Alvin C. York started the school and worked for years to fund it. Then the state of Tennessee, to thank him for his heroism in WWI, took over the school funding. Lately they have been wanting to go back on their promise which would be very dishonorable.

And? ...so what does that mean? I have no idea of what you are asking. As for this weekend. They will be playing two AAA teams. It looks like Daniel Boone wasn't that good last year but Dobyns Bennett was very good. It will be two good games I think since PC is just single A.

Pickett Co has everyone back and was less than 2 minutes from beating unbeaten Union City last year in the state tournament. They were also up by 6 at the end of 3. They have 3 All State players plus another who as a freshman was as good as the others. No one else has 3 All State players coming back.

Who said that the year they won it it was a weak region????? Did you not see "weak" in parentheses? Do you not know what that means? It means that back then someone or many thought Livingston would be weak because of a 5-5 record. My putting it in parentheses means someone else said it. It also means I didn't think that. Better pay more attention in English class!

I'm surprised no one has come on here about the comments from Lawrence Co. on Friday Night Thunder. I wasn't paying that much attention until he mentioned Livingston. I don't know if it was a Lawrence Co. radio announcer or their coach saying that Livingston Co. and Stone Memorial come from a weak region so Lawrence Co. will advance. I wonder what the Wildcat players think about that? I remember a "weak" 5-5 Livingston Academy team going 10-5 and winning a state championship not that many years ago.

Thank you. Anyone know if they are talented or not? I heard PC had a hard time getting teams to play them because the girls are a favorite to win the state, and the boys will be good too, so maybe that is why they had to schedule them.

They played mostly non-TSSAA teams last year. They are Pickett's first game so they must be TSSAA now. Maybe not, but I can't imagine PC would play a non-TSSAA team unless they were out of state like Clinton Co, KY which they play most years.

I think this is their first year in TSSAA play. They are small but so was Temple. Are they loaded up like Temple was or just starting out with students there, and not there for basketball?

I agree. I think Coach Rogers will have a competitive team. Most likely they will be 3rd, but they won't be a walk over either.

Pickett Co. does not play dirty. Any time a team has outstanding players and has won a lot of state championships like Pickett Co. (5). Jackson Co. (8) and Clarkrange (8) jealous people say nasty things. I have watched PC basketball for 20 years and have NEVER seen this or EVER heard anyone claim that they play dirty.

About 2 Pickett fans were involved protecting the student sucker punched by a York player. The entire York student section poured out of the stands and over to the fight. No Pickett player was anywhere near the fight nor attempted to move towards it. There are no worries about Pickett fans whatsoever. Pickett was 21-10 2 years ago and made it to the region semis. They beat a very good Livingston team and plenty of others. last year with 2 freshman starters and a very young team they did just fine. They lost to a very good white Co. team by 1 and 4 points. They beat Monterey to advance to the district semis and then lost to #1 Goodpasture in the region. They will have a lot more success this year too.

I guess you have no idea of what karma means. It doesn't mean hurting yourself for no reason. Since Pickett creates its own schedule, I don't suppose they were out to get themselves for things that haven't happened. Had they, an official would have called a technical immediately. When a school like Pickett Co. has the success it has had over the years, a few of those who have been beaten so many times attack them and ugliness comes out. Sorry that you feel it is necessary to be hateful and be such a negative person. The Pickett Co. girls will be a favorite to win the state and the boys will be loaded. Sorry to give you the bad news, especially when it sounds like you live in such a negative way.

Great comeback Dragons. Down 26-14 at the half, outscored Grundy Co. 34-8 in the second half for 48-34 win. The defense really picked it up with some big stops after struggling in the 1st half. York is now alone in 4th place. I think they can beat Smith Co. at home.

I spoke with one of my Clarkrange friends and it is Kara Meadows who is hurt. I pray that she'll have a complete recovery and come back for an outstanding senior year.

Who was hurt at Clarkrange? I hate to hear anyone getting hurt and missing their season. I wish her the best in healing and a complete recovery.
