  2. Without Shelbyville Woosley is working at a convinent store somewhere selling gas and potato chips. The bottom line is she has never let go of her playing carrer and makes money off of it to this day. The playing carrer started in Shelbyville and you need to remember that before bad-mouthing the program. As my grandmother used to say: "Don't outgrow your raisin'!"
  3. From reading the posts on this board, I would think it would be CPG. Whoever is in charge over there needs to take serious control of their tongues and for that matter their over-anxious typing fingers that seem to jump at every opportunity to bad mouth and put down anything and anyone from Shelbyville. The funny thing is that their beloved leader wouldn't even be known without the Shelbyville name: Define Irony hugh
  4. Holly Rogers, Megan Lyons, and the Burtnett girl from Cleveland were all out for the 16u championship game.
  5. That is good to hear! While it is fun to go back and forth about the various issues in TN AAU girl's basketball, health and well being should always be looked at through un-biased glasses. Glad to know this fine young athlete is doing well.
  6. Just a few observations: 1) Cait MacMahon IS THE BEST PLAYER IN THE STATE. Need proof for you pudding: who is recruiting her??? Tennessee, UCONN, Florida, and every other top 10 program in the entire country. 2) Mooney is a VERY TALENTED player - top 10 in the state easily. I was very impressed with the weekend that she had - she proved to me that she can play on the elite level. The thing you have to look at is who is recruiting her? I don't think Pat Summitt has ever been to watch her play or Coach Auriema. This is not to say she isn't a great player, but Cait is on another level. 3) It was obvious that TN Team Pride has played and practiced more than any other AAU team I have seen this year. They have great team chemistry and that is one of their biggest strengths. The coaches should be praised for bringing this team together. The Stars don't have the luxury of practicing as often as TTP and that is a weakness they will have to shore up before the nationals. 4) Not to say the Stars would have done any better with them, but to have 3 players out with two of those being starters hurt them. 5) After watching the 15u state in Cookeville last weekend and the 16u state in Lebanon this weekend, there is no doubt in my mind that the best two teams in the state are 15u teams: Shelbyville Sport Shop and TN Tigers Select. TN Team Pride 15u squad finished 3rd in their state tournament and BEAT TTP 16u's. This is going to be a GREAT summer for TN Girls basketball on the national level, I really do believe that. It is easy to sit in the stands and critique, but I am glad that girl's basketball fans in TN have the luxury of watching some of the best in the country in our own backyard!
  7. No the Showboats have not broken up. They had some minor problems with paper work but have all ready qualified for the nationls by finishing 2nd at the Super Regional in Murfreesboro. The post Jimbo44 started should have been titled 15U National Qualifiers. The 16U state isn't until this weekend in Lebanon.
  8. Yes, the TN Tigers Select are the old Memphis Blackhawks/Elite. They added a couple of players this year - one from Mt. Juliet, one from Chattagnooga, and another big girl (#31 - not sure where she is from). The two that played with Shelbyville last year are the kid from MJ and big kid they picked up for the nationals from Chattanooga. They are coached by Ross Jordan who has previously coached with Cleave Harris and Chip Fredrickson on the Tigers of old. Shelbyville Sport Shop picked up several new players this year, two of which played for the Tigers last year - post from Oak Ridge and guard from Kentucky. They are coached by Matt Insell and Tom Hodges, who have coached them every year they have had a team, 3 I think. Hope that clears it up.
  9. Well, I don't think anyone has ever accused Ross Jordan of being a great coach, but he does have a great team. I too wondered the same things you did: Why were he and his assistant wearing passes and why would he not move his game with Shelbyville up on Sat. night. The Tigers Select are a talented team made of some of the best athletes from around the state. Shelbyville on the other had has the best BALL PLAYERS in the state and looked to have a decided advantage in coaching. Looked to me like the Sunday game was an indication of how deep Sport Shop is and how talented they really are winning a state championship going away by 20 points. With that being said, I imagine the three teams going to the Nationals with seeds (Shelbyville 7th, Tigers 8th, and Team Pride 9th) are going to do very well. Best of luck to all players and coaches and bring a championship back to Tennessee!
  10. Just wondering if any of the, what I consider to be great jobs, been filled yet? Cumberland Co. William Blount Moore Co. Lawrence Co. Any others that I am missing? Please post if you have any info. Thanks
  11. Congrats to all of these fine young ladies. What a steal for Roane State and Swanee! To get three players with 3 state championships and great coaching is flat out highway robbery! They will certainly make these programs better and bring a winning mentality.
  12. Congrats to Paige Smith. If she is half as good a coach as she is a person, point gaurd, and shooter then Clay Co. will continue to be a dominant force in Single A!
