  1. I would love the title to stay in the West, also...but not by the means of Houston. Sorry, can't go there with the Mustangs.

    Next Year

Germantown better finish games next year, that's all I have to say about this topic.
  3. Congratulations to MUS...represent West Tennessee!!! Sorry about my bad calls...oh well, the Houston game was more wishful thinking than an actual prediction and the MUS loss was just pessimism. Go Red Devils!
  4. White Station over Ridgeway......got to go with the records and the turn around in White Station's program. I believe the Spartans will rebound from a heavy loss to Germantown last week.
  5. MBA over MUS...sadly, Whitehaven over Houston....gladly, Germantown over Collierville....hopefully!
  6. Germantown by 35....oh wait, that was last year...Germantown by 4 because of the history of the series!
  7. I'll go with Germantown....not hating on Collierville but I have to go with my hometown team. Go Red Devils!
  8. Would love to see Germantown back in the title game; however, that would be one tough road for the Red Devils. Let's Beat the Dragons and make it 11 wins out of 12 games since 1994 in the Gtown/Cville series! P.S. I don't know why certain people smack down on West TN...totally uncalled for and you know it. Our guys out here play the same game and don't deserve this MT and ET superiority BS. Just play the game!
  9. Going with Houston....based on past experience. The city of Germantown is a big soccer area with many talented players who compete on high levels. Germantown High won the 1999 Girls Fall Soccer "National" title with a 25-0 record. The Houston girls were the 1998 and 1996 state champions. Germantown High also won the 1990 state runner-up, 1994 title, and 2001 title. The Houston boys have won back to back national titles in 1999 and 2000. I will have to go with Houston...although I don't want to.
  10. thumb You're right for the most part dragon12... except change "another regional title" to "a regional title"....it's not like Collierville wins the region year in and year out. In fact, 2000 was the last time Collierville ranked first in regional standings. Should be a good game...don't forget September 14, 2001....nobody gave Germantown a chance in a game against the highly-touted number 1 or number 2 in the CA Collierville Dragons...and of course, we all know what happened. Can't wait for the game....have fun!
  11. Good job, Collierville. The region is turning into quite the drama zone.... 1. Collierville 2. White Station 3. Whitehaven 4. Houston 5. Germantown 6. Kirby 7. Hamilton Germantown, wake up! You have to win the next two games to secure a spot in the playoffs..... I believe there is the chance that Whitehaven will be thrown to the 5th spot... Go Red Devils!
  12. lil, I have yet to figure out why Houston is so, shall we say "confident"....the Germantown of today does not have cocky athletes...the guys on the football team at Germantown are "confident" in their ability because, unlike the Mustangs, they have been to MTSU for something other than a college visit. Now, I will be the first to admit that during the late 70's through the early to mid 90s Germantown was the school of arrogance and cockiness. I think athletes in the area have been spread out over so many high schools now that the competition is pretty equal.
  13. Slapdown, Opperman! Houston just got slammed by someone from Bartlett...not Germantown. Keep 'em coming!
  14. Okay, let's get something straight...I didn't come on this site and just randomly make my last post...no, matt912 begged me to respond to him when he tried to lay the smackdown. Enjoy your win--I'm not trying to take away from it. But by all means you do not own this city because you beat us by one point.
  15. I don't think you own anything. I guess the series stands at 11-5 in favor of Germantown, the name of the city where your high school's located. Don't even try to act like you b****ed slapped us on Friday night--you won by a measly point off an awesome kick--that's it! Don't forget who won state last year when I was a senior---can you remind me of the last time Houston won state....oh yea, that's right, they haven't.
  16. Germantown captured the district 16 AAA title on monday afternoon, carding a 158 off standout performances by sophomore P. Fenton and freshman Abby Irwin. Houston, who finished 4th at last year's AAA state meet, carded a 159 off medalist Lauren Nelms' individual 78. Go Red Devils!
  17. One correction for the original poster--the last time Houston beat Germantown was the 2001 season, thus only three years ago and not four. BOW DOWN PONIES! Series to date (starting with the first junior class at Houston High School in 1991-1992): YEAR WINNER `91---------GERMANTOWN `92--------GERMANTOWN `93--------(W)HOSTON `94---------GERMANTOWN `95--------GERMANTOWN `96---------GERMANTOWN `97--------GERMANTOWN `98---------GERMANTOWN (Regular season) `98--------(W)HOSTON (PLAYOFFS 3RD ROUND) `99---------GERMANTOWN `00--------GERMANTOWN `01---------(W)HOSTON (Regular season) `01--------(W)HOSTON (PLAYOFFS 3RD ROUND) `02---------GERMANTOWN `03--------GERMANTOWN To date the teams have played 15 times. Germantown leads the "Battle of the Zip Codes" 11-4. Come watch the Red Devils try to expand that overall lead this Friday night at HHS.

  19. It depends... Germantown defeats the rest of the region, then they are on top; otherwise I predict Houston to win out the region after WSHS loses to Germantown and Collierville loses to Houston and Houston and Collierville and White Station beat Whitehaven, putting the final order as Houston, Germantown (after beating WSHS and Collierville and Kirby but losing to Houston), Collierville, White Station Teams that make the playoffs: Houston Germantown Collierville White Station Don't Kirby, Hamilton, Whitehaven

    Memphis

Note to VolunteerGeneral: When I referenced impact players going to big name schools I was talking about Germantown players...not Melrose. I was saying that Germantown has had players go to UTK and Ole Miss (being bigger name schools than U of M(emphis) and Delta State) but most of the guys who have come from GHS have not had impact roles on the team at the college level, atleast in recent memory. Please be more attentive to what I say before jumping to conclusions. Thanks.
  21. Before I start really getting into what I need to spell out for someone to hear, let me begin by saying that I am not a racist or a sore loser or a mental case. That is a warning and if you flame me about any of the above, I'll be upset. Disclaimer: CBHS is a GREAT football program and def. deserved the W tonight....I congratulate them for their successes (great atmosphere, by the way). Okay so here it is: I hate the way Germantown (the school for the most part, not so much the city) has changed over the past 5-10 years. Germantown once owned Memphis and the surrounding area in the athletics and the arts (although I have to say they probably are still best in the arts) and the academics were definitely top three in public schools. I'd say this was about 10-20 years ago. In fact, in 1985, Money Magazine listed GHS as one of the top 100 schools in the country--Almost 2700 students and faculty who really cared about the many facets of the school. Germantown is a nearly all white suburb and up until about 5 years ago, the main high school (Germantown, not Houston, which should have never been built) was too. I'm not saying there weren't black kids and other races represented...I'm talking about the atmosphere...I won't even try to explain this because I'm going to get flamed. In fact Germantown won Best of the Preps for 17 years in a row from '76 to '92 and then again in 1995 and 1997. Girls BOP was also won 11 times and 3 boys BOP. I hate how things change....the HS students at Germantown in most of the eighties and early 90s had more money than students today, showed more school spirit, had expensive and stylish taste in fashion and were all around better. I'm sorry to say it but I don't feel connected to my generation, even though I was SGA President at the school last year. I really do care about the school and public schools in general...that's why I'm so into all this stuff. Whatever you say please don't hate on me. If you don't have something neutral or positive to say then don't' say anything at all.....bye!
  22. I have no comment about your placing Houston as the number 4 team in Memphis; actually, I do...that is very sketch, very....I'm not saying Germantown is better right now...but Houston as number 4....no
