  1. CloudDrakan, You say Knox took 6th out of ten. Correct. He forfeited his matches after his loss in the semis. Which means, without the forfeits (which you do not know why) he could have wrestled for 3rd. The kid that took 3rd was the kid from North Carolina that Knox had already beaten. How good was the kid from North Carolina? Did he place last year? How many shots did each take? In his second match, can you tell me the size of the circle in the mat on which he wrestled? How many shots did each wrestler take? How long did each wrestler get in between their first and second matches? You indicate Knox looked out of shape. Are you sure he was not suffering from a cold? Please answer all these questions. Thanks
  2. fightingscots11, are you Amy's dad or boyfriend? Could you please compare her to whom you may feel, are 3 or 4 other very good right fielders in the state? Do you know 3 or 4 other right fielders in the state (that don't play in the Knoxville area)? It also looks like this thread is a love fest for the Farragut Admirals (see ladyad19 - what an ego). I saw Amy play in Chattanooga earlier and she is a very talented and athletic player. The best right fielder in the state??? Based on what I have seen, and heard from others in Knoxville, is that she is definitely Farragut's best all-around player.
  3. 1st - Farragut 2nd - Morristown West 3rd - Morristown East 4th - Gibbs Championship game: Farragut over West 5-4 Consolation game: East over Gibbs 2-1 Farragut went 6-0
  4. To Zach and Coach Carpenter, Several people have taken the time to stand up for you and that certainly is appropriate and I commend them for taking the time to do so. They were offended, just as I was trying to indicate the other wrestler and his fans were probably offended by your remarks in the Maryville paper. It is good to know that you are good people and the quotes in the paper are simply a poor choice of words after a heated match. I apologize to you and I certainly wish you the best at the state tournament this weekend. Please let me encourage you to look at your words in the article from an opponents viewpoint and see if it may offend others, irregardless of your intent. If so, take the time to apologize to them. My point of the thread was to get people to realize how other others perceive our actions and words may be as important as the actions and words themselves.
  5. texas23, absolutely nothing wrong with Dunn making his comments. It just shows a lack of 1. class and 2. respect for his sport and opponents.
  6. Zoo, I did not say Dunn was a jerk. I indicated that his comments made him appear that way. He did win the region and best I can tell, he deserved it. My comments were directed to his and his coach's remarks that displayed little to no class. "Character" is considerably more important than winning a wrestling tournament.
  7. Part of article from The Daily Times in Maryville, TN - 02/15/2004 Please read and share what you think of quotes from the article? Dunn comes across as a real jerk and Coach Carpenter re-affirms that Dunn is not a good wrestler at all. He apparently only has one move. When that didn't work, Dunn did not have the ability to do anything else. I, too, would have liked to have seen more action. But, this was due to both wrestlers, not just one as the coach suggest. Coach, have a little more class. I saw this match and have no dog in this fight. My reason for commenting is that the William Blount folks made it public and personal. As a wrestling fan, I am appalled at your lack of respect for your sport and opponents. Take some responsibility for actions and don't blame others for your failures. All potential 189-pounders at the state tournament. Be aware that this is how the William Blount team will speak of you if you don't just walk up and let Dunn bear hug you. Dunn (31-7) defeated Farragut's Nick Reveiz by decision, 5-2. Dunn said he was pleased with the pace of the match. ``It seemed to me like (Reveiz) was scared,'' said Dunn. ``He wouldn't stay in bounds. I was trying to get my move in but he kept leaning towards the edge.'' The move Dunn was going for was the bear hug. It's a move that has helped him obtain victory throughout the season. ``I think (Reveiz) may have been worried about the (bear hug),'' said Dunn. ``He saw me use it to pin a guy in less than 23 seconds here at the region tournament.'' William Blount coach Marty Carpenter said he would have liked to have seen more action between Dunn and Reveiz. ``Reveiz was trying to stay away from Zach,'' said Carpenter. ``Zach was able to get his points and Reveiz did get a penalty (for backing away). ``I would have liked for the fans in attendance to have seen Zach wrestle. I also feel that Zach might have won the outstanding wrestler award (if they could have wrestled).''
  8. Gracious response FHSD. By the way, I agree with your original comments that this thread was in regards to the "best" in region 2. Although, there are many contenders, only a few can (and should) actually be considered the best.
  9. Regions 2 best wrestlers: Light (103 - 125) Puckett at Gibbs Middle (130 - 152) Talley at South Doyle Heavy (160 - 275) Knox at Farragut By the way FHSD, you come across as a real jerk in your response to g-nation. I don't know if this was intentional or not, but try to show a little more class.
  10. The guy from Maryville is good. I 've seen him wrestle. Should make it to state (won't win the region though), will not do much there.
