  1. This is ridiculous. You don't have to compare the teams by scores (which, in fact, favor Catholic). All you have to do is watch both of them play on any given friday. I've seen Webb twice and Catholic three times. Catholic has looked consistently better (more depth, more speed, more talent). Webb is slower, they have maybe one or two guys on their team that could have a shot at tackling McFadden in the open field, and one of them is a freshman. Catholic will roll over Webb by 3 touchdowns. Mark it down fellas.
  2. Catholic by three touchdowns over Webb. Webb is so slowwwwww man. Catholic is so much better than Webb JimBobCooter. You need to watch both teams play and you will see what I am talking about man. JPII will lose to Catholic 9 times out of ten no matter what the conditions. Oh yeah, and McFadden is better than Ryan Walker. Oh, and there is more than a chance that Webb will lose to Alcoa. They will undoubtedly lose to Alcoa.
  3. McCallie vs. Ooltewah would be a good game. You can proclaim your team as the best in Chattanooga, just don't expect everyone to agree with you, Sergeant Owl.
  4. fellas, fellas, football is a way to shape young men all across this nation, I agree totally. but the fact of the matter is, bishop byrne played the entire game until regulation ended. they may have been tied, and unless there is forfeiture they have to continue, but the coach would rather not risk any more injury to his players or to their psyche. now after putting that i realize i will get replies of quitting is more harmful to a psyche anyway, but honestly, the kids don't seem that bothered by it, so why should we be? if anything, the coach should be reprimanded by his principal, but I don't believe in firing a coach over something like that. also, to the guy who wondered about california stars and if i was a moron, buddy, it's a song by Woody Guthrie. did you notice the signature line on my posts? how could you think californiastars is an oxymoron. to my knowledge, they are not opposites. i don't think they really have anything to do with each other. did you just put that to set up your moron joke? because that was just weak.
  5. I was at the game my man. Catholic would have beat you guys soundly had it not been a monsoon. You should have been happy with the result. You match up with Webb better because there aren't as many guys with wheels on Webb's D like there is on Catholic's. Tate should have a big game. You had eight turnovers in that game? It seemed like you didn't have that many. Man, hold on to the football JPII!
  6. Webb should beat JPII. Actually, I don't know, this is going to be a great game. JPII couldn't really match up with Catholic, but they match up a lot better with Webb. It will be a 7-point, if not lower, game. I am going with Webb by 4. Webb 28 JPII 24
  7. Oh god, give me a break. , the coach for byrne made a decision to not keep playing a game. so from here on out that win for bga will go down with an asterisk next to it. he tied them in regulation. he didn't want to risk injury or a loss. you football guys may not know this, but once, only a few years back, college teams tied. What you say? There was no winner? That's right, gentlemen, no one wins. Ties are common in soccer and other sports also. The Byrne coach can take this phantom "loss" and point to it as a great game against BGA, a team they usually can't stay on the same field with. So as you ultra-competitive, I-ain't-a-quitter-and-neither-is-my-football-team chuckleheads argue over whether this football coach should be fired or not, remember that no one in the real world really cares about the actions of a high school coach concerning a game between two teams who are going no where this season.
  8. I apologize for the lack of literate people on this board papatj. If you have any more problems with the grammar, please call 1-800-NoOneLikesAJerkWhoConstantlyNagsAboutGrammarLikeA74YearOldNunTeachingEnglishToFifthGraders. You are clearly the most intelligent person I have run across on this board. Please, by all means, correct me if I have in any way made a grammatical error that you find most amazing..........Dork.
  9. Dude, Catholic doesn't circle anyone on their regular season schedule, I would presume. I think they only care about the playoffs. They have just rolled through their regular season schedule the past couple of years. The game Catholic has circled is the state championship, and I am pretty confident that they'll get there.
  10. 1A Boyd 2A Alcoa 3A AE 4A Maryville or Central 5A DB or Oak Ridge DII-AA Knox Catholic or Webb DII-AAA McCallie That would make every champion in East TN, except DII-A and I really don't know the contenders. Could be a great season for the East.
  11. It was funny, and that's all the guys are trying to point out. No need to lash back, REBELRON. We all know Carl's story thanks to you guys drilling it in our heads. But it was still funny to say Alcoa. I just pictured a mAryville guy sitting at his house, throwing down his remote and downing a beer real quick. Haha. It still makes me laugh.
  12. CPA has more talent than most 5A schools, no matter what anyone else puts down. They could and would compete in the Super Seven, as well. People say lack of depth, but have they seen CPA's team? Hold judgement until you have seen this special, deep group in action. One of the better teams in the state, in my opinion. There's not many teams that will give Riverdale a better game.
  13. McCallie has to be recognized, as well as Baylor. The nicest fields I ever played on were against McCallie, and they are successful in most, if not all, sports, and I know they are great academically. Knoxville Catholic has great facilities, a sports program that gets better every year, and some of the smartest kids in Knoxville. They send numerous kids to schools such as Northwestern, Notre Dame, Boston College, Furman, Duke, etc. Webb is also a very successful school in all phases, especially academically and facilities-wise.
  14. Oh I thought Catholic had lost. Well good for Catholic, they just keep rolling along. I'm sure Webb isn't as jazzed to play the Irish after seeing a score like that, and after they see what KCHS is going to do to BGA. I am predictiong 50+ points for the Catholic O in that one. They have no defense at all.
  15. Webb will lose to Catholic. As long as we have Pemberton, we win, Webb, sorry. They will be undefeated and make it to the state finals against an incredible Briarcrest team who could beat just about any team in the Knoxville area. Then we will really see if Catholic is for real. All I know is that they have a better defense than Webb after watching both teams, and the best player in running back Nick McFadden, as well as the better coach. We will have to wait and see what happens, but I am predicting Catholic makes Webb look pretty horrible when they meet Oct. 30 or 31 or whenever it is. I don't know if Webb is even the best team on Catholic's schedule.
  16. Catholic did make it to the state finals last year in DII-AA, but I don't think they circle Webb as the game of the season anymore. They have gotten over that mental hurdle of losing to Webb by beating them the past two or three times they have played. But it is still a huge rivalry in the Knoxville area. I think Webb will surprise and keep it closer than most think, but in the end, McCallie is just too good for the Spartans. McCallie 34 Webb 21
  17. They dominate 90% of the teams in soccer as well. Privates own spring sports.
  18. So you honestly believe a school like Knoxville Catholic is out for a profit? The tuition is for these schools to pay for things that public schools get from the government, and no, they don't just simply pack up and move when there is a lack of profit. Unless you have first hand experience at a private school, I don't expect you to understand what goes into making a private school (or in Catholic and CAK's case, parochial school) the "entity" that it is. Knoxville Catholic is a representative of the Catholic community of the greater Knoxville area. They represent much more of a community than any public school to my knowledge. You go to a Catholic church around Knoxville and ask a child who the football team is that they root for on Friday, and 9 times out of 10 they will tell you Catholic. The question of lack of motivation for not representing a particular community is moot at this point. The only question I have is privates like Catholic the exception or the rule? You obviously might think exception, but I'd like to think that privates are kept alive because of the continuing legacies at these schools. My family has been attending Knoxville Catholic since its inception in the 1920's, and I don't expect it to change anytime soon, as I have a brother in the freshman class and two cousins in the school as well. Now, I assume your family has attended one public school your entire life and feel that it is unfair for these privates to take kids away from your precious community. Get over it. I guarantee private schools are not out to make profits off a children, in fact, I believe Knoxville Catholic LOST money this past year. Your community will never worry about that, because if you do in fact have kids in your community that attend privates, they will be paying the same taxes as you to keep them up and running, regardless of where they attend. Again, get over it.
  19. Are you an idiot? I mean seriously, just pull up stakes and move to Memphis? Do you think privates just travel from city to city in Tennessee, picking up kids? You live in a fantasy world my friend. Webb and Knoxville Catholic, in the Knoxville area, get kids that live in Knoxville. They don't recruit or whatever you think they do. Anyway, enough of this, here is my top 10 in ET: 1. Kingsport D-B 2. Maryville 3. McCallie 4. A-E 5. Oak Ridge 6. Central 7. Knox Catholic 8. Jeff County 9. Ooltewah 10. Fulton I had a hard time with the last few, but Catholic is an up and coming power with Pemberton at coach. He's done so much with that program it's ridiculous. The most talented Catholic team I have ever seen was in 1998, with Coach Mark Chait. They threw the ball everywhere that season and went 10-2, with a loss coming in the first round of the playoffs to SBEC. If Pemberton had that group, they would have won every single game that year and gotten Catholic it's first team state championship. Alas, it wasn't meant to be... Also, D-B is sick this year, with one of the best offenses in the state. Too bad they will lose to Riverdale.
  20. Yeah, he's a good ball player, but with Riggs Larkins Houston and Davis, there is really no reason we need him. David Yancey will take over along with Riggs next year for UT, and hopefully we'll get some more recruits this year with Coker, who lacks Stewart's power game but more than makes up for it with his incredible speed. I believe Houston and Larkins have lived up to the hype, but Riggs and Davis were supposed to have All-American ability coming out of high school. UT will never lack for a solid running back though, I guarantee that.
  21. Nick McFadden at Knoxville Catholic. I think he has scored at least three touchdowns in every game this year. Last week, he had 157 yards on SIX carries, along with 4 touchdowns and another touchdown on a punt return. He will be a leading candidate for PrepXtra player of the year, but will probably lose to somebody like Cade Thompson at Maryville or Helton at Central or Gulmire at Oak Ridge, but he could win it next year.
  22. The Titans probably, but I'd give a slight edge to Riverdale against the Vols. 3 1/2 point favorite or something like that. In all honesty, McCallie would be a good test, as well as Maryville, Dobyns Bennett, and Oak Ridge. We'll just have to wait and see how the season plays out and if Riverdale will match up against DB or OR in the playoffs.
  23. very true, very true, but if its just a friendly game of NCAA, I would love to play you! I enjoy the game very much. it is a lot of fun. yes, you are right about the steamrolling part. I am eating my vitamins and vegetables every day, though. I'll get bigger, one day.....
