They are good, but the RB is only a freshman and he isnt as good as Sammy Pickett (YET). He doesnt have 4.2 forty speed. The QB is very good as well. A lot of similarities between Cook and Starkey. Overall the team isnt as good as they were in 93, 94, 95, 98, 99, but they are a very good football team.

Correction Westmoreland did play for Jacksonville before he got cut last month. Anyway Irish fan Marion does play hard, but they are not very talented. No speed to really speak of at all. South Pitt beat them 54-12 and in all honesty it could have been about 75-12. South Pitt called the dogs off on them that night. You have a chance. It should be a good game between you too guys.

Yeah Ron is still the QB. He changed his name to Ron Cook. Jones isnt going to college anywhere. Yeah I think Ron only had 75 or 80 yards last season, but you have to remember Gordonsville wet the field all week, and it came a monsoon that night. There was 4 or 5 inches of water standing on the field. You know as well as I do this totally took South Pittsburg's speed advantage away. That helped ya'll a lot. Ron is pretty fast and elusive. I think he runs about a 4.5. South Pittsburg is just all in all a whole lot better this year than they were the past two seasons. They also have a freshman tailback that is pretty good for a freshman.

Guys Watertown has had a great year, but let's be realistic here. They are going into the Pirates house as big underdogs. They have not beat a decent team this season. I do not know anything about the Watertown Waterbugs, but it will be extremely difficult to beat South Pitt at home. They have not lost a home playoff game since 1993. They simply do not lose home playoff games. Oh yeah are ya'll really called the Waterbugs? I typed that because I have heard several people say your mascot was a waterbug. We played Copper Basin and they are not a good team. We had them 35-0 at the half and our QB got hurt on the 1st play of the second half. Our 2nd team guy was at home so we put another guy in that doesnt even play Qb. You should not struggle with Copper Basin, but if you do struggle with them you guys are in serious trouble next week when South Pitt comes to town.

South Pitt and Boyd's defenses are both faster than South Pittsburg's defense in 94. Granted we were very good on defense that year, as evidence losing 6-0 in the only loss of the year to the eventual 2A state champions that had a player named Westmoreland. They scored a defensive touchdown to win the game. South Pittsburg and Boyd are both very very good on defense this year. Actually they are both very good on offense too. It is just both defenses played really well the first time they played. Anyway comparing South Pitts defense this year to 94 I would say its pretty close. line is pretty even, Lb's this year are better, and Secondary in 94 was better.

To my knowledge everyone on South Pitt's team has played Junior High ball with the exception of #2. He moved here from North Jackson during his Freshman year. The group of seniors has just gotten better and better. Coach Grider and his staff have done a terrific job with this bunch. My hats off to them. You are right Possum, in junior high they were not very good.

I remember what happened the last time Unaka made the playoffs. 1994 was the year and they traveled down to play a machine in South Pittsburg. I think it was 49-0 at the half. We did win it all that year so don't feel too bad. Good luck against the Tidal Waves.

Hey Macon County fans. I am from South Pittsburg. Trust me your region has a great chance to sweep the other region in the first round. That region you are matched against is very very weak. Granted Howard does have some good athletes. It will be some of the most undisciplined, non coached team you will see. Good Luck.

How did Clay County beat Gordonsville? I can't believe they beat them. I bet Gordonsville will be worried come the second round of the playoffs when they play S.P. or Whitwell.

Rockwood will win. That 2A region Happy Valley is in is about as weak as the 1A region Cloudland is in.

South Pittsburg has a freshman that could be really good. He has about 970 yards through the first 8 games. He should eclipse 1000 tonight against the Red Tigers from WhitWell.

If South Pitt wins by 13 then they are in big trouble. Whitwell is not a good team. If South Pitt plays they will name the score. Book it down, bet the house, take it to the bank, it will happen

Whitwell by 4? Nothing like being a die hard. Hey ProHScout I like your assumption, but I do not think Whitwell can score 14 on S.P's defense. It could happen if youger guys get in the game. They only scored 14 on Bledsoe, 7 on Grundy and S.P.'s defense is alot better than those two teams. Someone said South Pittsburg would score 35. If they hold South Pittsburg to 35 points they have played a great game. I will make predictions later in the week.

The first year we went to the Region alignment it was different. In 1993 the 2 and 3 seeds from different regions played and the 1 seed got a first round bye. I remember South Pittsburg was off that first week. I think this lasted only one year before they went to four seeds from each region. The bad thing about this is most coaches probably do not want their team to have an off week at that time of the year.

Hey Possum. Would you like to put a little wager on this game? You seem confident Whitwell will pull the upset. You are right if they did beat South Pitt it would be the upset of the year across Tennessee. This game should be so one sided it would be a major upset. Last year everyone said it would be close and some said Whitwell would win. If you are confident they will then lets put some money on it.

I saw Trousdale play many times and 3A is the weakest classification in the state. That is why they skipped 2A and went straight to 3A. I am sure Coach Satterfield will even tell you their teams the past 4 seasons were nothing like teams they had from 90-99. No comparison.
