  1. I would have to disagree with you, MooseGK, and agree with dback33. She seems to know a good deal about soccer, boys or girls, and information on teams other than her own. Back to the original discussion of the best all around players Middle TN....
  2. Disagreeing, I think the ref was ‘in the wrong’. Let’s see if I can clarify… I came to the game to watch a high school soccer match; I was not there to watch either team in particular. Does that make sense? I do think that the ref was in the wrong for a large portion of what is being discussed. I can understand what you are saying in that though there were ... interesting calls made by the ref, Fairview's emotions lost the game for them. HOWEVER, I still believe that, no matter what the situation, a referee should never show aggression towards players on the field. The center ref must have complete control over the game at all times. This is also why you have two linesmen, and, in this case, a fourth official. If the center ref had been severely bothered by Fairview’s comments, he should have stopped the game, talked to both coaches, telling Fairview’s coach in particular to watch his mouth and to quiet his team. It is never acceptable to be aggressive towards players, especially in the game you are officiating. I'm not saying it was okay for Fairview to say the things they did and display their emotions in the mannerism shown, but the referee shouldn’t have responded with the comments that he made. In my mind, both the center ref and the players are responsible for their unruly display Saturday night. side note, after talking with the linesmen and fourth official and having each of them say they thought things went too far and that the center lost control of the match, why do you think they didn't try to interfere and calm the players, coaches, and center before things got out of hand? I am seriously wondering as I have yet to come up with an answer and I'd be interested to hear what you come up with.
  3. I'm glad you are so confident in your team, but the arrogance of your posts have started to annoy some
  4. yes, I have been posting, yes, I was at the game. no, I am not from fairview, nor do I have any ties to fairview. and yes, I have seen CSAS play before... ok, all of that was so you now know a bit about me. I have not been posting "exactly what happened" because it would have been pointless. I’ve expressed my opinions, but both dback33 and playoff4, whom I’ve gathered are from Fairview, have explained what they saw at the game. So have mtnman and sportdude, I don’t think either are from Fairview (correct me if I’m wrong). Sitting in the stands, I heard the same comments concerning the game, teams, and yes, officials, from parents and fans of both teams. the perspective was not entirely different. Maybe after the state tournament you’ll get your wish and hear more from CSAS…
  5. Ignoring the fact the fact that i played soccer for many years, and speaking strictly as a referee, if someone came at me, insulting me and the way i called the game, i would walk off. but at the same time, the things that we (people in the stands) and we (people on sidelines) heard the ref say to fairview players, coach, and spectators, were unreal. if the center had not said some of the things he did, it would have been much easier for him to just walk of the field afterwards. (just so you know, I have been in a situation so very similar... granted this game had more weighing on it... but still.... and it is easy enough for anyone with a decent hold on their emotions to walk away and then release frustrations after the fact)
  6. will someone please do me the favor of posting the final score and a bit about the game after it is over. I really wish I could watch this one, but it didn't work out for my team. thanks
  7. don't you just love listening to parents
  8. i agree. while i don't always agree with their defensive style of play, heck, it's ticks me off when i play against them, they play a 10 man defense and leave a single, quick, stricker to handle the rest after they score. their field also bothers me as to how short it is, but at least it is kept up
  9. I think turbo has the right idea... no, i'm just joking... let your teams performance on the field speak for itself. A truely good team needs not to talk on paper to back up their game on the field...
  10. rumor has it, their keeper is only a freshman.. any truth to it? Anyone know?
  11. importkid1886, you just invited people to bash on your team
  12. i've heard numberous people say that they were sorry CCS was out, but let me assure you, as a mere spectator not tied to any team in particular, CA will still give you the same run for your money that CCS would have. best of luck to all teams who've made it this far...
  13. i agree on a number of levels while i have yet to hear see any csas posts, fairview is taking the loss well with true leadership stepping up and apologizing. secondly, i was equally appalled by the center referee's attidude towareds the game, the players from either team, and soccer in general. i am a ref, granted not a tssaa, but i am positive that you cannot be carded for dribbling too much. the officiating was very one sided, althought i'll agree, fairview seemed to lose the game for themselves. i can only hope to see fairview control their temper and come back strong next year. best of luck CA
  14. no disrespect intended, but i do not see CSAS going very far. Many people have expressed sorrow because they will not play ccs in the state tourny, but do not be quick to underestimate CA. it's difficult to win after they score one while i am by no means a CA fan, good luck in state CA...
  15. wow. i really don't think it matters
  16. is DB Daniel Boone HS or Dobyns-Bennett ?
  17. i take it both teams played a physical game? can anyone give me more details on the game? sorry to say i missed it...
  18. how do you figure who plays at home
  19. i must say i disagree. page may be playing in a/aa which, agreed, isn't always as skilled as AAA, thats why its in a seperate division. my point of argue would be that page didnt come from a weak district, at least, not in A/AA. page, columbia academy, and fairview are all well rounded, strong teams coming from the same district. maybe it doesnt compare to what the district may have in AAA, but again, thats why they are seperated... although, on the note of your rankings, they seem fairly accurate... just thought id throw my two cents in
  20. from what i can tell, ca has a good team. their strickers are quick and good at crashing the goal. cant say much about the defense. if u play them at home, watch out for their fans. they have a pregame ritual of being annoying. just don't let the fans get in ur head and keep the ball close of offense, u should be fine.
  21. please excuse my ignorance for a moment, but im new to all this & theres something that i just dont get how many teams advance from each region
  22. how often does soccerinfo.com change the rankings?
  23. no predictions, no thoughts imparticular, but i do have questions. what happens if your two picks (CA and Fairview) both win? do they have to play each other? haven't they already played each other?
