COACH DOUG NEWMAN NEEDS HELP. HERE IS A MESSAGE THAT HE POSTED ON FACEBOOK: I am asking for your help and support! I am now coaching at Stratford STEM Magnet School. My wrestling team is in need of a lot of money to make it through the season. We have started a girls vs girls team this year. I don’t have enough Singlets’ for the team, the kids can not afford wrestling shoes, and we have no money to pay for the entry fees for the tournament that we need to attend to get the wrestlers ready to compete for a chance to make it to the state tournament. I have the most athletic bunch of wrestlers I have ever had even though most of them are just freshmen and sophomores! I have decided the quickest way to raise the money we need is to have a banquet and “Roast Coach Newman†benefit! I have scheduled it to take place Sunday, January 27, 2013 in the afternoon at around 3 or 4 at the Goodlettsville CP Church. I am in need of someone to teach me how to use the two Dual VHS-DVD converters so I can convert over 100 VHS tapes of my former wrestlers and football game to DVD so I can take orders for them to be purchased at the Banquet. The profit from the benefit will be divided between the wrestling programs at Hillwood, Hunters Lane, and Stratford. Athletics, coaches, parents, referees, faculty and staff, administrators are be welcomed to pay a fee for the privilege of “telling old war stories of good old days†or just plan “roast meâ€. All three of these schools are in need of money to help finance their programs. The cost of the banquet will a donation of $20. We will have steak, baked potato, salad, mixed veggies, tea and coffee. For a donation of $10 you will get 2 mins, $20 you will get 4 mins, for $30 you will get 6 mins to tell stories of the good old days or to just "roast" me! We will try to covert all of the old VHS and 16mm film to DVD for you to order and can pick up at the banquet! More details to come latter. All donations if it is made out to Stratford STEM Magnet School Wrestling Program will be income tax deductible! If you would like to help in anyway (helping me convert VHS to DVD, teaching me how to use my two converter, helping me plan and advertise and get the word out about the banquet and roast, or any other way that can help me) I would greatly appreciate it. JEFF HOWARD (CLEVELAND STATE CHAMP 1976) DIED FRIDAY NIGHT IN A BAD CAR WRECK. IT HAPPENED AFTER THE CLEVELAND WRESTLING ALUMNI DINNER ABOUT A MILE FROM THE SCHOOL. JEFF LEFT WITH HIS DAD AFTER THE DINNER TO GO GET HIS CAR BEFORE THE MATCHES ON FRIDAY NIGHT STARTED. HE NEVER MADE IT BACK. JEFF WAS A GREAT WRESTLER AND A GREAT GUY.
