McCallie wont even take the east. Webb returns 4 pitchers with state tournament wins last year (3 of them complete games) and have more offense than they did a year ago... ECS and Christian Brothers will have better teams than McCallie from the West and BGA is probably better than McCallie from the middle...
  2. They lost three starters (Gosselin, Bibee, KImmons) but they will still be very good... AJ Kirby got hurt at the beginning of the season last year and was the three hitter when he was playing. They have four pitchers that got wins in the state tournament last year so they should be very good again this year
  3. 2006 Division II Boys All-Tournament Team Jordan Hobbs - McCallie Mariun Price - Harding Academy J.T. Blair - Knoxville Webb Ron Anderson - McCallie Caldy Cunningham - ECS Joshua Bone - Brentwood Academy Andy Johnson - ECS Tim Johnson - ECS John Garrett - Brentwood Academy (MVP)Brandon Wright - Brentwood Academy
  4. Hobbs was hot early which was good because dozier was in foul trouble for almost the whole game... with dozier out McCallie struggled at times with the press and Dozier could not really get in the flow until late. The Johnson boys carried ECS who pounded and pounded inside all night to them and in the end McCallie was not able to hit the shots. It was a very good game though for any basketball fan.
  5. Halls has more tham exceeded expectations and i dont know if overrated is the right word term exactly... they do deserve recognition for winning games with really no size or (besides Cameron) talent. It is easy to say a team is overrated just because they dont have "the best players". But Halls is playing defense for the first time in a while and that is putting them in situations to win. I dont really know much about their schedule, but I seen them play twice and they are a pretty good team from what I can tell Beardan/FArragut would have been a better game to watch and should be shown ahead of any other matchup in town, but I dont Bearden is the real thing, they have barely been winning...but they have been winning and really thats all that matters...
  6. I dont really see how someone can say that Catholic gets NO respect, They get alot of face time in the paper in football and basketball... but can see where the argument can be made. It comes with being a private school. Another reason why it appear as if there is no respect is that Catholic plays teams in Kentucky and in the past others teams just outside of Knoxville. So that means the average fan that doesn't go watch anyone beside their own school is not going to know much about Catholic basketball. Catholic wins... that's all there is to it... They dont have depth or an abundance of talent... but they win. The ignorant and arrogant fans such blueandwhitetribe opinions dont matter. And by the way there is a whole lot more to being a good basketball player besides being physically athletic and shooting well. Matt Parton is a winner and a competitor. He works hard on the court off the court and he knows his role. He is a true point guard (a distributer), but this year his team has needed him to score, and guess what? He's done it. bEau Brown is quite a talent, but he might be the most selfish player in the prep xtra area, he doesn't play much defense, has little basketball knowledge, it seems like he just wants his points because of how many shots he takes(many of them bad). You may not like the way Catholic plays, but they play like they have to to win... I HATE Catholic but they have my respect but I am kind of sick of people saying they dont have any. There are several more teams that have less respect than Catholic in the Knoxville area
  7. P.S. I am temporarily using a friends account because of the possibility that you may have been blocking mine. pat
  8. Coach T I am truly sorry for whatever grief I may have caused you and the rest of the web site users. But I do not take back some of the stuff I said. Blair Reath is the best wrestler in the state in my mind. If you want to censor my opinions then that would mean this site is a joke. I should be able to come to my computer and be protected by the 1st amendment laid out many years ago. If you choose to keep on censoring my thoughts and views about a subject I will have to take my comments to some other web site. I hope we can resolve this issues so you can continue to carry out the respectable name of Coach T with dignity and honor. Your Friend, PAT
  9. if it was 0-9 then that would have meant that Webb played Catholic 10 times in three years... 02-03-Webb wins first one loses second one and gets put out by ND in the playoffs 03-04- Lost twice in regular season, then in the playoffs 04-05- Lost two close ones regular season, then lost to Baylor by two in the playoffs So its six, but it feels like 9
  10. 0-6 since, but the point is that Webb hasnt won since then... Catholic shouldnt have much trouble in their district and I dont really see them losing. Catholic is still searching for an identity. With Connor and Thames(who was underrated in his importance to the team last year) gone people are having to fill roles that they usually arent in. Parton is a true point guard and his main job has been to distribute. He can score but when someone box and ones him like CAK, then someone else will have to step up. Brown is an excellent defender and rebounder, but he has never really been a scorer, same with Harrison Smith. The sophomore,Walden i think is his name has shown sign of being able to score, but they need it on a more consistent basis. Catholic will only get better as the year goes on... Webb is a senior heavy team with experience and they play well together and have beaten some pretty good teams handily... Both teams are different in comparison to their last year's teams... Scheduling and history in the rivalry games have nothing to do with how the outcome could be this year. I would not sleep on the Spartans, besides friday, their next few games could show what kind of team they could be and whether or not they can beat Catholic this year.
  11. Not true.... Webb won the first game vs. catholic with daniels as the coach...but they havent won since then...and I dont know how you can knock on Webb's scheduling, Catholic usually plays monterey and other weak teams like that... Webb has a tough schedule (Bearden, Powell, Fulton, Farragut, AE, Greenville twice) and add West they are much better than their record would show... And definately dont know who at Webb is bragging about winning those because there is definately an understanding that nothing has been accomplished yet
  12. Can't really go wrong with any of them... In the past Dye and White have had more help around them, whereas Camron hasn't really had that much talent around him. They all are very good scorers and passers. Tony has a tendency to to get out of control but he does a lot on the defensive end, and his shot is much improved since his sophomore season. Camron is a prolific scorer and seems to get in the lane with ease. I dont think he is as good of a ballhandler as White or Dye. I would probably say Dye is the better of the three because he seems to have complete control of the game and I haven't really noticed many bad things about him. I think he is underrated and he is showing more and more signs of his older brother Dedrick. Like I said...cant go wrong with any of them
  13. There is a big crowd expected at this game and there is a whole lot of hype. Webb will take this one because of experience. They have an all senior backfield on offense and most of their defense are seniors as well. In rivalry games or big games in general experience is key. Webb has a considerable amount more team speed than that of Catholic, and they defense-especially the secondary, is much improved from last year. As for the passing game...Webb's passing game is much improved. They still do not throw a whole lot, but they throw just enough to open up their run game more. Catholic better respect the pass or else they will get beat by a deep ball or two for TD's. I really would not be surprised to see Webb blow them out...but we'll have to wait and see until Friday night.
