  1. Why is it that we hear the same message time and time again? In 2004 when DB's 35ppg offense got held to 10 points it was "our offense had a bad night, we didn't play well" Last year, when DB got 90% of their points over TO's taking over at the 40 and 50 every time it was "our offense didn't have a good night." The truth from friday night is just as true as it was in 2004, JC defensive line whipped DB's offensive line, and when you line gets whipped your offense usually doesn't have a good day. What was true in 2004 and last year was true last night, JC turning the ball over and giving DB great field position helped an otherwise struggling DB offense. Had DB been forced to drive the field for their scores instead of starting where the majority of their scoring drives started from DB would have never scored anywhere near 28pts(or 35 for those of you who don't know the rules of the game). Have fun getting bounced in the 1st round, AT HOME, AGAIN by a #4 seed from region 2.
  2. That is flat out BS, and you should know better. In previous years the sign has read "scalp the Indians" and big stinks were made over them. Stop trying stir up stuff that isn't there
  3. Alright enough of this crap! Both sides can whine and moan till they're blue in the face, but the truth is that there is plenty of blame on both sides for why friday nights game was as bad as it was. Neither side should be proud of the way they played, and refs should not have let things get out of hand. None of this would have happened if the refs had grabbed control of the game early and kept control. If you want to start pointing fingers at JC you to recognized how things got to the way they did. #71 and #67 for DB started the extracurricular activities IN THE 1ST QUARTER, they plowed over guys after the whistle several times, JC's QB got hit after the whistle while he was trying to get up off the field, apparently DB put an idict out to hit our #14 because he got drilled several times after the whistle. JC's players responded usually a play or two later, both teams talked junk ALL NIGHT LONG. All this happened in the 1st half and the refs should have put a stop to it then. Both coaches should have been warned that if things continued players were going to start being tossed. I didn't get to see much in the 2nd half because I was stuck in no mans land and all of the plays when DB players got injured happened on the other side of the field from where the JC stands were. The line did plenty of cutting, there's no doubt about that. Was JC intentionally trying to chop block players, its hard to say, I can see DB thinking so based on what happened. Was there retaliation on JC's part based on what happened earlier in the game, it sure looked that way based on how much more cutting we did in the 2nd half than the 1st half. HOWEVER sending linemen out to cut, is a lot different than sending players out to intentionally hurt other players or intentionally chop block. You may not like it but RB's block below the waist on pass protection all the time, from high school all the way up to the pros, its seldom called. I remember last year a college RB got top highlight for causing an opposing LB to do a front flip when he picked up a blitz. The refs should have called JC on as many chop blocks, and blocking below the waist outside the tackle box as they saw, as stands I believe they called JC twice for it. Any retaliation chop blocks, or cuts outside the tackles is inexcusable, however you have to understand that what happened in the 1st half of game translated to what happened in the 2nd half. There were more personal fouls by both teams(some that were called, some that weren't) than I've seen in a game in a loooooooong time. The refs should have kept control over the game, period.
  4. Definately one of the worse officiated games I've see, refs wouldn't let either team get anything going before throwing out the yellow. It was just an ugly game all the way around, 6 or 7 fumbles combined by both teams, loads of personal fouls/unsportsman penalties, WR's overthrown all game. I don't think either team played particularly well, and any time they did the refs threw out the hanky.
  5. Thats correct, the winner of the Jeff County/Sevier Co game will automatically make the playoffs starting next year. Personally I don't like it, but thats the TSSAA for you
  6. I agree that DB has a distinct speed advantage, but I surely hope that DB is not 42pts better than us. If the last few years are any indication DB will load the box with everyone but the corners, blitz the house and dare JC to throw. How stubborn we are win the run game will determine what the score is, sure we need to run the ball, but banging our head against a 9 man wall and getting 3 and outs will help no one but DB. If it were me and DB comes out in the same defense they`ve played us with the last 4 years, I`d call nothing but fade routes every play until they get out of that defense. Its a lot easier to run against 7 men, then 9, and I haven't see DB play us with 2 safeties back since 2003. DB is going to score and there's very little way around it. Like against Greenville, we better be prepared to score 28+ pts in order to stay in the game, probably more than that.
  7. Unfortunately, the Jeff County team that pounded Greenville into submission has yet to make a reappearance(there were flashes against Campbell Co but it was Campbell Co). We have to play well more consistently, not just good one week bad the next. In recent years JC has usually played DB close for a half or 3 quarters then DB pulls away. Provided we don't turn the ball over early, I expect a similar type of game this year. Who knows, maybe this year will be the year we break the streak /blink.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="" border="0" alt="blink.gif" />
  8. Game????? What Game??????? /ph34r.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="" border="0" alt="ph34r.gif" />
  9. There are not going to be as many available 6A schools as you might think. Region 4, which will contain Bearden, Farragut, Knoxville West, Maryville, and William Blount all have 8 region games that they have to play no matter what(six of which will be against other 6A schools) What exactly would be their motivation for putting any other 6A team on the schedule, most of those schools already have built in rivalries with other schools that they will want on the schedule(like Maryville with Aloca/Knox Central, or Knox West with Knox Central). The 6A teams in regions 1,2 and 3 are going to have to play either other in the regular season if for no other reason than to play more than one 6A team before the playoffs. That leaves Karns, Oak Ridge, Science Hill, and DB, Jeff County, and Sevier County as 6A teams to make a schedule with. Maryville is only going to have one open slot in the schedule if they continue to play Aloca(and why wouldn't they) so DB is going to have to get in line with O.R, Knox Central, Mo West, Halls, and anyone else who wants to play Maryville. It simply makes sense for the two teams to keep playing each other. From DB's perspective we're the closest 6A team with a pulse that will have an open schedule. From our perspective we have to get either DB or O.R on the schedule(maybe both) because they may be the only high quality teams we face all year prior to the playoffs. We're going to be playing in one of the weakest regions in the state, if either Sevier Co, West or East has a bad year we're going to be left with maybe two good region opponents all year long. As far as possibly facing DB or S.Hill in the 1st round, I'm not 100% sure of this but I would guess that regions 1 and 4 will face off, and regions 2 and 3 will face off. Either way thats no reason not to play DB or S.Hill, we've faced DB in the playoffs how many while being in the same region? Better to be battle tested going in than to play nothing but 5A teams and not have faced the same class of team we will be seeing come playoff time.
  10. I think there will be a lot of schools that will be lining up for their shot at Maryville, DB may have to get in line
  11. This shouldn't be the last regular season JC/DB, while we won't be in the same region anymore DB needs to be a fixture on the schedule to prepare us for 6A play once the playoffs starts. The last thing we need is to inflate our future win total by playing no good 5A teams then think we can make noise once the playoffs begin. DB and another 6A team need to be on the out of region schedule from here on out.
  12. I never said East didn't have a good team, that doesn't mean that 28-7 is an acceptable score for JC.
  13. Sad, sad day when we lose to East 28-7 So much for that win streak
  14. Should be an interesting game, biggest question for JC IMO is how much will the offense change with Darby at QB instead of McFall. Last week is some indication, but Darby was just thrown in the fire with no specific gameplan tailored to his skill set. Will we see a more balanced run/pass attack, or continue to bang away with the run game as much as possible(kinda hoping for the latter). We haven't lost to East in lord knows how long, I`m sure they're more than ready to see our win streak end. Shouldn't happen this year however
  15. Its easy to look good on offense when you take over at the 50yd or better, West had one scoring drive that wasn't off a turnover. Get over yourself
  16. Other plays gets us yards, we don't run them over and over
  17. Come on now, it takes Coach Brimer a few mins to decide which side to call the FB dive to /roflol.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":roflol:" border="0" alt="roflol.gif" />
  18. Who have you heard from JC say they expect to win the state championship? And especially citing their reasoning being beating Greenville?
  19. JC better regroup, this is a region game and in the grand scheme of things is a lot more important than the previous two games. Playoffs spots start to go on the line this week, so we'd better be ready to come out from the word go, and TAKE CARE OF THE FOOTBALL!
  20. I`ve said this for awhile now, we`ll run a play that doesn't work well 20 times, but plays that work we'll only run once or twice. We spread out West with 4WR and gained 4yds on a draw, never saw that play or formation the rest of the game. Called a screen got 15+yds, never saw it again, saw none of the 4WR sets that worked so well against Greenville. Threw one slant, no stop routes, easy pass plays that we should be able to complete whenever we want to. Another I noticed was at the end of the half, we didn't get into any kind of hurry up offense, we were still running WR's in from the sideline burning up the clock. Even going back to last year in close games I never remember seeing us in any kind of hurry up offense, do we even have a hurry up offense?
  21. I`ll keep this short, with that many turnovers we wouldn't have beat the school for the blind, deaf, and mute much less West. On to Campbell Co
  22. I`m very interested in seeing how JC will do from the favorite position, this team has done well from the underdog role and have embraced people not believing or questioning them. The us against the world, nobody believes in us days appear to be over, so how this team responds tonight will go along way toward predicting how the rest of the season may play out. JC has been able to come out loose and relatively care free going into games because so many have expected the opponent to play will. Now the pressure is on JC to win, and from the sound of things win convincingly. The first quarter is going to tell a lot, I expect JC to come out very jacked, and someone tight but calm down and loosen up as the game goes along. No matter who starts for West at QB I fully expect West to try protect whoever is playing QB and not ask them to win or lose the game themselves. If West can sustain drives it could turn into a long night, being a JC fan we all know what happens even to a good defense if they are on the field too long. I know some people are predicting blowouts, or at least high scoring, but I don't think we'll see either Final Score JC-21 Mo West 14
  23. Yes Sir! Come early, cheer loudly, and let's kick the dog poop out of Mo West /hungry.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":hungry:" border="0" alt="hungry.gif" />
