  1. What's up jlmac? It looks like your OH playoffs will be interesting. I like St. Ed's right now. They should play the winner of Colerain/LaSalle. Should be a good one. I think St. Ed's will hand Glenville their 2nd loss off the season en route to the state title.....
  2. Owl, I can't discuss anything with these homers. It sounds like I really hurt their feelings, but you're right, I should've used "noncompetitive teams" in place of "chumps." I don't, in any way, want to degrade the young kids who bust their butts every Friday night for our entertainment. For that, I apologize to the youngsters.
  3. Seriously, Pep? As a TN fan of high school football, you would want a subpar OR team to represent TN? Sure, ten years ago OR would've been a good representative, but nowadays it's all Alcoa and Maryville from E. Tennessee. Why would you not want this? Oh, I forgot, you are happy and content with just winning the Blount Co championship every year. Heaven forbid that one of your teams steps it up a notch.
  4. I have heard S.Panola will be trying for a game with Hoover next year. It would be great to see them schedule Alcoa or Maryville as well. Honestly, though, I think S.Panola would be too much for Alcoa or Maryville right now. Perhaps a Meridian or Madison Central game would be more competitive.
  5. BS, how ya been? Not much OOS talk until recently. I'm most interested in getting Alcoa to step up and play some real teams, instead of just playing Maryville and then a bunch of chumps the rest of the year...
  6. I had to put it out there... The Herbstreit has been dying out in OH. It appears it is picking up in TX, though. I hope it goes well for both states. That's more games to watch.
  7. KY only has 3 good teams this year: Trinity,Highlands, and Bowling Green. CC struggled with Clarksville 26-13 this year! Oakland will hammer them! Oakland 42 Christian Co. 10
  8. Right now, I would rank Alcoa and Maryville AHEAD of Rutherford County and Div II this year. Would Alcoa go undefeated against all those teams? Certainly not. As a previous poster compared, it would be as difficult as going undefeated in the SEC. There are just too many tough teams in Div II to play week in and week out to not slip up once. I believe someone posted Alcoa could play someone from Div II in this new Blount County Kickoff and that they will still have 3 games left to schedule? How about OOS? A top regional team(not a weak Middletown team from KY) or the Herbstreit would be ideal and would give Alcoa a chance to carry the TN banner nationally.
  9. Seriously, James? I bet you I can predict the scores of each game. Here goes: STA 35 Elder 24 Warren Central 39 Middletown 35 Colerain 14 McKeesport 7 St.X 15 Prattville 10 I hope it is true about Alcoa playing at the Herbsreit. I have been preaching for this for years now. A good small school match-up would be with Mooney,Ursuline,Coldwater, or St.Johns. Or, if Alcoa really wants to step up and play with a big boy, then any one of the GCL teams would be a great match-up.
  10. Owlbooster, I'm sure you followed the thread I started on the 3A boards about Alcoa not playing any good OOS competition earlier this year. I went round and round with these Alcoa/Maryville fans. They seem to be content with just playing eachother in the "Blount County Bowl". I am a huge fan of both Alcoa and Maryville, but I simply wanted the both of them to start looking towards better competition, preferrably regionally. I feel the exposure will make TN better as a whole. I would love to see the both of them carry the TN banner for once against a solid OOS team(Bell Co and Middletown just don't cut the mustard.) It seems to me the only teams that have been walking the walk are the Div II teams.
  11. Owl, you've made some fantastic posts that I completely agree with. I have been preaching the same thing to these Alcoa/Maryville fans for quite some time now. I have received the same type of backlash from them as well. I reiterated, over and over again, that I am not a DII fan, but a TN fan. I support ALL TN schools, especially when they take on an OOS opponent. I'm afraid I am the one to blame for this argument carrying over to the DII boards. I started a thread on the 3A boards asking why Alcoa played a small KY nonpower like Middlesboro and it has escalated into what you have read so far on these DII boards. I expected to get mature and intelligent responses from these guys, but instead I received an onslaught of criticism for assuming Alcoa needed to improve on their schedule. All I can do now is wish both schools well and for them to both bring home gold balls. Kwood, I also think that TN is too watered down with 8 classes. We need to go back to 4 classes and bring the DII schools back into the mix. This really is simple math. TN just doesn't have the numbers for 6 public classes and 2 privates. States that have 6 classes usually have 200-300 more schools than we do. It just doesn't add up here. However, we are doing better then some states in that department. For example, AR has about 225 schools(approximately 100 LESS then we do) and they have 7 classes. That is just asinine to me.
  12. ...or even Olive Branch, S. Panola, Madison Central, Meridian, Hoover, Prattville, Vestavia Hills, Auburn, Lowndes, Buford, North Gwinnett, Peachtree Ridge, Independence, Butler, Mallard Creek, Richmond, Phoebus, Oscar Smith, Hampton, Stone Bridge, Trinity, St. Xavier, Highlands, etc. The list goes on and on. The teams to play are out there and they are not too far off.
  13. I never claimed to be a DII guy either. You just don't get it. I am a fan of all TN teams, DI and DII. When one of those teams has a good team I always want them to succeed and get nationally recognized. Alcoa and Maryville have had some excellent teams the past decade. Now, all I'm saying is for them to step it up a notch regionally or nationally. I haven't bashed the DII schools because they continually step it up by scheduling tougher teams, whether they be in-state or OOS. Come on Pep, I consider you to be a buddy. I didn't mean to hurt your feelings with the namecalling....
  14. Well said. That was an informative and eloquent post. I think that says it all.
  15. Pep(or old man, if you prefer), is that all you can do is bring back the one year that I played at OR, which is one of the better OR teams of all time? That '89 team was loaded with talent and I would be willing to bet they would've beaten your supposedly awesome Alcoa team. When the more recent OR teams get up to par, then I will promote OOS matchups for them as well, don't you get it you clown? Are you Alcoa guys really that stupid? It's all about promoting TN football as a whole!!!! Get on board, you egotistical morons!!
  16. Yeah, you're right, it was ugly with a capital UUU! At least they stepped up and took on the #1 team in the nation that year. That's something Alcoa would never do....
  17. BS, you can continue to falsely accuse me of belittling Alcoa all you want, but the fact remains is that I've done nothing but promote Alcoa's success on these boards, as well as national boards. The thread I started was to simply state that, IMHO, I wished that Alcoa would've played a more elite team. If you look back at all my posts you will see that I have posted nothing but praise for what Alcoa has done. It is you that has blown this whole thing way out of proportion. I simply want Alcoa(and Maryville) to get the national recognition they deserve. It's fans like you that leave a sour taste in everyone's mouths. Sorry that I only played two years of high school football in TN(Webb/Oak Ridge) and the rest OOS. I did, however, live in TN for over ten years. I think I have earned the right to comment on TN football. I never insisted that you value my opinion(obviously you don't), but to only respect it, as I do yours.
  18. Give up on these clowns. They just don't get it! Let them continue to schedule chump teams and pad there records. The real representatives from TN can continue to do what they have been doing, and that is represent admirably. If they want to continue to be the proverbial "big fish in the little pond", then let them......
  19. You're right. I should not let myself stoop to his level. I'm getting tired of him crying about everything and reading his spew.
  20. As I've said before, bonehead, you will get some help through sponsors. That's only if you STEP UP and play one of the big boys. You can also raise the money throughout your community. It's been done numerous times over the years by public schools. Those public schools are the one's who wanted to improve their program and play tougher competition. Ask Riverdale what they did when they traveled to OH and played Kilbourne. I'm sure their was some sort of fundraising for that trip. Heck, ask Gallatin what they did this year, too. You see, it CAN be done. At least Riverdale and Gallatin stepped it up and took on tougher competition. Is your school going to do something about it or are you just going to sit there and cry about it?
  21. That's all you have to say, old man?
  22. Oh yeah, playing 3A ball is playing the best the state has to offer. Excellent point there, Einstein! On the contrary MBA,MUS, and BA have played the likes of S. Panola,Prattville,Trinity, St. Xavier,Moeller, and Bolles over the years. Let's see, Alcoa has played two CHUMP teams, Bell Co and Middlesboro? Yeah, that's really stepping up! BC(or BS, whatever your name is) why don't you and all your big, bad friends go back to Blount County and continue playing Maryville every year and no one else.
  23. Then play someone else who is nationally ranked......other then Maryville.
  24. People, don't get caught up with this Alcoa guy. Him and his cronies are all stuck in their little Blount county hole and don't want to take on any tough competition, other than Maryville. I've already had this debate and not one of the Alcoa fans could give me a legitimate answer as to why they play chump teams when they do travel. If they are happy dominating 3A ball in TN then let them be.....
  25. I know, I know BC. You and your cohorts don't care about your team getting any national or regional recognition.
