  1. November is still a ways away and the team to beat will be the one with more than 5 good runners. Injuries have a way of happening at the most inopportune time and you need reserves to step in that can put up good times to stay on top. Over the last two years Bartlett should have won in '02 and been top 5 in '03 but due to some injuries and no depth they didn't. No sour grapes here because stuff happens. Who has the depth to overcome injuries and still put a team on the course that can all run, all 7, in the low 16's?
  2. CherokeeCheif is right, now is just a crapshoot. I don't know of any coaches who are settleing for less than first place right now. Once the season progresses and runners start dropping then some teams might have to back off their goals. But everyone has a perfect record so far so continue to work hard and we will just have to wait and see.
  3. So there are other sports being played in middle school besides basketball?? Here in Memphis we only have cheerleading and basketball for our middle school kids to participate in through their school. Plus with the latest round of budget shortfalls our coaches might loose their stipend. Isn't life grand.
  4. I am not familiar with that name. What type of times has she been running? Rita Jorgenson at White Station in Memphis is going to be the one to beat out of west TN AAA.
  5. Opinions are like a**holes we all have them and some stink. You cannot put anything on the early races since you don't know the training plans of the runners. Williamson beat Herringshaw only twice last CC season, the first race and then the important one at the end of the season. There are impressive times out there and we will have to see who is healthy come May. Some of the best runners didn't make it to state last year due to tough sectionials and they could have been in the top 5. Don't hold your breath or puff out your chest on your picks. Let them all line up in late May and then we will see who the best is on that day.
  6. Don't count your chickens before they hatch. Melrose will be a force like they were last year even with the missing athletes. If you don't prepare like they are at full strength then they will smoke you and make you wish you could melt into the track.
