I think that's a major area of concern right now is whether or not they can be physical enough. I know some of the guys like McKinney and Pinson have put on some needed weight but it has to work over into explosive power or it's almost for naught.
Yes, McKinney has been moved to T and Denney to Guard. Ponder is playing some TE along with Tongate, C. Hackett, Webb. Webb, I have heard, has looked very good on D so far this spring. Reminding some people of a young Morgan Hix.
You should also look for Pinson to step up on the O-line and for Denney to make a move to D-tackle. No doubt about it, losing Bush will hurt. Very gifted player with lots of experience. Other kids will have to step their games up. Nixon has suffered a knee injury as well. Haven't heard to what extent at this point. . . Shafer will be playing Will and FB this year. He was DE/LB last year as well and TE, #44. Gibbs has been playing NG/M and center, #50.
They scrimmage them on the 15th this spring. They scrimmage them again in the summer but I'm not sure what that date is. I know it's on their summer schedule.
Sounds about right. All scrimmages are on the road. Also, they are going to Cookeville for the jamboree and will be playing them. I think they will be doing a JV and a varsity game like they did against Station Camp last year.
From watching SC I have seen positives and negatives with the no huddling stuff. It can get a little hairy with personnell groupings and then getting into the formation and getting the motion. The WRs have to get to a place to see the signals, not to mention having to report back inside the numbers before every play. They then have to try and get their proper alignment for the play. The QB has to be patient enough to let them get set. Then, if there is motion before the play you have to allow time for that to happen as well. There's really not much room for mistakes in hesitation with a play call or substitutions. On the other hand, you can catch the defense in some very vulnerable and compromising situations.
Absolutely. And I'm sure both teams are chomping at the bits right now for it to get here. I'm sure Cheatam County was quite upset to have that streak snapped. It was disappointing for us to lose in the second round on our home field as well.
The spread, of the right kind-schematically to suit a team's personnell, can be very effective in high school. You don't necessarily have to have a great QB or WRs even. If teams' defenses don't get lined up right and don't make the right adjustments to various formations and motions it can be like taking candy from a baby.
