one gets. What can and did one do with the ability one has. Are you sure he is not your relative or at least from Trenton? The most hyped player ever! You either no little to nothing about Basketball or either you have litlte or no integrity !! Doaks did not even put up 20 ppg vs fairly weak opponents. JCS held him to 12 pts. And it was pure hard work that did that. If the refs had not fouled out two starters he may not have reached double figures. WAY over rated--swallow your pride and tell the truth. Doaks Mr. " Potenial " but certainly not Mr. Basketball. Any honest fan of bball knows that. It is too obvious. A guy with his size and athleticism should have averaged at least 30 ppg in post season. Alan North of JCS averaged 27.5 ppg vs. the three top 1A schools in the state of TN in post season play and he gets no credit. Somewhere along the way politics must have entered the equation. HE was shooting many of those shoots from 30 ft. !!! Just be honest---people will respect you if you will just tell the truth. There are lots of people in life who were destined to succeed--due to potential--but failed miserably. I hope Doaks wont be one of those. IF he gets puffed up over all this hype you give him, you may contribute to his continued sub-par performance. His team was loaded with big guys who could play. He should have dominated. Without lots of help from refs, they never even see State Tourn. but isnt that what the powers that be wanted. Doaks to show off his dominance in Boro==still waitn to see it. Maybe we'll see it at college---not likely. His chance to dominate has slipped by---gone except in the minds of biased people like you. Just call it like I see it. Will be happy to talk to you face to face. I am not a coward nor a liar--why dont to meet me i'll prove it.

Middleton only beat Jackson Christian School (JCS) by six in the Reg. Finals and that was after coming off an emotional "upset" of no. 3 ranked West Carroll. They are in the same District !! Middleton barely beat Lake Co. in Sub-State. Middleton, JCS, Lake Col and Trenton are definitely in the top 8 teams in 1A in the state. Some of the best teams from West, TN never reach the state tourney. TRUTH !! JCS aso beat Wayne Co. in Christmas Tourn. The West is the Best !!

Ask Jimmy the Greek--he can explain it real good. The best athletes are not always the best players. There are many factors. Character means a lot. The black kids in West TN have a advantage over the non-black kids no matter how good the non-black kid is he will never be recognized even if he scores 40 pts with a highly rated black kid guarding him. This is real not imagined. I will be happy to talk to anyone in person if you care to know the facts.

I guess now since the Delk twins had a sub-par game in such a big game they will both drop out of the top 20 best players---huh? Or will they still be hyped? I guess if you happen to be tall and blessed with lots of athleticism you make it on pure "potential" doesnt matter what you actually do. Since when did performance really matter anyway? Hype is where its at !! There are several Memphis players (and other selected few in TN) who are more than hype they are the real thing. Reality check----are you still with me?

Couldn't happen to a more R& B coach (i.e. Herry Till of JNS) And R& B dont stand for Rhythym n Blues. Interesting that poor three point shooting is what broke Northside's back and the w h it e kid three yrs. ago who you (Coach Herry Till) would not even give a chance to tryout has been called the best three pt. shooter in West TN knocking down 7 threes in his last H.S. game in sub-state. Now, do you wish you had given him a chance ?? Ra ci sm is always ugly regardless of where it originates. Do you agree??

He was called for two techicals in a game which disqualified him from playing in the matchup vs Greenfield which Trenton won without Doaks. This proves my pt. he is not even the MVP on his own team much less a Mr. Basketball Finalist. I just call it like I see it. He is a very good ball player but not Mr. Basketball. That is my only point--no more--no less. Hype carries some players a long way. Niccy D. has the natural talent to go a long way. Let'' s hope he does., I am not talking bad about him just stating the facts.

I have nothing against any of these guys. All are very talented. Most are over-rated however. Doaks definitely should not have won the award. Why? When you take into consideration that he nearly cost his team a chance of even making it to state due to poor sportsmanship and when you consider how few pts. he has scored beginning with is 12 pt. sub-state performance you know it was pure hype that got him this award. I doubt he is even the best player on his own team. On what basis do I say that: when he was suspended for getting two technicals, his teammates beat a good Greenfield team without him. Someone other than Doaks pulled off the win vs JCS in the sub-state game not to mention two JCS starters fouling out. Niccy D. must improve to play at the next level. Let's hope he does. We'll be pulling for you Niccy D. Represent West Tn well in Chattagnnooga.
