  1. Congratulations to the Dragons on their bowl game this Saturday. York tied with Upperman and Smith Co for 3rd all with 3-3 region records. It was decided by overall records even though Upperman and Smith both played single A teams and York played all 3A, 4A and 5A teams. (York beat Smith Co, Smith beat Upperman and Upperman beat York). The game will be at 5pm Central time at Grace Christian Academy.
  2. Pickett Co. rebound? They went to the state last year...there is nothing to rebound from. Clarkrange didn't go but Pickett did for the 2nd straight year. Both Pickett County and Clarkrange should go to the state this year. Pickett County is said to be quicker than they were last year and last year they were quick. They went 20-1 over the summer.
  3. Reward for 4th playoff berth...traveling to Alcoa or CAK!
  4. Upperman beat York by 20...Upperman in. York beat Smith Co by 7...York in. Smith Co beat Upperman by just 2. Smith Co out.
  5. Nothing is confusing. York DID win 3 region games. And Smith County BEAT Upperman while York beat Smith County. They go by overall records and both Smith and Upperman played single A teams for easy wins while York took on tougher teams. Maybe next year York should load up on weak single A teams for their non-league schedule. Nothing is confusing, just unfair.
  6. They make it because of a three way tie because of overall records which isn't fair. Upperman played a weak single A Monterey, while Smith played a single A Gordonsville a team better than Monterey but still single A. York played no lower than AAA, 2 4A teams (Livingston and unbeaten Stone Memorial) and a 5A White County.
  7. They have similar scores againt same opponents except for Upperman but Mason Cravens was out for that game. Owls have to be favored at home, but with a playoff spot on the line, both schools will give it their all. York has plenty of talent. I think a lot will depend on play calling for York plus not wasting time outs switching plays which happens too often. The best high school game I ever saw was at Smith County a few years ago when York won 15-14 going ahead on a 93 yard pass play and then going for the 2 points with very little time left in the game. It was a state quarter final. York went to Milan and was ahead 15-14 at the half before losing in the 2nd half. Smith County fans have a lot of enthusiasm, but I expect a lot of people from York will be there too. This should be a good game.
  8. That was never the score. It was only 14-13 (York ahead) at the half but York got ahead 36-13 before Grundy County scored again. It was the worst officiating I've ever seen. No running scoreboard because apparently the timekeeper didn't show, 2 personal fouls called both times the tackler hit the runner 2 or 3 feet inbounds and he tumbled out of bounds...a legal tackle since it happened on the field of play, even if the runner rolled out of bounds. Then an interference in the end zone. York was in scoring position at the end of the 1st half but time ran out before they could hike the ball...no running clock on the scoreboard. Same at the end of the game but I doubt York would have tried to score at the point. There were so many penalties against both teams! Great to see Mason Cravens back at QB. I was very impressed with the Grundy QB.
  9. Comparing scores don't always reflect what a match up be like but, come on! Grundy 13-12 over Cannon County. York 49-0 over Cannon County
  10. Crangefan has it right...York is loaded with talent, but also lost their QB who usually runs for over 100 yards a game and throws for a lot too. As for the coach...York was tied with DeKalb County at 21 all after leading by 2 touchdowns in the 4th quarter. York had 4th and 2 at their own 22 with about a minute to go. Instead of punting and trusting his team to hold DeKalb and then go for the win on OT, he went for it and didn't get it. DeKalb Co. scored on their 3rd play. Giving them the ball at the 22 was dumb! Then 3rd and three usually means a pass, instead of running for the 3 when they have strong backs!
  11. Mason may not be back this week but should return soon. Can't let up now against the Bees...this could be for a playoff spot.
  12. Both teams have losing records, but LA has lost to ranked Cookeville 6A, ranked and unbeaten Stone Memorial, ranked CAK, Smith County and Chattanooga Central. York has lost to ranked Stone Memorial, lost to White Co, lost a close game to DeKalb Co after having a 2 touchdown lead, unbeaten and ranked Sequatchie County, and beat Cannon County 49-0. Playing on their home field, York should be favored...any thoughts?
  13. No chance of beating any of these three. Grundy beat Cannon by 1 point. York beat them by 49.
  14. I see DeKalb and Sequatchie being 5-1 or 6-0 depending on who beats who. Then Smith & York will be either 3-3 or 4-2 depending on who wins. Upperman is far weaker than anyone thought they would be. They should be 2-4. Grundy won by 1 over Cannon so Cannon will be 0-6 and Grundy 1-5.
  15. And the fan is still sick. You people should be ashamed of a program which allows fans to be assaulted.
  16. Yes and your little display was life threatening to one fan. One fan had to be treated at the emergency room for hours because of this assault. If you are so clueless you don't understand that some people have severe allergies which can lead to anaphalactic shock and possible death, or asthma which can also be life threatening, then you aren't getting much of an education down there. This was no joke, no little prank...that fan is still VERY sick! By the way...York had more yardage than you...411 yards to your 402. It was the usual poor play calling which cost York the game. They are easily as talented as your team, and certainly have better fans.
  17. FOR YOUR INFORMATION SOMEONE WAS HURT! A York fan had to go to the emergency room for treatment. He has a history of anaphalatic shock which can be life threatening...throat and lungs swelling. He couldn't get away from the smoke and was coughing and choking, doubled over and was treated for smoke inhalation. Luckily he had benedryl with him and didn't have a full blown anaphalatic shock attack. It wasn't a matter of a little smoke...it was a situation where someone could have died.
  18. When Sequatchie Co scored their first TD a fan set off a smoke bomb which covered fans in the stands. The S.C. fans were warned to stop. At the end of the game they threw 4 or 5 smoke bombs onto the field, covering it at least 20' high with smoke so think you couldn't see more than 10' onto the field. It went into the stands where fans were filing out and down field where fans were leaving the game. One fan, with severe allergies and a history of anaphalatic shock (life threatening swelling of throat and lungs) had to go to the emergency room for treatment.
  19. You MUST be joking! You will hear a "couple" come Friday.
  20. You are right. I have never seen a team with the game tied and under 2 minutes to go, go for it on 4th and 2 at their own 22. The coach said he let the players decide...a coach coaches and should explain to the players why that is such a bad decision, then punt, defend, and then try to win in OT.
  21. Pickett County is quicker than last year and went 20-1 this summer. I don't know if they can match up to last year's team, but they will be very good again.
  22. You HAVE to be thinking of someone else. Coach Rogers, with over 1100 wins, stands by the bench and quietly gives instructions (but mostly doesn't have to since this team is so well coached), never yells or carries on like so many coaches. He is in the Hall of Fame and is one of the most respected coaches in Tennessee.
