  1. All I know is that this isn't 2004. This ain't the 2004 WHHS team, and this isn't the 2004 Firebird team. PC is playing some inspired football after the tragedy that rocked their team earlier this year. We have got to get more of a balanced attack to stop these guys. They are so much better than they were last year. BDP can do some prettty miraculous things though, and we have shown that in the last 3 games....GO BIG BLUE!!!
  2. Congrats to the Blue Devils... However, I want to state my opinion....I can't believe that the coaches are in week 6 and have yet to getting even a TRACE of a passing game going..... People can say what they want to say, but I have NEVER seen such an anemic passing game from a White House team. Pearl-Cohn is gonna be extra tough. They have tremendous athletes...and...I hope I'm wrong, but I don't see us being able to beat PC without at least a DECENT passing game to resort to in case they were to shut down our running game. However...I wanna give kudos to the most improved area of the Blue Devils team...The "O" line...You guys have really stepped it up...Keep it up. And where are the Sycamore trash talkers? One dude said it will be good to see Ricky in the dirt all night. 18 Carries 199 yards rushing. Try that on for size. Also that same dude promised that Sycamore would run the score up into the 30's. Well...what was the score? My apologies to the Sycamore fans that weren't on here talking trash. You have a great team, and great football community. This has become a great rivalry. Good luck to you.
  3. According to TSSAA website: White House 31 Beech 28 According to 104.5 The Zone: White House 35 Beech 28 Can anyone confirm the right score? I wasn't able to go tonight, and if this is true, that White House won,I will now proceed to bang my head on the desk. I can't believe I missed our first ever victory over Beech, if this is indeed true.....
  4. Everyone gets in their car right after the games in Middle Tennesse, and most of them tune into 104.5 The Zone to hear all the scores. The only bad thing, THEY RARELY READ THE SCORES. I have been listening for over 20 minutes and have yet to hear a single scoreboard rundown. It seems like over the two-hour show, the full score rundown is only given four or five times at best. I thought they were bad last year, but this year seems worse. I remember when the show was on 99.7 a couple years back, it was 75% scores..... To much blah blah blahing, too few scores. Anyone agree?
  5. Wow...sounds like this one would have been a fun one to watch! Congrats to our fellow Sumner County team......!
  6. Congrats to the Blue Devils...this was what BDP is all about!!!!! We trailed most of the game, but in the end we found the heart and willpower to pull out the victory. Congrats to a VERY tough Macon County team...you gave the Devils all we could handle tonight, and I was very impressed with the way that your community filled your stands and sidelines, and cheered loudly for your team the whole time. I was also impressed to once again see the stands full on WH's side, cheering on the Blue Devils...... Now...back to the practice field for next week's game......
  7. The top teams of week one have to be: 1. New England- I know the AFC is stacked, but these guys are still the team to beat. They just know how to win, and they make it look so easy. 2. Kansas City- Much improved defense really put the pressure on Chad Pennington, and we already knew that they know how to score. 3. Miami- The Nick Saban era starts off with a bang, and the Miami "D" is still there. The fans were eating it up. 4. Indianapolis- I know it's only week one, but their defense looks much improved, and we all know how good the offense is. They wore down the much celebrated Baltimore "D" 5. Jacksonville- Keep playing like this, and Jaguars Stadium will be selling out seats again.... 6. New Orleans-The feel-good win of the day. Very classy of the Carolina fans giving them the ovation. Kudos also to Detroit, San Fran, and Buffalo...all three made nice showings...and good to see the Drew Bledsoe era starting off right in Big D. The Chargers are a good team, and should be in the playoffs again. As far as dissappointments...hey I know it's only week 1, but just for the sake of conversation... 1. Denver- looked horrible 2. NY Jets- ditto 3. Tennessee- Offense was OK, defense stunk..... 4. Arizona- Much work left to be done, for the team many have picked to be the biggest turnaround.
  8. I thought the offense looked good early on, until a few mistakes turned that around. They were moving the ball pretty well, the missed FG and Drew's dropped pass changed the momentum. Special teams looked much improved on returns, glad to see that. As far a defense, what defense? Their performance was flat out embarrassing. The amount of missed tackles is inexcusable. Period. Tank, Sirmon, Thompson, even Bullock were arm tackling, or just trying to knock people down with shoulder blocks. Inexcusable. The real test will be next week, if our defense makes Baltimore's toilet-worthy offense look good, then you know we are in trouble on that side of the ball. Man Baltimore's offense reaks......
  9. Coach Mash....thank you for summing it all up. In fact, your post pretty much should be the end-all of this entire thread. I am guilty of being an armchair QB myself, whether it be for my beloved White House Blue Devils, my Vols, or my Titans.....I get frustrated like anyone else, and like JOhn Dwyer once told Coach Fisher on the Jeff Fisher show, when the Titans were in a slump, "Even though everyone is being so passionate in their criticism, it shows that they care." If no one was on here posting outta frustration, if no one was even talking over the water cooler, then there would be cause for concern. But they are!!! We are whining and complaining, we are being critical, but if someone outside the BDP circle were to criticise our WH coaches, we'd let them have it. We whine because we CARE! And watching the crowd the other night, I saw the stands full of BDP!!!!! The crowd was on! And in this time in which the politics of the Sumner County Board of Education, and the Robertson County Board of Education, didn't give a rat's hind-end that they were possibly destroying a unified, tight-nit community when they split us down 31-W, I saw the stands of Dewey Whitson Stadium PACKED!!!! This town loves our Blue Devils, and yes, when we are in a slump we offer our opinion, but it doesn't mean we don't love our team.... Now back to BDP...GO BIG BLUE!!!!!!
  10. This is the make or break game for the entire season for the Devils......Win and you may be in...., lose...., and well....that's pretty much gonna be it as far as the playoffs go. I did see a rise in emotion this past week against P-town, which was good to see, but in the end, we didn't make the plays on defense, and we didn't execute once again, on offense..... But I'm still in it for the long haul.........GO BIG BLUE!!!!!!!
  11. If we don't get this passing game corrected, and continue to do absolutely no blocking for our TB, then this season could very well become the first losing season for White House in a couple decades. Portland didn't do anything fancy, in fact, they seem to have only run about 3 or 4 different plays over and over, but they totally kicked our rear end with basic football. Congrats Portland.....you were the better team tonight. White House offense?.....I'm speechless. Looking at our schedule, even going 5-5 may be outta the question. Next week against Macon County may be the only chance to salvage this season. I know we lost 17 starters. Well...Portland lost a lot as well...Greenbrier lost something like 23, but they are both playing solid, consistent football. Tonight , the heart was a little more there, but our offense is lacking.....something awful. So much I could say, but oh well...I'll take the PC route and stop there....
  12. In 2000, we started the season off 0-3, before winning 7 in a row.
  13. The officiating was questionable in places, especially, the running into the punter call...what a JOKE! The guy didn't get touched! They also weren't calling holding on FS... BUT...Who cares? FS made TONS of mistakes, we had every opportunity to capitalize on good field position, turnovers, you name it, but we didn't. I have been going to WH games literally since the early 80's, and I don't like what I saw tonight on the field. Lack of focus, lack of execution, lack of heart, lack of fire...there is so much that needs to be corrected. Like Dandy said, I saw such a LACK OF FIRE on the sidelines. Several players were talking and cutting up with each other on the sidelines, seemingly oblivious to what was transpiring on the field. NO ONE on the sidelines was showing excitement or passion when we made a good play or hit. They just stood there looking like their minds were elsewhere. In years past, the freshman are running up and down the sidelines, trying to urge the crowd to get loud, etc. But tonight, they just stood there. I am honestly dissappointed in tonight's play. Missed tackles. Penalties. A horrendous passing game. This year could get ugly if the Blue Devils don't dig deep fast. It looked like Coach Porter was going to blow a gasket at times. One more thing....the passing game...whew...never mind.
  14. Not a good sign of what this year has to come, early on....I know we have injuries, but our preseason scrimmages usually act as a good barometer of what is to come. Last year, we dominated all our scrimmages. We all know that that season went on to become one of the best of all-time for White House. This year, we seemed to struggle with David Lipscomb, Smith County and Hendersonville in the pre-season....I know that our young freshman team is showing a lot of promise...should we, if we aren't already, look at possibly starting more young players? Dig deep Blue Devils.....BDP
  15. Man....I was so impressed with our young receivers tonight. They seem to have caught everything! Also what about Chris Brown? Was dude on fire or what? I know this is preseason, but I saw a lot to build on tonight. I think the Titans will surprise some people this year, but will most definitely be a team to be reckoned with in a season or two.... The only thing I have to say is that I hope Pacman is worth the wait, because, we obviously need his help in the secondary.....Secondary got burned quite a bit tonight, but to be fair, they also made several big plays as well...overall verdict on the secondary?...wait and see.
  16. Man, the people that made the decision to move it to tonight are boneheads because I bought my tickets early and had every intention of attending Thursday night. Tonight, I had to watch TN play Atl...yeah, I know, I know, it's preseason, but I had planned on the jamboree for my Thursday night, then Titans on Friday. While I was at home, I struggled for hours to find the jamboree on crappy AM Radio, but I couldn't find it anywhere with a signal worth a crap..... Somebody get home and fill me in on the details...especially for my White House Blue Devils...how did they do?
  17. Then again, Nick Saban has expressed his confidence in him for some reason that maybe the rest of us haven't seen. Those 8 carries in a meaningless preseason game don't really matter.....what matters is his performance and commitment leading into the real season and the next season.....
  18. To be fair, we all know there is a big difference between public and private schools...scrimmaging a team like David Lipscomb should be good for anybody. The Blue Devils will rebound after their poor showing...... By the way, Smith Co. will kick butt in 2A...
  19. Great post. I am with you. The selfish part of me wants to see Mark race another year. He is a class-act, and a true representative of good sportsmanship.....
  20. Regardless of everyone's personal opinions about Ricky, we all saw last year just how much he meant to the Miami Dolphins organization. Their entire offense was obviously drawn up around him, because once he was gone, they stunk, and stunk bad....Ricky will have a great year. One of the best RB's in the league regardless of his personal probs.....
  21. Ok...so I was off about JT. If he had finished his senior year, however, he would have been right up there. I remember that Portland game very much, the one where he injured his leg, and the crowd reaction right after. Still urks me to this day. Thank goodness Carlos Payne came in at RB and finished the job. He was the star that night....! As far as Phillip, I knew he had to be 1st or 2nd. He was the first superstar RB at White House...He was incredible.....
  22. Me either...but all I gotsda say is WOOOHOOOO!!!!! A legendary coach like Calvin Short coming to coach the WH freshman squad is a dream come true! I am so excited to get this season underway. Kris...you always do an amazing job with our site. A million thanks to you....
  23. I'd really be surprised as well, to see Mark return for another full season, as he has stated repeatedly in interviews, that he couldn't take another year emotionally and physically, but who knows? If Roush has to wait another year for McMurray, I don't believe they will be content to just put some lame duck in the #6 car. So...wishful thinking for me, I see Mark Martin behind the wheel, at least part of next year.
  24. Good to hear that we have some strong potential coming in at the QB position from the freshman class. I'm sure in the end Coach Porter will put the best player in. Coach Mash did an exceptional job (as always) with last year's middle school team, so I would not be surprised to see freshmen making an impact at the varsity level.
