  1. I'm not sure about ECS, but i think JPII might be favored next year in DII AA. Go Knights!
  2. yes if pope john gets named john paul the great i think they r changin the name of our school to John Paul The Great...
  3. Mike Isaacson at JP2. Transfered from Gallatin, so had to sit out last year. BIG Boy! big bAT.

    D2 Baseball

Someone posted they were picked pre season number 1, and Father Ryan was 3.
  5. Whoa! I just asked for others input on who they think are the strong teams. And certainly location is vital in pitching, as Mr. Maddox has proven for all to see. (of course, he does hit 85...) I was not discounting other teams, I was asking "who" are the strong teams. My point was that I'm not sure JP2 has enough fast bats that can stay back against power and a hook. Pretty fundamental... it's the downfall of 95% of high school kids... I don't think any baseball fan would argue the point. Can 78 and excellent location be effective? Certainly. But gas and a hook can make a good hitting HS team look silly. Regarding Golden, he's not in the top 5 bats at JP2. He bats in the 2 hole due to his speed, but it's for OB%, not average or power. But he's can fly in center. By the way, I never even mentioned him in my post. Anyway, sorry to raise your blood pressure, HS baseball is NOT worth a stroke! Anyway, any other D2 teams to fear?
  6. Watched JP2 beat White House 8-4 Friday night. White House ended up beating Gallatin to win Wilson County Tournament. JP2 lost the next two, but that was partially because one of their studs, SS Mike Isaacson, collided with second basemen in Lebanon game and was ejected for 2 games. Question... Who are supposed to be the strongest teams this year in Div 2? Who has the srongest pitchers in Div 2, because if they can't bring 85 with a good hook, it will be hard to stop JP2 offense. Their only weakness may be pitching depth come tornament time. I guess the MBA game will be a good measurement April 4th. Anyway, thanks for any information you can provide.
  7. I'm not sure he's the best in the state, but Golden Tate from Pope John Paul II is pretty good. Golden had about 700 yrds. recieving and about 900 yrds. rushing as a soph. last year. With those he had over 20 touchdowns and five or six interceptions last year. He runs a legit 4.5 40 but his quickness is much better than that speed. Totaled up he has almost 40 touchdowns tallied in his career at Pope, which is more than any other soph. in the midstate and im pretty sure in the state also. By the end of this year no team would kick the ball to him after his returns were so amazing in the first few games. He was also a division II Mr. Football nominee as a sophomore. Look for Golden to make the papers in the next few years
  8. What do you mean what happend to MBA? JPII has beaten them both games by double digits. The question is, what happend to JPII in that game. I'm not sure how JPII earns no respect, losing close games to FRHS and BGA in all four games. Games that JPII could have pulled off. I am just praying we get another shot at FRHS after the last game. I think Heim can attest to me saying the last time Pope and Ryan played a few of the key calls late in the game went to Ryan when they probobly should not have.
  9. Who cares about the small division team?...really
  10. Okay, you could maybe make the argument that you play teams out of your region...you know, good ones. NOO YOU DONT! JPII is the only strong team on their entire schedule. JPII spanked FCHS 33-7, and completely shut down their quaterback Lee Sweeney. Remember that JPII is only in its second year of varsity play. BB will murder them! BBHS-49 FCHS-14

    Webb At JP2

Because throwing into the flat takes some skill and is a hard pass to make...a pass which Dol can't make.
  12. Pope 57

    Webb At JP2

Let him try to throw it a long way...should be very easy for Golden or our other corner to pick off. lol
  13. Pope 57

    Webb At JP2

Well wouldn't that mean he doesn't have a great arm. It does take precision + strength.
  14. Pope 57

    Webb At JP2

Yea, I saw that on film. Webb's QB had 2 passes that would have been touchdowns, would they have been even decent passes were the reciever could get a hand on it.

    Webb At JP2

That would be Golden Tate and Mike Issacson. Mike doesn't even play offense anymore...just middle linebacker. Mike hasn't played in the past few games but he'll be ready on friday to knock Ryan Walker out and bring him back down to earth. And yes, Golden should terrorize the Webb defense when he has the ball in his hands just like he did last game.
  16. Their QB doesn't scramble to run, against JP2, he scrambled AT LEAST 8 seconds until he found a receiver 55+ yards down the field, who he hit in stride while running to his left! I projected after JP2 game, they were MUCH better than people thought and had paly off potential, the folks in Williamson County laughed... Their tackles on the O line are both RC or close in size, and they get clean shots at D-line when QB cuts back. Finally, if that QB isn't as fast as Jamison, he's every bit as quick and shifty... Wait and see it up close. All that said, it would be a monumental upset for Ravenwood to beat Gallatin... Like a Cardinals beating Philly/New England in the NFL. But seeing both, it won't be a walk over unless that QB chokes for Ravenwood!!!!
  17. Golden Tate from Pope John Paul II, anyone who has seen him play will agree with me. He takes over the game and makes big plays every game. Last week he had 16 carries for 200 yards and 3 catches for 75 yards and three touchdowns. He also has over 20 tds on the season.
  18. Pope 57

    Webb At JP2

He was, but he has been held out the past two weeks so he would be healthy and 100% for this game. Also, is #51 out or is he playing?
  19. Pope 57

    Webb At JP2

I'm just wondering why this week and not the previous.
  20. Pope 57

    Webb At JP2

He's been out since the 3rd quarter of the Webb game, but he'll be back this week. He is a pretty solid and will get his his yards week in and week out. He's just so quick to the hole.
  21. What did he do againt Catholic? He shouldn't have too big a head...he only got about 4 yards a carry against Pope, not even 100 yards
  22. Pope 57

    Webb At JP2

You know what he CAN or WILL do? He has not done it this whole season, but you think he will do it this game...why is that?
  23. Ravenwood has a huge line and a QB as fast as jamison but with a much more accurate arm. They will pass on Gallatin... their weakness seems to be they don't have a great RB, but if the QB has a good game, gallatin will have all they can handle! thumb The game of the week???
  24. PJP2 beats 5a Glencliff 42 - 40... Glencliff beat Hunters lane at 7 -1 and Beech as well, both 5a. Catholic and Webb have both played JP2, and we look forward to another challenge in the playoffs against both these playoff teams. Be fair in your analysis!
  25. Actually, they dont lose the #1 spot in the division...it goes to the overall record and that gives Catholic (9-0) the advantage over JPII (6-3). They will keep the #1 spot no matter what happends.
