  1. Maryville lost alot of key players--only 1 of 5 starters returning this year. They do have some young players coming up, but they will need to mature quickly to make them competitive. Solid coaching, which they have, could be the difference with this team. Remember, they were supposed to finish middle of the pack last year and wound up winning the season district title, 2nd in the district tourney.
  2. Maryville, until someone can prove they're not
  3. Coach Q thinks that Powell's size will be the biggest issue
  4. Congratulations rebels! I don't mean to bring up anything negative, I know the WB people have enough to deal with right now. But what was with all the calls for run plays on 3rd and long. There was just no pass threat out there at all--only 25 yds passing total all game for the Govs. I was on the WB side during the second half. The fans were very supportive of the team, but there was some rumbling of "throw the ball!" when the coach called for continued runs on those 3rd downs.
  5. Thanks for the update. Glad he's is doing well. I'll definitely catch the CN-UT game. Gotta watch the TWC Bulldogs this year too! They are going to kick us off the board taking bball Regarding the Brice situation, I've seen that the WB fans may be responding by calling and emailing the Daily Times. Brice isn't going to retract anything--it's a column. But I think calling or emails won't get your ideas across to the largest population. Do letters to the editor instead. They'll publish them.
  6. Yep, Maryville Rebels. They have allowed no points in the past 13 quarters. Only 18 points have been scored on them this season (and 6 of those were a kickoff return in the Alcoa game--scored on the special teams, not the defense)
  7. This is an awful situation at WB. Taking a sport that should be at its purest form at the high school level, and disgracing it like this. I think Coach Meadows may be a victim of his past success. People knew he was a winner at other schools, and they expected him to turn around WB quickly. The recent actions of some of the WB fans reflects today's culture of instant gratification and impatience. If a coach doesn't win, through crap at him, talk about him on radio shows and fire him. . . c'mon that's what the pros do. Don't corrupt high school football. . . just don't do it! If your going to act like that, give up the high school game and find a good greedy, corrupted pro team to root for. Get these so-called fans out of the stands and let the real WB fans support their team. Good luck against Maryville this week guys. Have fun out their playing a game that you hopefully still love, and bring your real fans with you!

  9. Sorry everybody for asking my stupid question about Alex Rouse. Wasn't following the boards close a couple of months ago. I apologize. I still say we try to teach Childs bball before the season starts. You can tell he is a winner

    Maryville

I agree. I think alot of the guys could play DII or DIII depending on what some of the regional colleges are looking for this year.
  11. Oak ridge knows who he is!! He did well against them. And he's pretty big too--like 210, 220. Hard to tackle.
  12. Expect a big Maryville win @ home. But they can't look past wm bount. I saw Lenoir City take down Fulton last night--that wasn't expected!
  13. Maybe we can teach him bball too
  14. Missed that episode of sports talk I guess. The walk-on at UT-thing was what everyone had been saying all last spring. Just wanted an update.
  15. Thanks for looking--another smart player with alot of heart. Hope he is doing well.
  16. Thanks for the info. I like to watch smart bball players as well. Hope he does play roundball as well. They're going to need some help this season, but that's another forum. Another M'ville question: Bear with me, I am relatively new to the world of Rebel football (past couple of years), what happened to Alex Rouse? I heard he was supposed to try and walk on for UT--did he make it?
  17. Just wanted to give props to Stephen Childs last night. He's a smart player out there and we are lucky to have him. The open field tackle on the MoWest guy was awesome and audible! Does anybody know if Childs plays basketball???? Rebelraider, do you know??
  18. Alcoa-Sweetwater game moved to Thursday night
  19. I heard the Alcoa game has been bumped up to Thursday night. Any word on them moving up the Maryville/MoWest game??
  20. My my--TedNugent is right about one thing. Just saw the weather report. Ivan is supposed to hit Tennessee between 2am Friday and 2am Saturday. It has the potential to be a mess. Go Maryville!!
  21. Stupid question - are Spencer Gulmire, Zach Gulmire and Conner Gulmire all brothers??
