  1. if what you say is correct I agree. BUT no matter what a HIGH SCHOOL PLAYER should not voice his opinion to an umpire. To much TV. WHAT do you think
  2. If what you say is true. I agree. But under any occurrence a player should not voice his opinion to an umpire. do you agree?
  3. Not to say this guy was right. Most likely from all the responses he was wrong. BUT from an umpire's stand point this game is hard. sometimes you have a pitcher who has thrown 8 balls up, down ,way out and bounced a few. then he paints the corner on the 9th pitch, if you miss this call your a homer. when people say bad things about umpires look at the game thats in front of you. sometimes pitchers that are around the plate get more calls. those who are not don't. batters on deck should be paying attention to the pitcher and the play because they are in fair play. what ever this is high school not the MLB. if you want the border line call earn the border line call.
  4. maybe your reading to much into this, If the player had to be told. i find it hard to believe it was that bad. regardless of what just happened HS players should NOT EVER question a umpire, that is the coaches job. Live and learn.
  5. MILAN JACKSON SOUTH SIDE RIPLEY Any of these teams, depends on who gets hot.
  6. Hey BigBadBlue, Please remove that size 12 foot that you put in your pie hole. Before you tell someone to buy a rule book Please get a clue. I will try to explain this like your a 3rd grader. Very old rule 3 years ago "when the ball enters the infield from the outfield a defensive player can begin to block the bag." Last year,"when the ball enters the dirt area around the base or plate" Approx 5 feet from the base, you can block the bag. This year MUST BE IN POSSESSION OF THE BASEBALL BEFORE YOU CAN BLOCK ANY BAG. I'm sorry if you don't agree with this rule. but if you have a problem with it you should call Gene and BOB at TSSAA they only spent 1 hour on the subject at the State meeting and at camp in Knoxville. As for a rule book after 20 years as a High School and Collage Baseball Umpire I have many. If you would like I could send you one. Think about it. What is the penalty if a defensive players obstructs the runner from reaching the base while he does not have the ball. maybe your rule book doesn't need to be so dusty put to use.
  7. Sorry guys, Under the new rule NO defensive player may block any bag(including the catcher) unless he is in possession of the baseball. Not about to get it, Not almost in the glove. MUST have possession. Until he has possession by rule the line and the bag or plate belongs to the runner. As far as sliding in h/s no rule says you have to slide. But if you do it must be legal.
  8. Bolton, JCM, South Side, North Side, USJ, Brighton, Crockett Co., Mc Nairy, Bolivar, Huntingdon, Harding Academy, Dyer County Covington, Wayne Co. Henry Co. And a few others.
  9. Memphis did a great job last year. Auto zone Park, UofM,CBHS,CBU,USA Stadium,Briarcrest some of the best fields in Tennessee. Beale Street and Downtown really rolled out the red carpet. What's your opinion?
  10. Problem is you can pick up anyone you want. But can they afford to go to USJ. There are a lot of great athletes USJ can never get because they can't afford it. Jackson better hope USJ doesn't decide to go DivII. If that happens a lot of schools can kiss their best athletes good-bye, becouse they will be on scholarship at USJ.

    JARRET JONES

GREAT SPEED, fair arm, Needs some work at the plate to reach the next level. He has good coaches and some pro team should take a chance on him. 2nd base would be a good fit for him. I hear he has had some scouts looking.
