I think the college coaches are still coming to high schools as well. 14 different schools I saw or spoke with at our games this year, and we are a Class A school. The coaches go to the summer tourneys to see players in quantity. They still want to see the kid play for their schools when they can. As far as travel ball, no question it has taken over...

Volz, Caven would be excellent too. I just don't see any of those guys leaving FCS. Im glad they are at FC coaching my boys... Wrong move Leather- I can't read, and Bartlett has himself a squared off place in Rutherford...

As a former coach at LHS, I feel like the baseball program needs stability. Hiring a local baseball guy like Jody Atwood, Mike Mantooth, etc...would go a long way in getting that program competitive again. Plus you are talking about high-character men who would be good in the classroom and provide the discipline and leadership needed.

Illini, I don't know that Purvis wants the job or not. I was just saying I believe it would be his if he wants it... I could care less who Lebanon gets, but those poor kids deserve some stability. 11th coach in 20 years? What a mess. As far as Greg Shelton, he is a legend. Coach Shelton is a fine coach, but would he really have interest driving to Lebanon? I haven't spoken to him since last Fall

My guess is Purvis gets the job if he wants it. I don't think Caven or Atwood are interested, at least I hope not. Selfishly, I love having them coach my sons at FCS... There will be no shortage of applicants due to the new school and facilities. It will be interesting to see who applies...
