  1. Said a couple of years ago that 2016 could be GHS' best season in last two decades. I feel they are legitimate contenders to get to the semis at least in 5A...Beech has been a power in 5A football, so this will be a huge matchup. Limit the mistakes, and GHS will take this one 42-24.
  2. Said a couple of years ago 2015 and 2016 would be the years Gallatin has waited for. I feel Gallatin wins 5A this year. This game won't be very close IMO. Gallatin 42-20
  3. Friendship Christian looking to add some Freshman games in the Spring. Contact Scott Hunt at shunt9@yahoo.com or 615-604-8406.
  4. Have to believe Green Wave will be the favorite in 9AAA and Class 5A. I thought they would make a run to the semis at least this year, but no go. Should be a return to 12 win season starting next year.
  5. Green Wave are playing, and finished 7-3 like I predicted. Gallatin will run away from Springfield 37-20. I have Gallatin all the way to the semi-finals against Ridgeway, finishing the season at 10-4.
  6. Lots of friends over at SC, but I'll say it: Gallatin is better in my opinion. I say Gallatin wins 34-24, and finishes 7-3.
  7. Lebanon 20 Cookeville 42 Pearl-Cohn 44 Camp 28 HHS 35 Riverdale 24 Gallatin 42 - TC 14 Centennial 30 - MJHS 34 Beech 28 - Siegel 34 DC 21 WCHS 24
  8. Wont be close. Gallatin by 4 TD at least...Even at full health, Gallatin wins by 10
  9. Bucs 42 Panthers 7 Green Wave 20 Commandos 35 Golden Bears 28 Wildcats 21 Bison 35 Blue Devils 14
  10. HHS 35 - Brentwood 20 Independence 31 - Beech 28 Blackman 42 - MJHS 24 Cleveland 27 - W Central 15 Stewart Creek 21 - Gallatin 27 Lebanon 33 Lincoln Co - 21 Greenbrier 27 Portland 28 Antioch 13 - St. Camp 21
  11. I hear there are some injuries/holdouts for Gallatin tonight? If so, my pick goes to Beech 35-20
  12. Going with the Wave here. Still believe they have a great year, setting up great years to come in 2015-2017. Gonna back off my original score, and say 30-28 Gallatin.
  13. HHS 48 LHS 12 Station Camp 20 MJHS 28 BHS 35. GHS 37 PHS 15. WC 14
  14. Week 2 predictions for 9AAA teams... Let's hear em!
  15. This gets lopsided: Green Wave 41 Springfield 13. Gallatin will have an explosive year, losing only to Hendersonville. Too much firepower when healthy. Good luck to many of my former RSMS players at Gallatin and Station Camp.
  16. 2014 predictions for 9-AAA in no order. 1. Hendersonville will be really good. And will probably win another golf title too. 2. Gallatin will be good. People will want coaches fired. 3. Beech will be good. Life after Frank? 4. SC will be good. Another Malone will score touchdowns. No TV though... 5. Portland will be ok, but everybody wants to see them win a few. and Southernfried may be the most sensible poster on CoachT. 6. MJ will be good. Someone will want to blame Coach Perry. 7. WC will be ok. They will be blue and gold. 8. Lebanon will be ok. But they have the sweetest helmets in the district.
  17. The Tennessee Suns (15-16) are looking for summer games. We play our home games at Cumberland University, Wilson Central, and Friendship Christian. Looking for the following dates: Thursday, July 3 Tuesday, July 8 Friday, July 11 Sat. July 12 Contact Scott Hunt at shunt9@yahoo.com

  19. No , It's not a bad place to coach. I might still be coaching there if things had worked out differently. . I have good friends coaching there who I would be honored to coach my own sons. The point of he rankings was to look honestly at the programs overall in relation to each other. That said, 9AAA is one of the best baseball districts from top to bottom. I can speak much on funding, but I know Beech, Portland, SC, WC, LHS, and MJ have the all baseball facilities on campus. I know each has a successful baseball booster club to help. Also, Westmoreland also has a baseball only facility on campus, and White House has one of the best HS facilities in the state. My oldest son played 1 year with Tornados when Stick SHERLIN and I coached the team, and my youngest played one year with John Birdwell. Other than that, I stayed out of it as much as I could. I can't speak for other coaches, but I certainly worked hard to make the program better. We finally got the new lights put in on the HS field, I helped the FB coaches put down the new turf in the SportsCenter, We got new new dugouts and backstop built and upgraded the uniforms. We also held a team GPA of 3.0 or better in 2007, 2008, 2009. I had a great working relationship with the football and basketball staffs. And we managed to win some games. In 2007 we were solid. But we lost to a guy named Sonny Gray 3-2 in the district tourney. Thought that year we might get to Murfreesboro, but it didn't work out.
  20. Those categories are generic to 9AAA as a whole. Not every school will have a problem with each category. As for GHS, there are a few obstacles when you compare to the other 9AAA schools. Example: the Sports Center is very nice, but it's a shared facility. The other programs all have baseball only indoor facilities, which provided unlimited access. The baseball fields are all used only for the HS team. In the case of Hebdersonville, they have first access. Another obstacle was a place for baseball to dress and keep valuables put away. It is very much a task to get players dressed, organized, and to the field even though it is 3.5 miles away. These issues don't exist for the other 9AAA schools. Also, GHS prom every year was held the night before District tourney opener. No one was ever willing to change that, no matter who I asked. Would you want Prom Night the day before a first round football playoff game? Another obstacle is inconsistency on the youth level, except for the American Legion league. Otherwise, there has been too many changes and people pulling in different directions. Finally, GHS is historically not a baseball power. There have been some talented players and a periodically some great teams, but not to the level of the MJ, Beech, HHS programs. Mickey is doing a great job, but to say that coaching baseball there isn't a battle would be false. I'm certain Martin, Armstrong, Joslin, and Colquitt would all agree with that.
  21. Truth, is your response to me or 9-hole bomber? What do you mean by sour grapes? I never said anything about blaming admin.... That may be something you are trying to inject here... Coaching BB is an uphill battle at GHS, ask any coach who has been there. I feel I did a pretty solid job there despite having to get back and forth from the field across town, having one assistant for 3 teams, limited budget compared to the other 9AAA schools, and having to play the opening round of tournament play AFTER Prom night.... We managed to set a school record for wins in 2007, and from 2007-2010 sent 11 players to college scholarships. Mickey faces the same obstacles that I faced, Troy Martin faced, Bill Colquitt faced, and Jerry Joslin faced. I never said GHS couldn't get it done, or anything about the administration. As a matter of fact, Ron Becker is a friend and fellow church member. And I have always had great relationships with the football and basketball staffs. So there's your sour grapes.
