  1. Ladies and Gentalmen, I will like to make you arware of the 2006-07 Booker T. Washington Lady Warriors. Last year, this team lost their last two games to Hillcrest and Jackson North Side, the AA champions and runner-ups. However, the team will return a core of players led by Seniors Valencia Tucker and Latrice Bayman. They have added a senior pg from St. Mary's Academy. With last years freshman gaining experiance throughout the summer, this team will make some noise and contend for the AA state championship. So don't act like you where not warned at the end of the season when you see the Booker T. Washington Lady Warriors in the Championship game.
  2. I think the record was broken by Tauren "T-Head" Moy from BTW in 2001, I know he holds the 3 point record.
  3. This is the most bias post I have ever seen from a group of individuals who spend their time talking about high school basketball. What do you know about Memphis Basketball or the kids from Memphis? For the record, Memphis basketball teams have dominated the state championships. AA - Kingsbury 1998 Carver 1999, BTW2001, (2) Ridgeway 2000, 02 AAA Memphis East 1996, White Station 2000, 02,,03,04 Ridgeway 05, Hamilton 06. What do you have to say about those teams. Yet we are proud of the talent of Memphis players, their skills and ability, how hard they play. That team was told by everyone all year that if they did not win the State Championship then they where failures. How would you react? Also, should I judge the rest of the people in your town on your comments?
  4. I don't know what exactly happend, but I can say this. Often times as the leader Coaches are blamed for everything, but they have never taken a shot or had a turnover in any game. When dealing with teenagers, who often have their own agendas, sometimes what you plan is not what they do. With a team like Mitchell, they had too many outside influences (ie, parents, administrors, AAU coaches, Boosters, friends, etc) and in most cases they have more influence then the coach. But I can say this, Coach Johnson may be the blame for the lose, but he has won a state championship at Kingsbury, so he must know something about coaching.
  5. Booker T. Washington Lady Warriors from Memphis,TN. Played 8 freshmen this year and made it to the sectional before a total melt down. Returning Valencia Tucker as a senior after averaging 19 points (1400 in 3yrs) 11 rebounds(766 in 3yrs), and 5 assist per game this year. Latrice Bayman the top assist person in Metro Memphis this year, second in steals, two 6'1 Freshman in Jessica Brown and Diara Hester, and 5'9 freshman Monique Ingram. Watch out for this team next year they are loaded and the experiance of playing in the sectionals two out of the last three years will help Coach Hunter get his team ready for the road next year. MARK MY WORDS BTW WILL BE IN THE CHAMPIONSHIPS NEXT YEAR.
  6. Hillcrest will press the crap out of JNS their point is week and their bench is limited. Delk is not as strong as yall hype her out to be. She is big inside and can make a layup. JNS can not stop Whitney and Crystal. They will jump out on them in the first five minutes and never look back. We held JNS to only 7 points in the 2nd quarter and forced alot of turnovers in our sectional game and we stunk up the gym, especially after Valencia Tucker got hurt with 2:45 left in the 1st half. JNS is a good team and can make the open shot, but Hillcrest will make it hard for them to get the ball down the floor and inside to the big girl. By the way Hillcrest by 12. I am a Hillcrest Alumni and it is about time that a team from Memphis put it all together and win this thing. With our entire team returning next year, expect BTW to be in the finals next year. Memphis girls basketball is not what it use to be.
  7. Yeah we also played both teams and lost, Hillcrest in the regional finals and JNS in the Sectional. I will give the edge to Hillcrest. JNS will not be able to handle Hillcrest press. We forced 16 turnovers against then and Delk is not as polish as I thought she missed a lot of shots against us. Hillcrest will play a 1-3-1 against them and win the game easy. Hillcrest will jump out on the early and never look back. JNS jumped out on us with hot shooting, but we got it together in the 2nd quarter and held them to only 7 points, five of which where after Valencia Tucker go hurt with 2:45 in the half. It is time for a AA team from Memphis to finally get it together and win this thing. Please lets not complain about the refs Memphis teams have been getting the short end of the stick for years. Oh, by the way expect BTW to be in the Championship next year. Our entire team will be back including our two 6'1 Freshmen and Valencia Tucker. Not taking anything away from JNS, they are a good team and we under estimated their ability to shoot the ball outside, but I am a Hillcrest alumni and a Memphian.
  8. The top three must be MONSTERS on the court because I know that #4 Timothy "Ray Ray" Ware IS. This young man dominates when he is on the court. "The Truth" is what the Commercial Appeal labeled him. Against powerhouse Mitchell in the regional semi-finals, he had 31 points while they "tried" to box and one him the entire game. If you have ever saw this young man play you will see exactly what I am talking about. With an improved jumper, he is making it almost impossible to defend him.
  9. Congratulations to the Booker T. Washington Lady Warriors who where defeated last night by the number 1 team in the state. The Lady Warriors finished the season with a record of 24-9. The Lady Warriors made it to the final sixteen with only two seniors Lorna Howard and Jasmine Campbell, three juniors Valencia Tucker, Latrice Bayman, and Marquetta Ingram, one sophomore Keisha Patterson and 8 freshman, Monique Ingram, Jessica Brown, Daira Hester, Jaquita Burt, Samantha Ruffin, Jalisa Moon, Skylar Tuggers, and Keosha Wright. In last night's game the Lady Warriors struggled out the gate and could never recover, especially after Junior Sensation Valencia Tucker we down with a dislocated shoulder midway through the second quarter.
