  1. Well, all this information from the OHS dugout (and others) seems to confirm what I wrote earlier. Looks like the Owls really weren't interested in winning last night at Red Bank. And it showed on the field. Don't get me wrong, I'm a fan. I actually showed up hoping to see some good baseball. I was under the impression that every game meant something. But they were lucky to come out of the Red Bank games with a win.
  2. I saw the game at Red Bank and I have to agree with broadbat. Was Coach Massey trying to lose? He waved home a runner in the 1st inning, who had no chance to score, killing a potential rally. And he left the starting pitcher (?) in way too long. There was nobody even warming up after he couldn't get anybody out in the 1st inning. Meanwhile, there are all of these All-America pitchers available to use, in a district game. It just seemed like Ooltewah didn't care about this one. Looking down the road, Red Bank looks like it will be in a lot better shape than Ooltewah in the years to come. Red Bank's younger players own Ooltewah's younger pitching. If Red Bank's coach doesn't lose them in the years to come, they should own district.
  3. When and where does Red Bank play Central?
  4. Why did Ooltewah throw a sophomore against Central in a district game??? Did they take it for granted???
  5. Wow. Congrats to the Pounders. What happens next? Most of us had already handed over the district crown to the "unbeatable" Owls. Will this make them stronger, or will they implode early this year? Did Markum's injury hurt them that much? Is Central good enough to contend against Ooltewah, SD and Red Bank, or did they just have everything going right tonight? A lot of questions I know.
  6. Is this for real? Got any details?
  7. 19 to nothing? With Red Bank's SEC ace on the mound? Wow. That's the worst case of opening day jitters ever.
  8. Nothing new in the TFP article. What else would Kinsey say? The trustees are circling the wagons, trying to put out the fire by letting Stacy be the sacrificial lamb. He has no choice. Anyone who believes he made the Austin Clark and David Bibee moves with no input or instruction from the trustees is naive. I look for him to leave in the near future, probably getting an early payout. Baylor is many things, but above all, it's a big business, run by old-money, 3rd and 4th generation millionaires. And the trustees aren't going to let this little controversy get in the way of their goals. They're used to getting their way, and this episode is no different.
  9. Since coachathome would not be specific, I have taken the time to list the programs in which Baylor has won state titles the past couple of years. Presumably the folks behind these sports do not like Coach Clark. At least that is what coachathome is implying: Wrestling (Duals) Wrestling (Traditional) Softball Boys Golf Girls Golf Girls Fencing
  10. Check this out...the fun is just beginning: http://www.thankyoucoachclark.com/
  11. Time for a little reality check: with the exception of one player (3b), that was basically ND's starting lineup in that game, for the whole game. The catcher was out of position, but he's a senior and an everyday player. The first baseman is also an everyday player, just not at that position (and he did well at first base). The outfielders were all seniors, as was the starting pitcher. ND did put some inexperienced pitchers in later (one freshman, and one senior) but they were certainly trying to win....and they lost to Central. Some good clutch hitting on Central's part, but the new coach has got plenty of problems. They should have won bigger than they did. The defense was awful. A routine grounder to third got through everybody, rolling to the fence for a four-base error. A routine single to right rolled to the fence for a "triple." A pop up to the catcher, right behind home plate dropped in while the catcher, third baseman and pitcher all stared at each other. So Central might be better this year, but there's a long way to go.
  12. Not only that, but Baylor has some bigger problems on the horizon. When the new Signal Mtn. High School opens in a couple of years, Baylor's enrollment will take a huge hit. My friends on Signal tell me hundreds who would have gone to Baylor will go to the new school...including some stud athletes.
  13. "What happens at Baylor....stays at Baylor." Sounds like something Tony Soprano might say. Pity the poor parents who are shelling out 17 grand a year for the honor and loyalty oozing out of this revered institution. What a joke.
  14. There's certainly nothing funny about the Baylor debacle. Bill Stacy comes off as dishonest, while pandering to the puppeteers who pay his salary....the gang of 3 trustees puts their counterparts at Auburn and Tennessee to shame...and the gaggle of harrumphing 4th generation Baylor apologists sound pretty shallow as they circle the wagons, claiming everybody is happy....where never is heard a discouraging word. But there is one amusing, perhaps ironic sidebar to all of this. As everyone in Chattanooga knows, the area's population is divided between those who are fortunate enough to be able to afford Baylor (and its big money competitors) and those who can't. Added to the mix, of course are gifted athletes whose tuition is, shall we say, supported by uh, civic-minded alums. Yeah, that's the ticket. It has long been a custom for public school coaches who happen to have athletically inclined offspring, to switch to Baylor, etc. about the time their talented children reach admission age. Heck of a deal: daddy gets to coach, junior gets to go the big school and play ball absolutely free. Here's the rub. I know of two such coaches, who have long looked forward to following this path, bathing in Baylor's glory. They get the lifetime Baylor gig, and their superstar kids don't have to mix in with those unwashed public schoolers. Hmmm...wonder if the recent snafus, the upcoming court action and the unsettled athletic dept. shakeup have some of these guys pondering their futures? Just asking.
  15. Do my eyes deceive me? Is Red Bank playing Baylor? Even in a scrimmage, that's a shocker. I don't think those two schools have played a baseball game against each other in years. I'm surprised RB's coach is going along with this....there's reportedly a lot of bad blood.
  16. Again, it all goes back to 2 little words: "Beat McCallie." And another word: Politics. Still waiting to see if John Hannah takes legal action against Baylor for the wild little ride they gave him.
  17. Since the Baylor trustees who engineered this fiasco won't come forward, let me spell it out. Baylor must defeat McCallie. Hasn't happened too often in recent years. I think Bibee could have beaten everybody else 49-0, but losing to McCallie is too much for some of the $$$ guys to bear. Clark stood behind Bibee, because they both have good morals and integrity. That didn't fly with the $$$ guys. Agreed, it's not Stacy's fault. He's just following the $$$. Clark and Bibee will do just fine. But there's a foul odor on Baylor School Road. Let's face it. Baylor would hire William Cotton as athletic director if he could dominate McCallie every year. Now there's a little dose of truth for you. The Baylor apologists can whine about Ronnie Carter all day, but he's just telling it like it is.
  18. Ronnie Carter was being kind. You should hear what actual Baylor teachers and parents are saying. It isn't flattering.
  19. The other shoe has now dropped. AD and basketball coach Austin Clark has been forced to resign, in large part because some of Baylor's sugar daddy money men are displeased with the Bibee/Hannah situation. There's definitely trouble in paradise.
  20. Headmaster Bill Stacy is being, well...less than honest. It took Baylor 16 years to figure out that AD and Baskeball Coach is "too much for one person?" Gimme a break. Now for a jolt of truth. There are 3 or 4 Baylor boosters ($$$ rules at Baylor) who were ticked off at the Bibee-Hannah football situation. Obviously they convinced Stacy to bounce Bibee, and now they got Clark. Clark's integrity, which is unmatched, had nothing to do with this. It's strictly about $$$, politics, and "who ya know." Baylor's administration and PR flacks will continue to deny, deny, deny...and the local media, which bows at Baylor's altar, will sprinkle rose petals all over this story. But it's a shame, and Baylor parents should be embarassed about what has happened to two good men.
  21. Pearl-Cohn. Without a doubt.
  22. Wow...Macon Co. fans just talked a week's worth of unnecessary smack... And I think we all know who Devin Carthorn is now. Congratulations NDHS 11-0
  23. Has Soddy-Daisy found a boy (or a girl) who can kick an extra point yet?
  24. Chattanoogan.com article says it is tonight at 6. So there is a 3rd answer for you!
