  1. When is the next election for school board in Cheatam Co? Is the director of schools as anti-sports as she is being made out to be? Keep us all posted on the results.
  2. You fool, this was a good football game all the way through. Congrats to Huntingdon. You guys have a good football team. Donnell is a stud. I can only imagine what he will be like when he is a senior. Any truth to the rumor I heard that he has already been contacted by Oklahoma and Tennessee? I thought the big difference in the game was that Huntingdon was able to capitalize when Lexington made a mistake and Lexington was unable to (see the fumble on the Huntingdon 30). Good luck to both teams.
  3. I don't have a problem with paying taxes, as long as they go to good use. Everyone uses the same "for the kids" excuse all the time. Of all the property tax, wheel tax, income tax, etc. increases, how much of them actually go to the kids? Probably not much. The reason most of the increases are needed is because of all the administration and bureaucracy that is involved in the public school system now. If they let about 10 people with a bit of common sense go into any school system in Tennessee and make cuts, I guarantee they could come out with a surplus that could actually be used "for the kids." Moving on.....it is a crying shame that the members of the school boards continue to use athletics as their pawn. I hope the taxpayers and voters of Cheatam County do remember this come reelection time and kick these fools out of office. When and where is the meeting anyway? This has made me so mad I want to be there to see how this turns out in case some board members need to be kicked square in the................
  4. See all you "cocky" Mustang fans in about three hours. Here's hoping it'll be a game worth a 100 mile drive! Go Big Red!
  5. I'll save my rant on the education student/administation issue and ask a simple question. How much does the director of schools make there?
  6. Just imagine, this is the Huntingdon/Lexington game, imagine what it will be like when Milan actually plays the mustangs! How many people are expected to be at the game tonight?
  7. Nah, West TN all around is the best. I was just pointing out where you could get BBQ worth enough to be considered.
  8. Wow, the 100 post mark. Good job boys. Anyway, I saw on thejacksonsun.com that Evans has only thrown 15 passes this year thusfar. Is that correct? If so, Lexington's running game has been WAY overlooked in this thread. Please correct me if this is wrong. And does anyone know how many yards Fields has rushed for this year? I know he broke 200 vs. Riverside, but how did he do last week?
  9. I wouldn't call them cocky. They just have the same problem every team has.....idiot fans. They just come out in bigger droves when teams are winning. (I'm not calling all Mustang fans idiots, you all know the ones I am referring to.)
  10. I talked with some people at home and they said the place should be packed. How many does Paul Ward hold anyway? And how many people are being expected?
  11. If you get the ball 25 times a game, or 250 times in a team game season and rush for 2000 yeards, then that is still 8.0 YPC. That is still impressive. Even 300 carries equals over 6 yards a carry. It's an impressive feat, period. You will see this happen more in smaller schools than the bigger schools becasue the 4A and 5A schools have more athletes to split up the workload. Plus, since teams are starting to use more of a balanced attack it is something that will probably not be seen as much anymore.
  12. Try the Western Ave BBQ and Sub Shop near 640. I had my worries at first, but they were quickly calmed. It's the "official BBQ of the UT men's rugby team."
  13. I'd really take Huntingdon fans more seriously if you wouldn't let you elementary school kids post on here post on here. Oh yeah, and I've not read much being said by Lexington saying they are the greatest thing ever, but according to SOME Mustang fans, this team is ready to take on the New England Patriots tonight instead of the Colts.
  14. Now imagine Evans and McAdams on the same TEAM which would have happened if McAdams's dad didn't move to Ripley. Talk about QB controversies!
  15. 2-3 years ago I would have said that 2A is tougher, not so this year. A lot of the 2A powerhouses aren't nearly as powerful as they have been in recent years. Huntingdon is about the only dominant one left. Milan is good, but lost a lot, Westview is very young, Union City is just down, Humboldt isn't what they used to be either. Crockett Co, South Side, Lexington, McNairy, Covington, Ripley make 3A better than 2A for the time being. It could all change in a year though. On other topics..... Do the Mustangs still run the base wing-T that they have run in recent years? What is their base D now?
  16. When did they go back to ranking the top 10 and not just 5?
  17. I wish there was a way to get some teams out of regions 3 and 5 to make all regions more level with around 7-8 teams. You've got all of that and then the Memphis region with 5 teams. Why doesn't Fayette Ware get grouped in with the Memphis schools? It's got to be closer for them to travel there 2-3 times a year for games than it is for them to travel to other schools in their region. I wish they would go to a 4 division format. It would make life so much easier for this.
  18. This is absolutly haliarious. I mean haliarious. I have nothing but the utmost respect for Coach Mansfield and the Mustangs. They are the best team in West TN and is one of the top 20 programs in the state in any division. I also expect them to repeat in 2A. Actually as we speak I am in Nashville and the only way I can keep up with West TN football is on here. I was at the game 2 years ago, but was not there last year. I do remember an article on thejackson.com about Bell scoring a TD with not much time left and that causing a rift between the coaches after the game. It had something to do with his birthday or something. That was all my first post was stating. From that fans started becoming defensive about running up the score. From there I just wanted to see how many feathers I could ruffle of Mustang fans. I'm just glad to know it was mission accomplished. Lay off the coffee people, we're all just here to have a good time. I stand by my statement that it will be a good game. Both teams are experienced, and it should be a high scoring affair. As I said earlier, Huntindon is the favorite as they should be, but Lexington will make it a game. I don't know about last year, but they were a break or two a couple of years ago from making it a close game. It'll be worth my 100 mile drive to see it.
  19. I'm not about to deny that Lexington tried to put up points. If the game is 36-3, I'll try to at least put up some points too. Nor did I say I ever say Mansfield was trying to run up the score. I was trying to explain the reason form the Lexington coach being so mad going into this game. That being said and Huntingdon fans becoming so defenseive, I thought I would let the scores speak for themselves. 20. West Tennessee has the most raw talent, but it is not usually a deep. Middle and East Tennessee have better coaches, hence the better teams. The pay is usually better so they have better coaching. Maryville is a really good team, not great accross the board talent wise (boy I can't wait for the replies to that comment!), but they are so well coached in the fundamentals that they are able to make up for any lacking in talent. Yes, Central had more raw talent that you did on the field last year, and anyone of you that knows football will not argue with me. There are a lot of other factors that go into it as well, such as discipline, but the better coaching is the big difference.
  21. Hmmmm...........if I remember correctly, the score was 36-19 with under two minutes left (may have been under 1), Huntingdon's starters were till in the game, and Mansfield kept giving the ball to the start RB last year (his name slips my mind) because it was his birthday or something like that. I'f sure that the calls weren't HB dive right either.
  22. Mansfield put up some points in the final minute or two last year in the win when they were already up by 20 or so and that ruffled some feathers. This is the most athletic team Lexington has fielded since the late 80s. Not many high school teams are able to boast a QB, RB, and WR that aren't in the Super 7 (an entirely different story). Even the most ignorant of fans will have to admit that it will be harder than normal to defend. Huntingdon's main strength is the players' physical strength. If Lexington can man up with them in the trenches then this will be a close game. If Huntington is able to dominate the line then Huntingdon will win again. Mansfield does an incredible job of having his teams physically prepared. I will caution the Mustang fan with this. Don't think it will be a runaway simply because of what has happened the past few years. Anyone at the games the past 2 years knows that with a break or two falling Lexington's way, the outcomes would have been MUCH closer than the final scores indicated. This is an older team that has experience, and that does count for something (see Oregon State's kicker). Huntingdon is the favorite as they should be, but don't count the Tigers out yet. It should be a game worth watching, and thankfully I'm going to get to make it to this one.
  23. I noticed the Mustangs put up 450 yards rushing last week. That's impressive. Is the Tigers defense quick enough to stop their rushing attack? And can anyone give me Lexington's stats from last night, all the details you can if possible? Well, mainly how did the rushing game look? All I can find online is a brief summary of the game.
  24. As I said, Lexington by 2 TDs!
  25. Yeah, Tucker moved there his junior year. I want to say he put together back to back 2000 yard seasons his junior and senior seasons, but I might be wrong. Even if he didn't, he was close to it. If he made it through the linebackers there was no catching him. And even if a linebacker did hit him, there was no guarantee he was going down. He was a beast. He won Mr. Football in 97.
