Don't know a thing about the kid (grades, attitude, work ethic) But he's one of the best Juniors I have seen since Lance Sexton at Soddy-Daisy. Hopefully he is more coachable.

They are very similar to the Sexton kid, great talent can't be coached. If Ron Shumate and Templeton can't do it I guess Coach Wood got a raw deal.

His big brother set a good example for him on how to be a me first screw the team Loser and they have been enabled by their mother. Just my opinion. Hope they have good JuCo careers, could have been better.

Hixson has 2 juniors that played sparingly in the past 6 freshmen and 2 juniors that have never played. Starting 3 freshmen and best thing I can say about them is Freshmen are eventually seniors hopefully.

Bump Would anyone that has seen them play rather than looking at hall of fame scoreboard like to comment on the orignal post now that they have played Red Bank, Soddy-Daisy, and Walker Valley? I guess Cleveland played their 2nd and 3rd team in the 9 pt demolishing they gave Baylor in the HoF as well??

What school were the freshmen zoned for if they had stayed in the public school system I believe that is part of the problem. My brother graduated from Baylor and I attended McCallie and both have their pick of kids from all of the City schools the list of stars from those schools that could have starred for their community school is long and well known.

So name a school in the City that has a very good middle school program and a sharp AAU program. I think your argument pretty much answered his question about city schools. Most middle schools feed multiple high schools and their is no continuity from 6th grade to 9th grade.

Well Salter may have but he does have the only state championship that has been won there in basketball. A little Trivia after watching the girls game can anyone tell me who the only coach that beat that team at CCS that year was?

Sometimes you get even worse a parent that e-mails 3 hours before the opening game and says the best player in the game can't play Varsity only JV because they may move over the summer but not to the zone they are gonna play. It's all a bunch of BS and a good coach says your not playing JV your not practicing your not coming in the gym during games good luck in AAU.

The only one that thinks it's some new visionary offense is calipari and all his worshippers. It's been around along time was invented by Vance Walberg at Pepperdine. Also known as the AASAA (Atack, attack, skip, attack, attack). Calapari renamed it to DDM. As for what defense beats it seems a sagging man does a pretty good job if you try to run it with crappy outside shooters like Memphis has.

Well we'll see this year Tennessee has superior athletes to Memphis as opposed to fundamentally sound 6'2 guards across the back line we'll see how that DDM works out for them. Wanna see a good offense watch some old UCLA tape.

Yes, and they are working on it. They have a freshman playing point that scored 13 in that game and a freshman playing shooting guard. They have 3 other freshmen that will be in the lineup before the season is over and it takes some time to change a program from hasn't ever won to refuses to lose but they have the right coach and have been in the gym and weight room since april. They lost by 21 to Rhea tonight but it was a close game for 3 quarters. Then them playing 15 players kinda wore Hixson down. Btw, S. Pittsburg had a 30 point lead at half time in the first varsity game for alot of freshmen so to lose the game by 30 was pretty good. It may not be this year but I'll assure you it will not be the same Hixson.

Only ignorant coaches with superior athletes would run it a fundamentally sound defensive team with good athletes will beat it and there are really not any high school teams with that kinda athletes against championship caliber teams. If you need an example please look at the tape from UT vs. Memphis the last 2 years. 5 high school players that play as a team with good fundamentals beat any of the wow look what I half-way learned gimick offences

If CSAS had 8 players still competing for a state championship in football it may be a different story. Who expected hixson to beat S. Pittsburg by 62 same story.

Here straight from the TSSAA 2008-2009 handbook if anyone wants to push the issue. Q. Can a school?€™s junior varsity team participate against another school?€™s varsity team? A. No. A game is either a varsity game for both teams, a junior varsity game for both teams, or a scrimmage for both teams. An exception may be made by the Executive Director when a school is beginning an athletic program. That game may have been considered a scrimmage however.

Look Baylor (even though my brother graduated 10 years ago) is not my team I'm pulling for but they do in fact have Cleveland listed as their hall of fame game and was my bad sequatchie is playing cleveland hopefully the JV. Good luck to all of you, we have our own battles to fight.

That may be so, but seeing them beat Cleveland at camp this summer then a couple of scrimmages, they seem to be a very solid team. I'm not a fan just stating the facts I observed. I believe this is the fourth year with their coach and he is very good from what I hear.

They have 5 seniors starting that have been together since they were freshmen. I don't think they will lose much this year.

Well Hixson has played in play day at ER and scrimmaged Signal Mountain and Baylor. Haven't won any yet but it won't be the same Hixson team as the last 4 years.

Dunno if anyone has played or seen Baylor this year. They are not the best athletes I have ever seen, but they are one of the best high school teams I have seen as far as execution and discipline. They have a tough schedule so they will be tested. They play their offense and defense like machines.
