  1. Thanks; do you know the high schools Justin Harrell and Dustin Colquitt played at? Also do you know if Scott Wells (BA) Michael Turner (Goodpasture) and Thomas Welch (Brentwood) are still on Active Rosters? Thanks again: jackd
  2. Thanks for the help from upper East Tn. jackd
  3. I need some help with collecting some data; I was talking with one of the principals in our district the other day about the number of kids signing D I has increased over the last few years, and this year it looks even better; when the conversation moved to the number of players on NFL rosters who played high school football in the state of Tennessee (at the present time including this year's signing class and free agents); if you know of any please help me complete the list without missing anyone. Thanks jackd
  4. I know everyone is anxiously waiting to know who the new Head Football Coach will be at Brentwood; but interviews are still in process (starting last Sunday Feb. 19th) and will be completed with the first round tomorrow Sunday Feb. 26th. The people making the decision hopes to have a coach named by the first week of March. I want to say welcome back to WCS Coach Donnie Webb who recently was named the Head Coach at Franklin. Spring practice is only 8 weeks away for some of our schools, next year looks like a exciting time for Williamson County football with hopes of 1 or possibly 4 making it to the championship game in Cookeville. Fairview should make a strong run at 3A after losing in the quarterfinals last year; Page has a solid group coming back and are working hard in the off season looking to get past the 2nd round this year; Centennial is a strong contender for the 5A also looking to get past the 2nd round this year; Indy will build on a the district championship from last year; Ravenwood is working hard and having a coaching staff in place in the off season is always better for the kids; Summit, still without seniors, will be looking for the first win but hard work in the weight room will make that happen this year; and then who ever gets the Brentwood job will take over a team with 43 seniors who made it to the quarterfinals last year. Thanks to all the great parents and fans that support our schools!!!!! jackd
  5. futbo120, I went over to Spring Hill and watched the first 4 series of the scrimmage; Spring Hill had the size advantage but Indy was able to move the ball by scoring 3 touchdowns on its first 4 series. Spring Hill had no first downs but completed a seam route for a touchdown on its 4th series. It is always hard to tell in a spring scrimmage but I liked the way the Indy's defense ran to the ball. jackd
  6. First of all thanks for the kind words; the following is a response by Jason Golden the COO of WCS. School Support Organizations (Boosters & PTOs) remain subject to audit by the State Comptroller of the Treasury, per TCA 49-2-609; 2008’s HB 3278/SB 3530 attempting to repeal the School Support Organization Financial Accountability Act did not pass. The school support laws, TCA 49-2-609 through 49-2-611, can be found at http://www.michie.com/tennessee/lpext.dll?f=templates&fn=main-h.htm&cp=tncode. Maryville Schools’ Procedure 4.13, Rutherford County’s Board Policy 2.404, Williamson’s Board Policy 4.503, Wilson’s Board Policy 4.503, etc., incorporate this law. All Tennessee public school systems are subject to these laws, and our policy is based on the current law. Neither these laws nor our Board Policies prohibit fundraising; they just add required approvals & monitoring mandated by the State. We did not add to our existing policy any more than the law required. Last year, the Comptroller chose to examine BHS’s booster records pursuant to this law; the State is monitoring our boosters to ensure compliance with the law. Whether or not we are audited, WCS will at all times comply with these laws. As the AD for the county I look forward to the day one or more of our WCS teams are back in the State Championship game. These laws do not keep our booster clubs from doing fundraisers to support our coaches and teams that they support. Thanks again Rappy if you would like to talk more about this please call me at 615-472-4095.
  7. Hogan as you know; Coach Webb did interview and was offered the job but ended up at BGA as DC. jackd
  8. DAD1, You were right when you said FEW, I know they are working hard trying to find the right fit for them; at this time I don't think we will know until after spring break who that is. jackd
  9. Coach, I guess when I stop coaching I found out I have alot more time on my hands. Just remember Coach that the fastest way to the end zone is the path of the least resistance; so don't forget the 9 route!!! jackd
  10. Sarahpalin, concerning Coach Webb I know him but I don't know who interview for the Indy job I was working at Page at the time but the next time I see Coach I will ask. I have had a lot of good QB's since I have been in Wilco but the most productive passer, great player, and hardest to tackle was Bill Whittemore,5A Mr. Football in the State; he ended up starting 2 years at Kansas and helped lead them to a bowl game. He is now coaching for FRA. jackd
  11. Lost Old Dad, I have not talked to other AD's and I don't know how long I will continue to visit CoachT to answer questions. We have gone through alot of change in our county since the football season ended, and I was surprised by some of the things being said so I decided to help provide some facts. jackd
  12. Taco, good question but I going to pass on an answer because every coach does it differently and I wouldn't want a parent to judge their coach on how I handle those situations; but trust me after 27 years of High School football I have had my share of upset parents. jackd

  14. Sarahpalin, I can only say who I am but if you have doubts please email me at jackd@wcs.edu or call me at 615-472-4095 I am not trying to trick anyone, just trying to help with some facts. I can't answer all the questions that may come but the ones I do, I will answer honestly. jackd
  15. Will2Win, all decisions concerning the hiring and firing of coaches are made by the principals at each high school and middle school. If a teaching position is not available at the school then sometimes a coach may have to teach at one school while coaching at another. I did the same in 2004 and 2005 while I was teaching at Ravenwood,I became an assistant coach for Coach Crawford at Brentwood; my reasons were that my youngest son did not follow me to Ravenwood and I after I had resigned my AD and Head Football position at Ravenwood Coach Crawford call and asked me to come and help him at Brentwood. Dr. Vaden was ok with that so it worked out great for 2 years then I was able to get a teaching position back at Brentwood full time. Everyone's story is different and I am sure there is a good reason if it ends up happening that way. jackd
