Heritage has a lot of people comming back that played a lot of varisty this year. Same for Alcoa. I would look for Maryville, WB and Heritage playing for the 3 seed behind Farragut and South Doyle. My two cents, I have children inthe Maryville school system and want each team to win except when they play Maryville.Blount County period has produced many top athelthes in all sports, to many to name. housing prices are sky high insde the city. It's cheeper to find a house in west Knoxville and go to Farragut, even with the over crowding. School sprit is great. Pull for your team. In softball and baseball everybody plays together anyway on some of the best travel teams in the South. Just remember one thing "winners keep score"

Well in game one at 4:00 you have William Blount vs Maryville. Wojo on the mound for WB and Parker on the mound for Maryville. Both have signed, Wojo with Walters state and Parker with LMU. WB has won both times this year by a total of 2 runs. Maryville won this elimination game lst year. Both teams looked down yesterday after loses to SD and Farragut. They willnot be today. Farragut looked beatable on Sat. After the five hole hitter they drop off some to a good line up. William Blount was flat from what I've herd. I like Maryville over Oakridge, King and Gaylor can go 7. Berrong has had 2 days rest and could get in 5 to 7 innings. I like WB over Alcoa. Blount is been good all year. The finals is a toss up WB has beat Maryville 4 times. If you do not count the game with the suspended players the run totals are WB 15 MHS 11. Pretty close. One factor is MHS is playing better defense with King at ss and Berrong at 2nd and Henegar in the outfield. But it boils down to WB has more quality players than Maryville.

Even with all of the issues with the Maryville team they still have a shot to do well in the dist. tournment. I do not however see them getting very far in the region. They have to play a near perfect game to win one. No one really to blame so you could blame everybody. Lots of tallent on the team, but not producing and coach is very loyal to those, however could have shaken up the line up a little bit. Coaching is hard. I pulling for them. In my opinion all the teams in the area have stepped it up and Maryville is about the same. Good luck to them.

Maryville will hav eto do what WB was unable to do on Saturday. Jump on them first and quick. I think Maryville is pitching Bott. He has had a sore back but threw 2 scorless innings againest Science Hill on Sat in OakRidge. Farragut is strong accross the board, not just pitching. They lost to central cabrrus 13-0 in three innings. It was 8-0 when Hickman was lifited. Central is the best team I've seen. They had a perfet game going when Coach pulled them off the field in the third. As for the elimination they were beat 4-1 or 5-1 cannot remember. I do know Maryville had one hit. Hope they can regroup this week.

I do not have an axe to grind. I also do not have any children at Maryville High School. I graduated from Maryville a long time ago. I think you have a great team that plays hard. All envolved should be proud of where the program has come from in the past few years. There are loads of talent there now and in the pipe line. Only naive if you take the facts at what they are. Sarah Fekete was a work horse for the 2002 team at the State tournment. With a sore arm she battled in the championship game while a fresh division 1 caliber pitcher was not used.

Gibbs has a great team. There catcher has a great arm. All the girls going up to the plate were there to hit, and did. Maryville tries to produce all there runs in the top of the order and pray somthing good happens in the middle and end. If I were betting. I would take Gibbs this Friday and give 3 runs.

I thought players played and coaches coach and manage ie. they don't have choice in the matter. I pulling for them however I hope it does not come back to hurt them. There playing around 12 games in the next 10 days or somthing and that leaves no time to practice things that you work on in the pre season.

TSSAA rules say that the first day games could be played is March 15th. Why is Maryville a week behind every other team in the state? With a good group comming back and going to the spring fling two years running. Why would there coaching staff take the week off as reported in the local paper.
