Well don't feel too sorry for teams like Dickson. This school has an enrollment of about 400 in the 8th grade alone. At my school we don't even have 750 in four grades. We play Dickson each year and in the conference tournament as well. Let's just say if I took away all the beatings I have taken from Dickson over the years our school record would be very impressive. I don't mind playing them and it's hard to find teams to participate in Middle School sports. The bottom line to all of this is that when you have to drive an hour and 1/2 to play someone in your conference when there are plenty of other schools located within 25 minutes and nothing is forcing them to play. Metro, Montgomery, Williamson, and I am sure other counties don't participate in TMSAA and the association will never get any better without full participation. This is my opinion.

Coachinhoops-- That's a pretty bold statement. Have you seen Cheatham play? If not, why post such a strong remark. If so, who was it against? They can beat anyone if they play well and can be beaten if they don't. I am not sure that you helped McNairy and Chester County any by predicting such a premature ending to Cheatham's season. Who knows what the outcome will be but I hope I get to see the game if they meet.

Noel Smith continues to prove that he is one of the best shooters in the state. He led his team in scoring again with 24 points while draining four 3's. This kid is a great outside shooter and does a great job getting the offense set up for the Cubs. Good win guys. Keep it up!

Who will win it all on Saturday in the small division? Harpeth vs. Lewis County New Prospect vs. Cheatham County My predictions are Harpeth and Cheatham in the finals. That would make two teams from the same county in the Mid-state sectional finals.

I think if the TMSAA is going to continue then you must force schools to participate. You have members playing in the TNT and not the TMSAA and expect to get the best teams. Our school is a member and our principal believes that if you pay money to be in the association then you should also participate in the events. I am not sure if it will ever happen but, Mr. Childress nees to sit down with all participating schools and require them to participate in the tournaments every year not just when you have a winning record. We have a real problem at the middle school level with teams choosing not to play based on how good they are. The high school teams still go to the district tournament whether they have won 10 or 1 in the district. It's time that we either move forward and establish a TMSAA tournament that is welcomed by all or just say forget it and everyone go to the TNT. I know I am not the only one who feels this way so I would appreciate any comments.

You may say the Lewis County team plays well together but without Anderson's 21 they would have been beaten handily. Nothing against the other players but if and I mean if you can find a way to stop her then you should be able to win. Cheatham had a girl in her face the whole night and she still scored 21. Also, Cheatham led by one with a minute to play and Anderson got a rebound. She was fouled and hit two crucial free throws. Cheatham still had two shots to win with 10 seconds left. Don't say they can win if she doesn't have a great game. I don't see that with the caliber of teams left. I still say New Prospect will give Coffman all they want tomorrow in the semis. :justwrestle:

That kid is tough. One of the best inside/out players I've seen this year in middle school. She has a nack for the ball and seems to be in the right place all the time. Excellent free throw shooter as well. She scored 21 of the 32 points for Lewis County. If she's on Friday against Summertown they'll be hard to beat. Personally, I thought New Prospect as the #3 seed was the best looking girls team last night. I would like to see the post from New Prospect and Anderson duke it out for the title.

Does anyone know who won last night in the Large division of the Sectional Tournament?

Does anyone know what colors Lewis County Middle School uses for their uniforms? This is important for Tuesday's tournament in Murfreesboro.

Will Cheatham and David Lipscomb both make to the State Tournament. It would be nice to see both middle Tn teams there. Dorris is tough and Attebery is very experienced.

How did New Prospect girls beat Lewis Co. I thought Lewis County would have won that game. Was this an upset or did New Prospect control the game?

Never count out someone like David Lipscomb.

Casey Attebery once again proved why she is one of the best juniors in the state. She poured in 19pts. against county and district rival Harpeth last night to seal the deal on the no. 1 seed for the district tourney. For those who have not seen the niece of Pat Head Summitt play, you are missing a treat. A small frame but a heart bigger than you can imagine. This kid can knock down a 22 footer or sink countless free throws down the stretch to win the big game. Great job Lady Cubs who are now 21-2 and have momentum going into the Hume Fogg rematch next week.

They are facing a team tonight that always seems to give them a fit. What should the Lady Cubs due to beat the Lady Indians of Harpeth?

Who do you favor in these games? I've not seen any of these teams play but I do plan on going to Murfreesboro to watch good middle school basketball. What teams should I be looking for (girls and boys). Just thought you could give a little insight on these teams.

I brought this up last week and asked if they deserved to be in the top 10 of the AA standings. Well they made it and post an impressive record. However, can they play with a taller, more physical team. I know their guard play is good but what about their post play come tournament time?

The "mid-state" sectional begins on Feb. 9th with the Large division boys and girls playing. Times begin at 12:00 noon and last game is scheduled at 7:30 p.m. The small schools will begin on Feb. 10 and game times are the same as Large schools. Seedings will not be final until Saturday, Feb. 7th.

Update: Girls Cheatham beat William James 43-18 Waverly beat Charlotte 25-8 (I think this was the final score) Dickson will play Harpeth Monday night at Dickson 6:30 tipoff Boys Harpeth pounded Waverly Sycamore and Charlotte were still underway when I left at the half tied 14-14 Cheatham will play Dickson at 8:00 Monday night The top 4 girls teams and top 3 boys from this tournament will travel to Murfreesboro to compete in the TMSAA Sectional tournament starting Feb. 9

That's my fault Eagle Claw. I got information that was incorrect. I was told tonight was the finals. Who is in the semis and who do you see going to the finals Thursday Night?

Actually, Hume Fogg did win the first meeting and they whipped Cheatham on their home court. Cheatham's only other loss came to their county rival Harpeth. So who knows if "The Fogg" can do it again. I think it will be a good game. I agree that Hume Fogg is peaking at the right time especially beating David Lipscomb last night.

I forgot that the championships of the Summertown middle school area tournament is tonight also.

There is also a middle school tournament in Dickson starting at 4:00

I was wondering if any thinks the Cheatham Co. Cubs will enter the top ten rankings this week. They went into 2ot's last night at home against a good Waverly team and came out with a win. They have an 18-2 record and beat David Lipscomb over Christmas break. I have heard a lot of talk about other teams and this one is seldom mentioned. Give me some input.

Does anyone know the results from the Summertown tournament? I know it will finish this weekend but wanted to know who is still winning and who went home.
