  1. I came down and watched centerville last year against waverly and don't think it would be in his best interest to move with the players he has returning. There may be a move but not to east I wouldn't think.
  2. Oh man, I was good friends with coach and he and I bantered back and forth every saturday. If you didn't know us you'd think we were fighting. He did a good job, but should have gone to Alcoa. He always said that the offensive coord. in Huntingdon is the dumbest man in carroll coutny.
  3. Ditto. It was good to us for a long time. But diff. coaches have different philosophies.
  4. no way Huntingdon should have lost this game.
  5. Oh, and i'll add another thing. If Huntingdon can't match the physical play of Milan in the trenches you'll know it early. Milans noseguard absolutely destroyed us the last game. We just beat them with the big play. Its still milan and i figure its getting about time for them to rise back up. Just hope its not this year.
  6. I was sitting in my house the other night thinking of how similar this is to 98. Huntingdon was the better team that year I have no doubt, but Milan was on a roll and a mission. It was also the quarterfinals if i'm not mistaken. But since that night Huntingdon has righted alot of wrongs with Milan. I'll stick to my original prediction of huntingdon and predict also you see the re-emergence of boo weathers on offense. It'll be a college like atmosphere and we'll see what kind of pressure the coaches and players can handle. One play either way could make the difference.
  7. I think with both teams you dare them to throw the ball. Both can but neither wants too. Both would be perfectly content with running all night, good ole west tn. football. I'm very excited about this re-match. I don't expect a high scoring affair but rather a test of wills and nerve. Turnovers will be huge as usual. Personally I think Morris outcoached himself the last two times they've played. It killed him both times. Here's hoping the refs stand back and let them fight it out like men should.
  8. Chris Donald has absolutely owned milan in the last 2 semifinals. What will Milan do to make someone else beat them? I'd hafta think that they'd try and make boo beat them (i know that sounds crazy) with his bad ankles and with the fact he hasn't made too much noise in a couple of weeks. If they can do that then Huntingdon may be in trouble. Whoever runs the ball best in this game will win. Milan is more grind it out smash mouth than Huntingdon. H-town is more finesse this year due to a young off. line i'm sure. If Milan controls the trences it would be bad. Its time for the young pups to buck up. This will be their toughest test yet.
  9. This game is going to be a classic. Carver was good but ....its still memphis 2A football, not quite the same as milan. I felt Huntingdon probably should have lost the first game against milan. Right now Milan is feeling pretty invincible i'm sure but with the game being played at Huntingdon i'll say the stangs win in OT. How healthy are the teams and for what its worth I wish you people would quit acting all sissyish about the band
  10. Huntingdon hasn't had a player go D1 in a very, very, very ,very long time. Losing half the student body is not, I repeat, not the big deal. Getting down to 2A is a big deal especially in the region Lewis Co. is in. I'm betting my money on Hickman Co. because I remember what they did in the 80's when they squared off against similar schools. And by the way. The situation at lewis co. was pretty bad when sharp took over.
  11. No, i've seen Lewis Co. for years now and know that any team in that area has to have similar type athletes. Lewis Co. has just been better organized from the top down. That region will be slow versus slower and with similar athletes at every school then it boils down to coaching. Hickman Co. has already shown an edge in that dept. and there is no arguing that.
  12. Your assumption that it really matters what thejv and freshman teams do has no validation here either. I remember years when our junior high destroyed milan only to lose in high school several times. Maybe Lewis co. has a better freshman program and junior high program than Hickman co. currently has. That can change. When the division of the school takes place Hickman Co. will have more kids in school than lewis co. I bet, thus more athletes to choose from. It doesn't matter how they drop in my opinion. They'll need half the athletes to be competitive in a 2A region, especially 6-2A
  13. I strongly disagree with you on this one. I've talked to Coach Swenson and he feels very confident that when they drop to 2A they will be more than competitive. Having heard the shape the program was in i'd say they are off to a good start having already beaten two 2A teams and beating stratford and shelbyville in their region. More than one coach has made the comment of what a trunaround they've had down there. He'll get kids out and will push the mess out of them in the weight room. My prediction is that if they get put in Lewis co. region in 07 they will consistently challenge for the top spot every year. It'll take him one more year to get everything in sync then the payoff will come. I'm guessing he'll have just as many if not more athletes than lewis co. every year and once their kids get glued into the system they'll win. Right now everybody that loses to them tries to make excuses because no one wants to be the team that loses to Hickman Co. and I find that very funny. You'd best get use to it i'd say.
  14. go to georgia and count the number who've won the state running the wingt at all levels then check back with me.
  15. I'd put Huntingdon right there with anybody in the wing t. They adjust their players to the offense.
  16. I kinda liked the run, run, run, run, run, run, pass thing. We used to always say we run to set up the run and I believe we'll do the same thing this week. Huntingdon wins by 7.
  17. I wouldn't count the old ball coach out just yet. You never know what may transpire. Its called coaching and outcoaching.
  18. holy crap! Thats got to be a big win for the program! Good job Coach!
  19. Yep, old dad got your goat didn't he. All in good fun brother man.
  20. I don't know how Huntingdon would do against you guys this year but you couldn't hold our jock the last two years and yes we'd probably win your region this year regardless. Metro Nashville schools are loaded with speed, have no discipline, no kicking game, avg coaching, and don't bring any fans to their games (just in case I forgot to tell you before) How many ineligible players would you say are on Maplewood and Hillsboros teams combined right now?
  21. Maplewood is a typical inner city school. Zero discipline, a bunch of athletes, avg coaching and never can get to the big show, oh, and I forgot..... no kicking game. You might win but I sure like seeing teams like yours lose. You might not like the way I talk but its called ENGLISH, straight from the mean steets of Huntingdon. Truth that bigs.
  22. turnarounds don't happen in one year, but beating a team like lewis co. is a pretty darn good start. I'll say they will win, and win big within 2 yrs IMO.
  23. Welcome to smash mouth football, West tn. style. I've been to many a game in Huntingdon where Coach Swenson was airing it out if he threw it five times. We used to say he got the passing over with in pregame Simple but somehow effective.
  24. Great job coach, i''m speechless for the first time. thumb
  25. No, I didn't say they wouldn't have any holes to run through but you don't know much football if you think its just gonna happen with a soph. dominated o-line. They'll try and stick with their old offensive philosophy but don't be surprised if things are a little bumpy at first, and don't get so defensive and you won't get to bad dissapointed when it happens. We'll still be darn good, and the line won't have to be great anyway.
