  1. If so, I can see why schools are on him. I have not seen him in football, but he is athletic. He is going to be a D1 for sure. I like the way he carries himself, there is a shortstop look to him.
  2. Vol, you talking about the Warren kid?
  3. Several of the kids coming to GHS were honored as the top players in MS this year. This also could spell big things for GHS basketball... Both programs ready to breakthrough soon!

Will do. It's sort of neat for me being back in this district. Started my coaching career at rival Trousdale County.

Doyle, I havent gotten to know many of the FCS boys yet. There is some real talent there...I just havent been around 8A to know about the other teams yet. It looks like we have some good pitching, and the outfield and SS will be a strength for us. Thats based on what I have seen over the past summer or two.
  6. Coach Probst formerly of Hoover High School fame!!!
  7. Gallatin's current Freshmen and the class coming up from Rucker and Shafer could mean big things for GHS in 2-3 years...could be the team to beat in 5A in 2014 and 2015

Doyle, Im not real sure about 8A. I haven't been able to see anything yet. My boy Davy Cothron usually gives us updates, maybe he can chime in with some reports...

Curious to hear from my friends around District 9AAA... What's the early forecast for each team?
  10. This FCS fan pulling for AHS next year. Would love to see Coach Woodmore get a title... Classy group if folks I met over there after the game. Awfully tough football team as well.
  11. Spartan, why did the Wharton kid leave Knox Webb? Seems like he would have wanted to stay and play for titles...
  12. From what I saw, FCS, Gordonsville, Huntington could each hang with Webb any day if the week. Webb certainly very good as well...
  13. Oldwhiteman, best of luck to your son. I thought AHS played hard, and no doubt they deserved to be in the championship game. From my viewpoint, I saw a lot of hustle and class from both sides. To me, that's worth watching...
  14. Well said. There are plenty of us FCS supporters who are gracious. I'm thankful to watch my son be able to enjoy sports and competition. I'm grateful that both teams played hard and there were no serious injuries. I'm thankful for FCS, as you are your school, and that there are some great men leading these boys on the field. Congrats to AHS on a great season. I was able to see my former player Renard Woodmore after the game and shake his hand. Very proud of the man/coach he has become, and he has the same toughness and character he had as a player. He and AHS will do great things.
  15. I was bitten by the social media bug about 12 years ago. I fell hard, and it even helped cloud my thinking some during my coaching days. I've been in deep, so I can say this with total conviction: Sites like Coach T message board do nothing to help athletics. It tears down teenage kids, and gives us adults a chance to talk smack about games that we have absolutely nothing to do with except paying admission. Fact is, the material on here is sometimes funny and sometimes serious, sometimes accurate and sometimes inaccurate. One thing is certain, it's always useless. I'm one if the junkies who can never get all the time spent on here talking crap about high school sports teams. One question, what does message board do to help a team's chances on the field/court?
  16. GHS should be improved. 7-3/8-2 type season?
  17. Tell him congrats. There is not a better candidate anywhere than Renard...and yes we all have to do the job in front of us, even tackling cheerleaders. Have a safe trip up to Cookeville!
  18. He is number 19, name is Eli. He will be one of the freshmen by the water cooler... Lol.
  19. Sellsman, Please give Renard my best from Coach Hunt. Tell him he is officially "old". He will be coaching against my son who was born his Senior year! Time goes by too fast...
  20. I saw Renard a couple of years ago at the TBCA Clinic. It will be great to see him again. He was our 3b on TCHS' first ever district/region championship baseball teams. He also played FB/DE for back to back State Football champs... If he coaches as hard as he played, he is indeed one of the best. I'm pulling for FCS, but I will be the first to shake Renard's hand either way!
  21. Renard played baseball for me at Trousdale from 1997-1999. No doubt he is doing a fine job at Adamsville. My son plays for FCS, and I will want him to meet Renard. He is a great young man and was one of the hardest working kids I coached. Pretty darn good player too!
  22. CJ, congrats on your son being one of the top players in Tennessee. Sounds like one heck of a kid and player. As a father, I would be thrilled for my son to hear from the schools you listed. However, your beef with MTSU is way off base. There could be any number of resons you havent heard from MTSU. Maybe they feel they dont have a real chance at signing your kid - Maybe they dont feel your son is what they need/want - Maybe they know how you feel about them and decided to look elsewhere - could be any of these reasons. I can promise you this - no one works harder or is more qualified than the guys at MTSU. And I can promise you that your son will be just fine without MTSU, and MTSU will be just fine without your son.
  23. I believe Redsman called the Green Wave upset...
  24. A lot of good folks over in Watertown. Two of my oldest friends work at WHS - Jeff Luttrell and Rusty Harrod. Can't imagine having a better administrator than Jeff...had a darn good pizza over at Nona Lisa too! Good luck rest of the year.
