  1. End of 3rd - Farragut 10, Collierville 0
  2. Every championship team has some special people involved, many of whom that never make headlines. Congratulations to a wonderful group of kids and a great team.
  3. Congratulations South Doyle. Good Luck at the 'boro.
  4. You can link into the Farragut website to find that information. http://www.admiralbaseball.com/
  5. The longest most successful run in Tennessee baseball history ended last night. Their record is as follows: 1998 - State Quarterfinal 1999 - State Runner-Up 2000 - State Quarterfinal 2001 - State Runner-Up 2002 - State Runner-Up 2003 - State Champion (48-1) Ranked 3rd in Nation 2004 - State Champion (46-2) Ranked 2nd in Nation 2005 - State Semi finals 2006 - State Champion
  6. Don't be so hard on Scorecard10 there LCborn. Steam engines were still around when DB won their last state championship. And that fourth place team from District 4 was in fourth place because they had been saving their ace pitcher all year just in case they got to play DB. Not to mention that there was a bad call in the first inning that cost DB the game, preventing them from winning the state championship. Of course they would have marched right through the bracket at the Boro without any trouble at all. IF IF IF IF IF
  7. Some day, some way, DB is going to win their first state championship since the Eisenhower administration in some sport. I just hope it is not in baseball. /tongue.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":P" border="0" alt="tongue.gif" />
  8. No team from Knox. "saves a pitcher for the Tribe". When you are in an elimination game you pitch your best available pitcher against the other team's best available pitcher. Last year it was Farragut beating DB 3-2 with Catapano. In 2005 it was Halls winning 8-2. In 2004 it was Halls winning 8-3. I believe that all of those games were at J. Fred. South-Doyle has an excellent baseball team and Farragut has won 19 out of their last 21 games. I will say if DB wins the state in 2007, they will have earned it.
  9. You are absolutely correct about Coach Pharr. In his nine years at Farragut, every team has reached the state quarterfinals. Three state championships, three state runner-ups, seven district tournament championships, eight region championships, and he makes his players better people as well as better baseball players.

  11. I see from your relatively small number of posts that you are either new to CoachT or are now here with a new name. Farragut baseball has a strong tradition of letting their play on the field speak for the program instead of words on a website. They win with class and lose with class. Bartlett has an excellent coach who is developing a great program. Oakland, Riverdale, and Collierville are also excellent programs. To lose to any of these teams is no disgrace and to beat them is an honor. Tip your hat, wish them luck, and hope to meet them again when it counts.
  12. It sounds like some coaches may be more interested in "winning percentage" instead of "winning state championships". Throwing a young pitcher into the fire at a weekend tournament provides an excellent opportunity to evaluate his performance as well as to prepare him for the future. It doesn't matter whether you win or lose that game, the important games are in May.
  13. I think two years ago was the coldest i have ever been at a baseball game. Maybe the showers will miss you this year like I will miss that peach cobbler.
  14. Global warming must be creating a havoc with this tournament. Temperatures in the upper 70s to low 80s for the weekend. That must be about 50 degrees warmer than normal. /rolleyes.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid="" border="0" alt="rolleyes.gif" />
  15. Farragut played in six elimination games and won them all. At South-Doyle in the district loser's bracket final, at Halls in the Region, at Dobyns-Bennett in the sectional, Ravenwood in the state, two games versus Collierville in the state, and Bartlett in the state championship game. Bearden played in one elimination game at home against Karns and lost. That's all that needs to be said.
