  1. I e-mailed the TSSAA with this same question here is the reply I received from Ronnie Carter: "They should be counted as all other games, because they are regular season games. I could play a district game as one and could also use my two nights to play in third invitational tournament. That having been said, you will always have some that don't count losses and do count wins." RC
  2. Who did they beat 3 times that year? They split with Oneida in the regular season and didn't play them in the tournament until the Region Championship and lost.
  3. I was being facetious with my comment. This is the dumbest thing I have ever seen.
  4. Great post gym to gym! I am a firm believer that a coach should never cover his/her face during a game. It sounds like you have real problems, for the most part.
  5. Faith+1 - I agree with most things you say, but not that Vespie's are the only reason Wartburg is a good team. Yes, David Vepsie was very good. He put them on the map in the world of basketball, along with other members of his teams, but The teams since then have had good talent along with all the Vespie boys. Paul was talented, but had help. Jonathan was also talented, but had more help. Adam, is talented, but has a lot of help. The Shannon boys and Inman, and big Melton are good ball players too. Not to mention the Bulldogs have one of the best young coaches in East TN with Joe Layne. I wish the best to the Bulldogs the rest of the season...looking forward to a great tournament!
  6. It will be nice to see how Coalfield plays against Wartburg. Coalfield, beat Oneida and Oakdale, and Oliver Springs...Oneida beat Wartburg, but lost to Oliver Springs, Coalfield, and Oakdale...Wartburg beat Coalfield by 31 earlier this season. It's easy to tell this District is up for grabs at the moment. Rockwood/Wartburg leading, with Oneida/Coalfield/Harriman/Oakdale in the mix... In the Coalfield/Wartburg--Round 2--Wartburg won at their place, but the Jackets are very confident at home. If I'm not mistaken, Coalfield won @ Coalfield last year. I think it will be +/- 3 points. Wartburg coming off a big win versus Rockwood. Oneida/Coalfield -- Round 2 -- it is at Oneida, and the Indians play well at home... However, Coalfield has played well so far, and if they win versus Wartburg, then they can ride that emotion into Oneida...Take your pick...
  7. what was the Coalfield Sunbright final score? I turned off the radio and it was 35-22 with under 4:00 to go.
  8. SCHS#23 Have you read the other comments here? He is a sophomore in high school. Ainge will be a senior when he gets here and Crompton will be a junior or RS sophomore.
  9. Pugs I think it's wrath not rath... I am glad to see that you have positive things to say about the team, but I am still shocked that you would place burden on them by comparing them to teams of the 90's. I don't see how that would help them. Oh and you left one out, L. Armstrong. If you were at the game last night at Greenback, and I know you were, you saw him providing great help on defense, getting steals, and making the most "heads-up" play of the season by tipping a loose ball to Welch and then running the court for the layup. Louis is also one of the most improved players this season. Well, everyone is 0-0 now. Records don't matter anymore, it is put-up or shut-up time.
  10. yet another gutless fan I still don't understand why you aren't the coach. Did you put in for this job last year, or the year before? I would love for you to post your resume so that everyone on here can see your credentials. If you are going to talk about Coach Windles problems, then why don't you tell us your background and exactly how you have confronted problems such as this that you were faced with on the teams that you have coached. I also want to know where these expectations for state tournaments are. I did some research and found that Oneida has been to the state tournament 4 times. They have been to 3 final 4's. It's not like they have been every year or something. That must mean for a lot of mediocre years according to you.
  11. 1) How do you know I dont coach? 2) I dont think I ever ripped Coach Barnes. 3) Why are you so defensive? 4) Do you think Oneida is my school?? or Scott county for that matter? 5) How about some honest insight, with all juniors and seniors on the floor, what excuse can you concoct if Oneida loses on Monday? 6) If you are an Oneida fan, are you satisfied with mediocrity and excuses? 7) The goal is Murfreesboro each and every year at Oneida not to look cool and play some teams "close", isn't it? 1) If you do coach, then you need to be fired for ripping another coach behind their back instead of having the guts to confront them 2)Unless there was another Pugs, I think you were critical of him too 3)I believe in Coach Windle. I have seen coaches come and go at Oneida. I have seen the good and the bad. Coach Windle is trying to do the right things and the last thing this team needs right now is someone like you trying to dismantle them. 4)I know Oneida is your school, it's obvious from your posts 5)I don't care what grade they are in, if they are focused they will be fine, if not they might lose, that's up to the kids. 6)what is mediocre about this year? they have almost tripled their wins from last year, they beat the top team in the district (who only lost one starter off of last years sub-state team), they have been competitive in most every game, they have a brutal out of district schedule --- and what are the excuses, I haven't heard any 7)How many times has the men's team gotten to Murfreesboro? 5 or 6? so how is it a disappointment for this team this year if they don't make it? How many times did you make it? Barnes was close twice, does that mean he didn't do a good job? Eldridge made it once in his tenure, Hall had enormous talent and made it to the semifinals only once, then you have to go back to 1929, were you on that team back when it all started? I think every coach in the state wants to get to the state tournament, but only a few are actually blessed enough to have the talent and luck to get there. Yes, luck is a big part of getting to the state tournament. Go back to the year Eldridge went to the final 4. They lost to a poor Oakdale team and lost the last 2 games of the year. Were you on him then? Just some food for thought.
  12. Pugs, I think you oughta be the coach. You seem to have so much basketball intelligence. Why aren't you coaching? Is it easier to sit behind a keyboard and be critical of everyone else? It seems to me that you were on here a few years ago being critical of Coach Barnes when he was at Oneida. Yeh, I remember that too. Now Barnes is suddenly great. You are a typical fan/parent. When the going gets a little rough you jump on the "bash the current coach" bandwagon. The whole deal at the Scott/Anderson game has been stretched and turned in every direction. I wasn't there and I have heard numerous "conflicting" stories. All I know is that people on both sides keep the feud going, not just Oneida. I have stood on the sidelines of football games and sat in the bleachers of basketball games for several years now at Oneida. I have seen Scott Co. football and basketball players come to the games and sit with opposing fans. They have cheered for the opposing teams and I didn't think anything of it. You know why? I don't care. I am worried more about what our teams do than what someone else thinks. I am not concerned with everyone else. I support our coaches and our kids. I don't get on message boards to bash my own school when I don't know the whole story. I don't get on local talk shows bashing the "school up the road." I don't send letters to the local paper to try to heat up the feud. I cheer for our kids, for our teams. As for the 90's teams, wouldn't we all like to have a 6'11" center who signed with Wake Forest, or a 6'1" SG who had Division I offers, or maybe a Post like Stan Pennington who could score on any sized opponent. That's just 3 of many good players who played during that era. I know you already know all this with your great basketball intelligence. Does Oneida have these caliber players this year? I know they have some good athletes and great kids, but I don't know of anyone in Single A that has anything compared to this.
  13. Kingston beat Unaka by 15, not 5.
  14. Biggamer, What's your deal? While I must confess that you all usually have a good middle school team, your high school team has only scored 13 points this year! You should be more worried about what is going on down there when your kids get to high school. P.S. Good luck against Sweetwater this week.
