1. JCHS 46, Greeneville 50 Greeneville was effective at shutting down the inside game in the first half and forced JC to take more perimeter shots then maybe they wanted to early on- 1 for 9 from three range in the first half. What really hurt JC was not being able to effectively cut into the advantage when Lyons went out with four fouls in the third quarter. It was funny, JC made their biggest comeback when Lyons returned to the game in the fourth. I think early in the game, JC was caught off guard by the amount of pressure Greeneville came with on defense. It seemed like after JC got down by 14 in the second, Coach Potts called a timeout and got some things straighted out and from there on out it was a back and forth game. JC just dug to big a hole to overcome. some final stats, Lyons finished with 21 points for greeneville. Manual finished with 10 rebounds and a pair of steals but offensively she was shut down pretty good. She made a difference on the boards though. For JC - Kyle finished with 15, Huff 12, and Sinard with 8. Sinard gave it her all in the fourth quarter- - four rebounds, two steals and a blocked shot.
2. I agree Rock Hard. It's to early in the season to say which is the better team. About the defensive strategy, just from talking with the coaches, Greeneville was effective at shutting down the inside game in the first half and forced JC to take more perimeter shots then maybe they wanted to early on- 1 for 9 from three range in the first half. 3. Everyone wants to talk about abuse but wont come out and say whether it was physical abuse or verbal abuse. If it was verbal abuse then all these spoiled brats that think they can run their mommy and daddy down to the school board and whine need to grow up. If you can't take the heat, stay out of the kitched. What would you like? A coach that will hold their hand, walk them down the court, and wipe their butt for them
4. If he has never physically harmed a kid, i don't see the problem.
5. Greeneville fans say Greeneville will win, Jeff Co fans say Jeff will win. In 3 more hours there will be no more debating. As for one team knowing one another better, and think the fact that they met four times last year means that each of them knows the other pretty well. Everyone in the conference knows what Ashley Huff is gonna do. The problem is stopping her. Everyone knows what Lyons is gonna do - again, gotta stop her. Last year the split a pair of regular season, and a pair of post season games. They may meet five times this year. Who knows? lets just kick back and enjoy.
6. Raiderray, saw sarah tonight, no crutches, seems to be walking fine. Didnt get a chance to talk to her.

8. Yeah, from what i know, she switched from her old braces to the new ones before the game and [trainer] didn't know about it. Anyway, I'm just curious to see how her knees do hold up this season, considering their was some talk before the season that her knee problems may force her not to play bball this season anyway.
9. Why is Cherokee High School ranked #3 in the coacht rankings, ahead of jeff county and greeneville?
10. Raiderray, What is the latest word on Sinard? I can find out tonight but didnt know if you had heard anything
11. I agree Barb, the IMAC is definitely not balanced except for the fact that you have two really good teams, three really bad teams, and West somewhere in the middle. West will definiatly be put in a hole this Friday when they have to play Greeneville without Kadlitz. If she is out until January and has to miss West first meeting with Jeff Co. they could get eliminated pretty early. Besides, i just dont see the Kadlitz-Gray combo being able to compete with JCHS GHS anyway. You are correct that Kyle and Huff played with Manual and Lyons for coach this summer. Kyle has been doing some amazing stuff early this season and I believe her to be the best two-guard in the conference. All we can hope for is at least two if not four like last year very competitve games between JCHS GHS beginning this Tuesday.
12. Barb, just how good is Greeneville this year? I know its hard to tell when the competition is Johnson County but what can you tell us about the Lady Devils? Can their two premier players carry them deep into the post season again this year? Do they have enough depth to continually beat some of the top teams in the statE?
13. The key to the game on Tuesday will be whether or not Chambers can step in and provide quality minutes. Huff and Rickard were noticably worn out late in the second half against Boone and Chambers is the only reserve post player on the roster. It will be critical that Huff and Rickard have fresh legs late in a close game. Remember that three of the four Jeff County wins this season have been by double digits, so it hasnt been necessary to be at full speed in the fourth quarter. That wont be the case against Greeneville.
14. Ray, how bout we do this. We will make a thread for each month starting with this one for December. That way we wont have to keep the preseason thread going. Now to tonights game. Jeff County 54 - Daniel Boone 41 The game was even less close than the score indicated. Jeff County led for 20+ for most of the game until Sarah Jane Sinard went down in the third quarter. DB followed with an 8-0 run to cut the deficit to around 10. Sinard has had recurring knee problems and got hit the wrong way. They are going to wait until in the morning to see how she reacts to it and go from there. [trainer] doesnt expect her to be out for an extended period of time. Potts says they will work with Ashley Kyle at point and place Demika Holt in the 2 gaurd just in case Sinard has to miss a few days. Another injury note- Freshman Katisha Mattison was cleared to play yesterday and sat out tonights game as a precaution after an MCL injury. She is expected to start practicing this week and be ready for the greeneville game. Ashley Huff picked up the slack tonight with 27 points and 9 rebounds. Lindsay Lyke also had a big first half with 10. Jefferson County has a week to prepare for a road trip to Greeneville next tuesday. Greeneville is coming off a showcase win over Johnson County 83-19 although the competition wasn't exactly world class. As weak as the IMAC is this season, one team has a chance to put the other behind the 8 ball early, as greeneville and west sqaure off friday and then greene and jeff on tuesday. Greeneville's only loss is a56-45 defeat to Harpeth Hall. The #1 team in the state according to coach t. Greeneville is 28th JCHS is 15th
15. What is the deal with the Kingsport double header on 17th and 18th
16. Dont understand the first two comments by Barb - start strong and fade, and Johnnystrikeout - went into the playoffs deflated The Lady Patriots won seven straight to end the regular season last year with wins over Bearden and Maryville and a 40-point blowout of science hill. The Lady Patriots February schedule is almost the same this year and I dont see any of those teams give the Lady Patriots trouble. Sevier County is on the schedule but from watching them in the Thanksgiving tournament, they arent the same caluber team as the past few years.
17. All good points Ray. Talking with people close to the Morristown West program, Kadlitz probably wont be 100 % when the two teams meet on January 7th. The only change to Morrisown West from last year really is the fact that they have had to add a couple of newcomers to the lineup. And although they did upset Jeff County at West last season, I tend to think the 23-point blowout in the district tournament will be more of a reflection of how this years series will go. Other than Kadlitz, West wasn't able to compete Rickard Huff and Chambers down low, and other than Gray, they dont have a proven shooter to step up and make up for the lack of an inside game. I may be mistaken but i don't remember much of an inside game from west last year and that puzzles me because looking at their roster they have a couple of 6'0 girls and a few that ar 5'9 and 5'10. But all i remember is Gray throwing up basket after basket. West is 1-3 on the season with losses to Oak Ridge, Tennessee High and Elizabethton. All three games were close so I will reserve judgement until Friday when they host Greeneville. But unless they play Greeneville close, I wont believe they will be a factor come end of the season. As for Jeff Co. I believe the fact that they havent put four quarters together yet is because 1- their eight girl rotation features a pair of sophomores with little varsity experience and a freshman who is out until the Greeneville game. 2- because two of the games have been blowouts and it a big task for a high school age player to remained focused in a 20-point game. That being said, I believe that once Chambers, Holt, and mattison get a half a season under their belt, they will be able to contribute just as much as the first team. Holt is already showing that she is more comfortable running the court with or without sinard on the floor, evident by her quality baskets in the first half against south greene. By christmas i see her making smarter decisions with the basketball and not seeing a dropoff when sinard gets a rest. Chambers is also seeing action early and will be a tremendous assett in the paint, once she gets adjusted to the physical aspects of the varsity game. As far as remaining focused, i believe that once conference play heats up, the girls will realize that they have to play with the same intensity for the entire contest. That was definiatly the case late last year when the Lady Patriots ran off 11 straight wins.
18. Didn't see a topic solely directed at this so here we go. The Jefferson County Lady Patriots completely dominated the field in the Chop House Holiday Classic this past weekend at Central High School. The only team that was able to give the Lady Patriots any competition was Farragut in the semifinals. The thing to point out about the tournament was that traditional East Tennessee powers struggled, namely Sevier County and South Greene. South Greene did make it to the championship game but was completely demolished by Jeff Co. The Lady Patriots led by 20+ for the large part of the game and the only thing that made the final score remotely close was the fact that Coach Potts played freshman and sophomores for the fourth quarter. Jefferson County placed their entire starting lineup (kyle, huff, rickard, lyke, and sinard) on the all-tournament team. Coach Potts said that that was a testament to the number of weapons his team has this season. Each one of these girls averaged double digits for the tournament, except for maybe sinard. I forgot what she had the first night, but what she brings to the court (other than scoring) is so valuable that she will probably be the best point guard in Region 1-AAA this season. Jefferson County will have their first home game Tuesday against Daniel Boone. Boone is usually a powerhouse in east tennessee, losing only two games last season and winning thier third straight distict 1-aaa title. They seem to be struggling this year though at 2-2. They opened their season with a 14 point loss to greeneville, the same team that knocked them out of the regions last year. The next game on the schedule for jeff co. will be next Tuesday when they travel to greeneville. As week as the rest of the teams in district 2 are this season, this game and the game on jan. 21 between the two teams will probably determine the 1st place team. While its highly unlikely that the Lady Patriots will go undefeated this season, the only teams on the schedule that should give them trouble are Greeneville, Oak Ridge, and maybe Sevier County. I don't know much about Clinton or Maryville at this point in the season so maybe someone can offer some info on those two teams.
19. Doesn't really matter. Jefferson County had the best team last year since the days when Parker, Etherton, Shiverdecker, Woods and the rest of them were there and they still got blew out by SH on two occasions. The fact of the matter is, the school is never going to produce enough talent to compete with the likes of Science Hill and other schools of that caliber. The talent is just not there. If you think replacing Holt on last years team with another average player is going to make a difference then...
20. Pipdad and Shortie, It was an nside joke with PJ, no need to be alarmed
21. I don't think Chambers will be able to make a difference this year. Her brother was awful last year on the boys team so basketball talent probably doesn't run in the family.
22. Ill be at the Jefferson - Bearden game and also have contacts at the sevier county game. If anyone is going to the CC-Karns game and wants to text message score updates back in forth, let me know. You can email me at DZpocketaces@cs.com
23. JC4Life Bearden runs a 4-3 and 50 defense. They rely a lot on Pickle, he is their QB but will also line up as RB and play some defense. He has thrown for 400 or 500 yards but has 9 ints to 3 tds. He is the second leading rusher with 230 yards. The leading rusher just has about 300. They gave up 251 yards to Pate at SC last week. They have been outscored 97-0 in the first quarter.
24. Thats what im asking JC, I started one post telling how Jeff Co could make the playoffs and it ends up getting shut down because someone wants to use my post to bash the coach. Make your own post if you want to do that.
