  1. i remember a few years ago not long after Perry Co got their football program started,, i was helping with the jr pro and Summertown talked to some people here about getting started, glad to see they are really doing it finally, They always have some athletes there and i think donw the road they should be able to compete with the rest of the district

  2. LC did help us out a lot when we started fb back up again here,,and we appreciate it,,and i'm sure Coach Sharp is happy to see us keep it up and starting to have some success,,,been a while since we've played them at the HS level,,hard to do when they shoved us across the river with the private schools so long,,glad to be back over here playing the teams we play in other sports for sure,,good luck to both teams Friday night,,wish i could go

  3. News Bulletin: The Panthers of Lewis County will be hosting a free hitting clinic. Anyone who wants to know anything about hitting(or just football in general) should show up. Aug 26th at Perry County's baseball field.:roflol: Perry County's football team is encouraged to attend. Maybe you will learn a thing or two. (But if you're anything like your fans, you're unteachable.)

lord i haven't posted in a long time,,,i went to Lewis Co,,,but i live in PC now,,,my step son played for PC,,both bunches can run their traps pretty well still i see,,just shut up and let them play,,,i think Hohenwald will be surprised how much we've improved since you used to kick our tails regularly when we first got started,,,

  4. I understand why Wayne County is #1 and Jo Byrns is seeded #2 and Perry County #3, but could someone please explain why McEwen (3-7) is seeded #4 above Collinwood (6-4) and Cornersville (6-4)?? Craziness in seeding!!!

I think it is because McEwen was an automatic qualifier and the wood and C'ville are wild cards..but I could be wrong, who knows with the T$$AA

  5. I didn't say all 4 got full rides. I'm not sure exactly what 3 of them got. I know for a fact that Forrest White got a full ride to Austin Peay; the other 3 got scholarships of some sort. Even if they didn't get full rides, every little bit helps, don't you think?

I do agree with the part about playing as many sports as you can as well as you can; not necessarily to try to get a scholarship. The point is, some coaches not just at PC but at other schools as well try to discourage the kids from playing more than one sport and that is not right.

Good post, Yale. Gillioun, I hope you're reading this.

Forrest was the only full ride, Brad & Calvin got partials at Bethel, Joey got a partial at North Alabama

I am President of the Lipscomb Booster Club. Some ideas that helped us in the past with your same problems.

    1. We hired someone to run all of our concession stands for all sports. He takes a percentage of the total sales.

    2. Workers at the Concession Stand during football games. We get local area Churches to work the stand during varsity games on Friday night. A church would get the stand by themselves for one game per season, perhaps two if you run deep at home with playoff games.

    3. Some band moms would run the ticket booth at the start of the game. But would have to be ready for the half time show.

If you have any other questions or would like to know how our organization works-please feel free to contact me via email.

I know we paid a few of the HS kids to work at the concession stand the last couple of years, no band so that doesn't help with the ticket booth, but the girls at the HS office usually take care of that. not sure who is on the chain gang now, my work schedule changed so I work Friday nights now. we had a good core come up from the start of the Jr Pro program, the Skeltons, us, the Trulls, Snuffy...but all our kids are gone now

I know, went thru the same thing with Jr Pro. It's just frustrating. And yes, if you are who I think you are, you and your wife both have definitely done your time.

Maybe some of the ones who don't help will read this and feel guilty!!

Had a biggun graduate in '06. Joey D

  8. You probably know who I am viking fan, till this last season, my wife and I did a lot for the program at PC(concession stand, chain gang, helped coach the junior pro for a while, carried equipment to the away games)..ok I gave it away lol. It has always been hard to get folks to help, everyone wants to watch their child play of course, you just have to get a good core of folks and welcome any help you get at all from anyone else..

  9. You may as well quit arguing with these guys , they are going to defend their position to the utmost degree, which I respect cause that is basically what you and I and all of the other public school supporters are trying to do , BUT they will take everything you say and twist it into something you didn't say or even imply, to help defend their case or demean you. Some of them will even go as far to try to turn it into a racial debate, I said they should play in their own league and was called a racist , which is not only EXTREMELY untrue but is also very judgemental which I was taught in my small , humble little church was wrong. Take my advice and do as I did and quit posting on this board for a while and calm down a little , listening to these people tell you what your opinion should be , and them telling us how stupid and ignorant we are to their private school ways , will really get under your skin and they will finally get you to say something you don't really mean and then they will really come down hard on you. Privates have an advantage over small 1A and 2A publics , large publics in heavily populated areas have advantages over small privates , ex. Alcoa , one of the very few. they will never admit this but it is true and they know it. For now we will have to just deal with it wether we like it or not , cause money makes the world go round and it makes the T$$AA happy and since privates have the biggest part of it they are gonna win most of the battles with the powers that be.

good advise, they will twist and turn everything you say

  10. If Rick Rice could not get PC going, who can?

and who says he didn't. the five years he was here, we saw a vast improvment in the football team every year...maybe not on the scoreboard every year, but we grew from an after thought here, to something that folks looked forward to seeing and felt that we would be in every game...he left cause he wanted to coach his boys at Waynesboro, but he left us a great replacement in Coach Bradley, who I think will do a great job and our program will continue in its move upward to being a very competative program year in and year out

  11. That's true, a lot of them don't, but around PC a lot of them actually do. The majority of the seniors on PC's team this year played Jr Pro. Hopefully, a lot of them will continue to play. This year was my son's 8th year playing football, and he still loves it.

I helped coach the Jr Pro here in PC for a few years , and we do seem to keep a lot of them going on up to the middle and High school level. The 2006 class turned out a little light, but the classes before and after both had a lot of them play all the way through

  12. 1AMAN....Perry County is an improving team. Serious questions here...Do you think that Perry County boys are any different from boys that grew up in Trousdale? Are Trousdale kids just naturally better athletes for some reason then Perry County kids?

What do you think separates Perry County from being a Trousdale?

we got as many athletes as any one else of about our size, on average year in and year out, But TC's coaching sticking around for year after year, and just the tradition that everyone wants to play football is the only difference I see, We haven't been around long enough for some home grown coaches to come back in yet

By the way, glad you got rid of Alfred lol

  13. I haven't read all the thread, so excuse me if this has already been brought up. Concerning Trousdale County and Perry County.

How does Trousdale County do in basketball and baseball as opposed to football? Likewise, over time how does Perry County do in football and baseball as opposed to basketball?

I think exceptional coaches and systems can breed a successful program in a sport no matter the size and resources. The fact that a small 1A school can keep those sort of coaches around is a testiment to those coaches. My opinion is that once the successful coach leaves, the program will suffer as well and the small public isn't going to have the resources to attract another 'name' coach.

well, I don't know about TC in the two other sports, but PC's football is a young program just finished up it's 10th year as a sport in the school, last 6 years under almost the same staff,(Rick Rice the first 5, then Bronson Bradey this last season, but he was an asst under Rice the whole time he was here) Improving every year. Coaching continuity, Baseball...well no comment lol

  14. Who put out TC this year......? Small, predominantly rural county, no other school detracts from their enrollment, good coach, players buying into his system,......! The fact that TC gets everyone in their county to choose from certainly makes them a bit unique, wouldn't you say? :D I'm not certain there is another county in the state that doesn't have at least two high schools inside its boundaries. TC has a good opportunity to remain competitive every year for that reason alone, but they aren't gonna be able to plug a weak spot if they get one like Tenn Temple did so well this past year. Only problem Temple is gonna have is they have too many holes for even them to overcome next season. :thumb: Poor recruiting management if you ask me! ;)

    Kazzy

And Trousdale is not unique in being a county with one school at all, , can think of several, Perry, Lewis, Houston, Stewart, Moore, Lake, Decatur, ...that is just the ones in 1 or 2A that I can think of in middle and west TN. so that is not the reason Trousdale is so good at football, those schools all run the gamut from good to weak in football. Stability in the coaching staff and support of the community seems to be the reasons in my book. And football is probably harder to keep up at that sort of level

  15. well TC is not the only county in the state that has just one HS, Perry Co I know is one, and while they are not a football power, They have been known to win a few Basketball games here and there. Like someone here said, Trousdale in football and Perry in Basketball have built up a big tradition in the sports that they seem to be good at. Tradition and good coaching that stays for a while is the key to a sucessful program at this level, when getting players from a bigger area is not an option.

My ears must have been burning VG lol

  16. big R&B,

up until last year (multi-pliers) i believe that GP & DL were the only privates in AA.

in addition to that, they played each other in an earlier round.

it was only possible for one private to make the finals.

at least that was the case after d-2 split off.

you are exactly right Laz on DL and GP hitting each other early in the playoffs...in fact it would have been the quarters at the lastest as they were in the same region
