  1. Regardless of the rankings, regardless of the records...Shelbyville is still the defending AAA State Champs, and until they have been knocked out of the tournament they will be one of the favorites and have just as good of a chance to win it as anyone else. Every game that Shelbyville lost could have easily went the other way. Scchllball, tell me more about the distraction because of the two players getting well deserved recognition. If your team had two players of that caliber would you tell the recruiting services, USA today or any other media outlets to stop mentioning the players? Have you talked to some of the other players, coaches, or even the two players. Have you seen Shelbyville play this year?
  2. BearsVoice, Can you please explain the concept of basketball and the Insell and Fuller hype, since you obviously have inside information.?
  3. 23s mom,85, 90 and the rest of the Shelbyville haters, You do what you want for your kids(staying in your town), and let the other parents do what they want for theirs(moving to Shelbyville). Its really none of your business, so dont be bothered by it. I dont hear the parents of the Shelbyville players coming on here questioning why your daughter plays for White County, Mt. Juliet, Wilson Central etc. Live by this rule and your life will be peaceful even while Shelbyville is winning their championships...
  4. The schedule they have played would have given any team in the state trouble(14 games in 28 days, and against top teams). I commend Shelbyville for not running away from the competition. It makes the team better when post season play starts and it is also more entertaining than the 50 pt blowouts against less talented teams. Remember this is girls high school basketball...the BCS doesnt decide who plays in the championship, so who cares what the record is now. The season is all about who wins their last game of the season and only one team in each classification will be able to claim that. By the way-Shelbyville wasnt undefeated last year either...but they won their last game, and probably will again this year.
  5. Just dont get 4th or 2nd in the District Tournament, or your season will end in the Region Tournament.
  6. 90warrior you are always talking about other schools...what is White County going to do? The same thing they have done since Jolly left, nothing!!!
  7. 90warrrior and 85warrior must be envious of Shelbyville. Are they always on your mind? Considering the history, I wouldn't say too much about Shelbyville because as always they will probably get the last laugh in March.
  8. Hensley is the best player in AA, with Beechboard a close second!
  9. The game last year was never close and this year will be the same.
  10. davidlimbaugh, there are many individuals that win in track and field-but did the girls track team win the state? NO!!! Case closed, RHS is a football school and football school only!!! They choke in the other sports!!! Including baseball!!!
  11. Doesn't suprise me that Riverdale lost...RHS can only win state championships in football. They never win in any other sports.
  12. Ahmir Watkins is easily the best. Great bat, great speed, great knowledge of the game. He is not only the best lead off hitter-he is one of the best players in the state!!!
  13. Shelbyville beat the best of 7aaa just about every year in the region tournament...they would do the same during the season!!!
  14. Shelbyville will probably have a 40pt avg margin of victory.
  15. OS91, That is 6 AA teams combined records. That is hardly a large enough sample to base an opinion.
  16. I agree Postup. Who would win if AA played A? At first I thought AA, but now that OS91 has convinced me that there is no difference in the levels of competition in each class-as a whole I will have to go with A.
  17. Basically what you are saying is depth is involved in football. Its also involved in basketball. You are saying it yourself that the bigger schools usually have more depth...thats the case in all sports, girls basketball is no exception. You are contradicting yourself, because you have a biased opinion when it comes to girls basketball. That is ok, I understand.
  18. OS91, I am glad you wont debate it anymore...because all of your opinions i have ever read on this message board are biased. Just face it. I just wonder what you would be saying if your favorite was playing AAA. I just call it like I see it...AAA is stronger, and yes I have seen all of the girls play.
  19. Once again you did not read my post correctly. I didnt say Laura Hall can ONLY post great numbers against lesser competition. I am just saying, most of the time its a little bit easier for players to post amazing stats based on the competition-especially if the competition is not as tough across the board. Since you take everything personal I have to say about AA I will use Single A as an example. You have guys/girls in A that may put up amazing numbers-but if you move that player to AAA and lets say they play on a team like a Shelbyville who schedule is very tough year in and out, not to mention usually have at least 3 great players, the player will not look quite as dominant. As a fan if thats the level of ball you have been watching all year of course you are going to think its the best, but actually its not. You have guys playing single a football throwing 10 td passes in a game...it doesnt happen that often in 5a. Believe me there is a difference. My last point is, if the players on the AAA squad played in AA, in a AA region, AA district...we all would be amazed at the numbers they posted throughout their careers and there would be no argument!!!
  20. First, if you would read the post before you get upset because I think there are players that are better than your favorites, I said "most" of the girls in AA are mid-major talent, and "most" of the AAA are major D-1 talent. I know Rebecca Rowsey signed with Georgia. Thats great and I am happy for her. I know Cavin signed with Tech. That also, is great, great school along with a great basketball program. But, I have seen the girls play from the AAA All-State Team and I have seen the girls play from the AA All-State Team. AAA players are better. I am sure TN Tech would have loved to have had Shields. Most(there is that word again) of the time in all sports, teams in the higher classifications play against tougher competition throughout the season. Therefore, when you do have a player like Laura Hall, who is a very good player, its a little easier to dominate because schools in that classificatioin do not have as large of a talent pool because of the number of students. Thats where the averages take over. More students, more of a chance there is a pretty good player on every team. So I understand how you can think AA is better. I will bet there are people that think A is better than AA, but they are wrong.
  21. I just dont see how the AA would be able to match up with the strength, quickness and athletic ability of the AAA. If Fuller, Newman, Frazier, and Horton played a AA schedule they each would avg 30pts and 10 rebounds a game. If Shields would have played a AA schedule she would have averaged 50pts a game this year. Overall the level of competition that the AA teams are playing make people think the AA girls are better. They are not. Especially the group of girls listed. Most of the girls on the AAA All-State team are High Major D-1 players. Most of the AA All-State team are Mid-Major D-1 players.
  22. Well lets just look at it this way...the AA Champion was beaten by the AAA Champion twice this year. Yes Shelbyville won a close one(by 3) their 1st game of the season. But the game in February was ugly. Shelbyville by 22, and that was with the starters out early in the second half. As a whole AAA is better.
