Great post...I believe that same thing. Sometimes people are in amazement of how great a job coaches do at disciplining young men in a sport that keeps them in line. Having one great coach can completely change a parents outlook on football or school sports period.

IF that...and what they need is some good ole butt whuppin and a male role model in their life if they don't have one.

You hit the nail on the head with that one and I dunno why Kublah got so upset about what you said. What they did was very admirable, but I just hope they don't return to being "snobs" when it comes to being back around the school environs. Just because you do random acts of kindness doesn't mean that pardons your regular comfort zone behaviors.

West TN relief efforts are abound...Here's just one that I've gotten all the details on. Also, there's a shelter at West Jackson Baptist Church and they need volunteers. Homes are also needed for families to be taken into. I'll see if I can find a number for that. West TN Healthcare, Kroger, Milan Express, The Rocket(102.3), and WBBJ TV have teamed up and have placed a Milan Express truck at the University Parkway Kroger location. They're taking bottled water and monetary donations only. They'll be there for about a week. If you would rather send money, call the Red Cross at 1-800-HELP NOW. As of 10pm tonight, the 1st Milan Express truck had been filled, a 2nd had been filled, they were both sent and now they're working on a 3rd. (The 1st truck was filled within 24 hrs! AMAZING!)

That's what they said last year when T Mosier was out and Craig Massey was in as a sophomore QB. From the Jackson Sun's story about Craig's injury... "A year ago, Massey led the Cavaliers to a 9-3 record, a third-place finish in Region 6-3A and two games games into the playoffs. Crockett County's run ended in a 28-17 loss to South Side. Now, Pratt's club is stuck on 18 career wins with Massey under center."

Earnest's bio @ UM's football site Earnest is now playing for the University of Memphis. Also another Crockett Co player...Alberto Diaz, but I'm not sure where he is now or if he's going to be playing college ball. Oh and Rod Smith from Milan, also now with the U of M!

Wonder if that's the same George Abernathy that is the editor for the new football mag in West TN--On the Ball?(www.ontheballmag.com) I just looked in it and he wrote in the Editor's Note "As a former high school athlete myself (although I use the term loosely)..." Just wondering if you know or think that's the same guy. Abernathy doesn't sound like a very common name.
