  1. If these boys will dig deep inside and start playing like they were three games into the season, this game will be interesting. If we play like we did against Gleason, it's going to be a long night. We are a very thin team. We have at least a couple of starters that will see limited play time tomorrow night. I don't think Cherry or McConnell will be anywhere near 100% tomorrow night. The long snapper Clark is also out for the season with some sort of injury. Whatever happens tomorrow night, it has been a good season for the Redmen. For you people who made fun of us for being 6-0 against a "powderpuff schedule," we're still proud of our boys. We have had basically the same schedule for four years. In the three previous years, we won four games all together and one of those was by forfeit. Maybe to you they are powderpuff but to us this was progress and confidence building. South Fulton is lucky to have Coach Spivey and Coach Knott. I just wish we could have gotten them four years ago.
  2. Oh how the mighty have fallen. Two weeks ago, we were the talk of the town. Come on BIG RED. This is a big game. SF by a touchdown.
  3. What does everyone think? /popcorneater.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":popcorneater:" border="0" alt="popcorneater.gif" />
  4. Forgive my abrasiveness, but uniforms are the least of my concerns. I'm pretty sure uniforms have never won a ballgame. WE have a lot of work to do at SF....uniforms have got to be a low priority.
  5. Lake County looked like a very good football team. To quote the Coach from this morning, "They are peaking at the right time." Our O and D line got whipped all over the field last night. We played with zero emotion. Not sure what is going on with these guys. SF forced UC to punt last week a few times and moved the ball okay. I don't think LC ever punted last night. And we never seriously threatened to score. I can't imagine LC losing to anyone the way they played last night. Time for Coach Spivey to circle the wagons and get ready for Gleason.
  6. mrbigster, you seriously need to chill out. This is just a ballgame. If I didn't know better, I'd think you were worried about lil ole no count South Fulton. Seriously what would you need our offensive playbook for? We didn't beat Bruceton and West Carroll as handily as Lake Co. All of our wins have been against cupcakes. We're no stinkin good. /roflolk.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":roflolk:" border="0" alt="roflolk.gif" />
  7. Congratulations to Union City. We knew beating you all was a long shot. Colton Speed is an excellent athlete. To whoever is bragging about this UC team being better than the 05-06, I sure don't see it. Maybe this year's team is better coached...but that 05 team was tremendous. I was very proud of our guys tonight. The game was a little closer than the score reflects. Time to circle the wagons and get ready for Lake County.
  8. We parents have known this since last spring. No doubt we will miss the two guys. But we are not a one man team(or two man). Whoever posted that this isn't really a school trip is correct. There are more parents and community members going than students. It's not like it's Beta Club or Civics or whatever. It's just a trip that the librarian organized. It's not a once in a lifetime thing. You only play your senior year once. Then you have the rest of your life to be a globetrotter. I have a big problem with this trip. In the past our former coach had no rules and the only thing the guys missed was a humiliating loss. Times have changed though.
  9. SF fans have heavy hearts with the passing of Coach Akers. He was the offensive coordinator during SF's glory days in the last 70's and early 80's. My God comfort the Akers family during this time.
  10. Just for the heck of it UC fans, is it okay with you all if we go ahead of play the game. Give you a chance to show of your superiority. /roflolk.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":roflolk:" border="0" alt="roflolk.gif" /> Is SF the underdog? CAN SF pull off the upset? The answer is yes to both. Will SF pull off the upset? We'll find out Friday night.
  11. Best advice I can give everyone is get there early. It will be standing room only. In the fall of 2005, we played Fulton City on a Saturday night to dedicate our new facilities. The crowd and atmosphere was phenomenal then. Can't imagine what Friday night will be like. Purple and Gold, the quality of officiating has sunk to all time lows this year. Friday night's game with Greenfield was one of the worst officiated games I have seen in recent years. Butchie, there are people at our games that haven't been in years. For the past four years, we have fielded teams that only parents could stand to watch. The boys are very appreciative of everything the parents, fans and cheerleaders have done. This is a group of boys that is taking nothing for granted. They also As Spivey said yesterday, we are a big underdog in this game. South Fulton is capable of winning this game. They may not but just having the ability to shows how far we have come under Coach Spivey. There is no coach in Tennessee more deserving of the Titan Coach of the year than Spivey. He's a fine Christian man that has literally worked miracles with these boys.
  12. Our thoughts are prayers are with the Coach Kennedy and his family.
  13. When Coach Spivey was hired in December, I felt his biggest obstacle was teaching these boys how to win. The juniors and seniors had absolutely no self confidence on the field. They are a fantastic group of guys but they had been humiliated so many times, I thought it would take most of the season to make them believe in themselves. Spivey has worked miracles. It's nothing short of amazing how much these guys believe now. Don't take it as "woofin" but these juniors and seniors aren't planning to lose a game. /thumb[1].gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":thumb:" border="0" alt="thumb[1].gif" />
  14. Devil Alumni, HRB scored 62 points on SF in 2006. Saying that was an ugly game would be a great understatement. In 2004 SF was 4-0 and then went on to lose the rest of the games. However, it is a new day in South Fulton. GO BIG RED!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
  15. I'm slightly concerned that the off week might have dampened momentum a bit. After being told by the former regime that they had no heart and talent, this schedule has been perfect for them. These guys needed confidence. Now that they have won 3 and a realistic shot at being 4-0, they now BELIEVE. I think Coach said SF hasn't won at Bruceton in 11 years. I'm a little nervous but hopefully the Big Red Machine will keep on rolling.
  16. I think you are out of line referring higher Administration officials in OC need more morals. That is uncalled for. Seriously what do you Rebel parents and fans want specifically?
  17. SHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH Between this and Channel 6 sports, you all are going to jinx us /roflol.gif" style="vertical-align:middle" emoid=":roflol:" border="0" alt="roflol.gif" /> I am so proud of this football team. I can't say enough good about Coach Spivey. GO BIG RED
  18. South Fulton did exactly what it needed to do Friday night. They won a region game. Hasn't been done since the seniors were freshmen. It's a huge monkey off the coachs, players and fans back. It's not easy to learn how to win. The biggest challenge Spivey faced coming to SF was teaching the boys to believe they can win. This team is going to continue to get better and better. Coach Spivey gave the boys a B+ for their offense and C- for their defense. I'd say that is accurate. The defense didn't look as sharp as it did at Waverly but the offense looked better. Devils117, I thought the game was far from sloppy. Only two penalties, one fumble. It was a pretty good first game.
  19. Coach Spivey consistently had one of the top defenses in the state at Lewis Co. Give him a little time with these guys. His pass coverage defense is much more complicated than anything SF has ever run. Once the boys get some experience, it will be fine.
  20. LOL....People who live in glass houses shouldn't throw stones.
  21. West Caroll has a new coach. No idea if they will change their offense from years past. The Red Men can't take anything for granted. They need to play hard every down. If we do, we should come out on top Friday night.
  22. I've talked to a lot of parents and heard virtually no complaints. All of us are excited about how hard they are working. Spivey is a very impressive person. It's a crime though that SF's football program was allowed to spiral out of control under Wood. UNDER WOOD WE HAD NO WEIGHT LIFTING PROGRAM, 2 HOUR PRACTICES, NO FUNDAMENTAL WORK, NADA NOTHING New coach, new offense, new defense.........everything is new. Spivey is great but I don't think he can work miracles. Hopefully we can at least begin a foundation for a successful football program. SF's first test is tomorrow. They have a three way scrimmage tomorrow in Waverly with Perry County attending as well.
  23. It's not the play calling that was Wood's demise. It was lack of work ethic. No weight program. I don't want anyone telling me we have a weight program. I have a son on the team. A few dedicated boys lifting isn't a weight program. It has to be mandatory. SF started practice this fall a full week after we were allowed to because Wood had vacation scheduled. So SF started one practice a day a full week after everyone else started TWO A DAYS. When athletes go home upset because there is no discipline, obviously there are problems. I wish Coach Wood well but he long outlived his welcome at South Fulton.
