  1. Thanks a lot 1st. I'm sure the kid is down pretty bad. Senior season, senior night, against the biggest rival. Hopefully he can help young franklin out and maybe coach him up. And i hope that the rest of the panthers will rally around the young freshman signal caller. Best of luck to the Rebs the rest of the season as well.
  2. Cosby and CG scrimmaged each other for about 3 years in a row before scheduling each other this season. The scrimmages were always very competitive. I think the game will be very close regardless of who's at QB for CG. I know shipley is a great player but I hear the young QB is pretty talented , and you guys are fairly big up front. We have the ability to be pretty good but we are very young this year. I say Cosby 21 Gap 7 Yeah we are fairly big up front. And CG is very young this year as well. Especially now! What is Cosby like up front?
  3. Seems like CG is limping to the finish line this year. Does anyone have a report on CG's qb Shipley? He was injured friday vs. claiborne and returned, but was obviously hobbled. If he can't go, i guess we will get to see what the future holds at qb with freshman blake franklin takin over. I thought the kid came in and played great in a pressure situation on friday. I don't know much about Cosby. I think CG has played them in some scrimmages in the past. Any insight from cosby fans or anyone they've played would be greatly appreciated. No clue how the playoff situation will work. I know CG has 2nd in 3A pretty much locked up in the district with west beating south on friday. What a year for the panthers. One thing after the next...but they still seem to play hard and overcome. Hang in guys. Finish strong! CG - 30 (with Shipley at qb) 20 (with Franklin at qb) Cosby - 14 Go Panthers!
  4. If claiborne overlooks SG...@ SG...then they will lose. It's darn near impossible to win up there. So for the dogs...you better be focused on the rebs and not the devils....cuz if you do...you will be 7-2 going into the G'ville game. Good luck to both and hope for a hard fought injury free game.
  5. Grainger is down...Devils aren't....G'ville by 30 +. Good luck to both and hope for a hard fought injury free game.
  6. Not that it really matters but Claiborne is 7-1 only loss was to Gibbs 38-36 on a blocked punt with less than one minute remaining in the game. In all games they are averaging 33, and allowing 13 an average victory margin of 20 ppg. In conference they are averaging 27 and allowing 11 an average victory margin of 16 ppg....wich is a little more than 5 for what its worth. That being said I have seen Greenville play for many years as a member of the IMAC....they have no rival in the conference they are now in....if Claiborne stays within 3-4TD's when they play the Devils they will have played as well as they are capable of IMHO. Bigdaddy you are exactly right. Having seen both play, there is no way claiborne will be able to run the ball. If they score against greeneville it will have to be through the air, and that's just not their forte. Greeneville will win, win big, and be conference champions. Not like that's any big surprise this year. And they better fix their defense as well or greeneville will put 60 on them. Just my opinion though. Good luck to both.
  7. I would say as good as greeneville's run defense is...greeneville will win by 20+. Claiborne's not bad, but they're not even close to greeneville's caliber.
  8. Very good ballgame by both teams. Exactly what a rivalry should be. I just hate that CG was on the losing end this time. Congrats to Claiborne. Good luck the rest of the year. CG keep your heads up...you fought hard. You just can't come out so sluggish in the first quarter against a good team. After the 1st, i felt CG really dominated the game. You just can't spot a team 20 pts before you decide to play. I hope Shipley is ok. He went down with an ankle injury it appeared. Gutsy to come back and play while he was in some obvious major pain. I thought our freshman qb blake franklin came in and did an outstanding job. Soph joe jenkins had yet another outstanding game. What a catch he made! Anyway...keep on fightin panthers. 2 games left and you need them both to keep playoff hopes alive. You guys can do it though!!
  9. Well...it doesn't really matter how either team played last week. When it comes to this game...you throw everything out the window. The field conditions should play in the hands of the panthers...and if last week was any indication and with all this week's rain...its gonna be nasty. I'm hangin with CG this week to pull out the river rivalry! CG - 24 Claiborne - 14 Go Panthers!!!! Go get'em!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
  10. Why all the butt kissing for the Rebels? They don't need any help! This will be a great game. I wouldn't call it butt kissing...I call it CG needing SG to win to help out with CG's playoff chances. But i do agree with you, should be a great game.
  11. Thanks a lot gville 1. I hope our guys earned some respect last night. They played their butts off. Go G'ville the rest of the year! And go CG this week!
  12. I bet he feels stupid with Greeneville scoring 98 points combined in both games and only allowing 6 points by both teams Russo is on crack. He's picked some nutjob picks this year.
  13. Thanks for the compliments veerman. Unfortunately, sometimes the score is not a true indicator of the teams. I think you guys are on the right track, right now, maybe just a little young and too many going both ways. The second quarter has definitely been on our side this year. Great neck of the woods you're in and I think most of us enjoyed the trip up. Good luck the rest of the season. Thanks Gdevil. We do have several freshmen and sophs playin right now. And just a lot of inexperience. Hopefully we can gain some depth the next few years and hopefully be able to play up to the level of you guys in the next couple of years. Hope you got to eat some of the good food in town! We'll see you guys next year...good luck the rest of the year.
  14. Take away the 35 pt second qtr and its 19 -6!!!! lol No but seriously, very proud of how the Panthers played. They never quit and they played as hard as they could the whole game. The field was a mess and the delay was miserable! That was some wicked weather that rolled through! As g'ville 1 stated, CG was just outmanned, but the effort was there all night. The goaline stand and the scoring drive in the 1st qtr were very impressive imo for CG. But when you're playin the best in the conference, you can't turn it over and make mental mistakes. Greeneville...you guys have got a great team and a classy bunch of folks. Hope you enjoyed coming to our place. Best of luck to you guys the rest of the way. CG...this may have been the hardest i've seen you guys play this year. The score was up there...but this fan is still proud of ya. Keep on fightin and clawing and plugging away. You know who's comin to town next week!!!! GO PANTHERS!!!!!!!!!
  15. Looks like it's going to be yet another rainy friday night at CG. The field was kind of tore up from the middle school game played on it tuesday night in the rain from what ive heard. Looks like the boys will be playing in the mud tonight. I don't know bout the rest of you...but i'm tired of all this rain! I forgot what it's like to watch a game in the dry! lol
  16. Its always a good idea to have a healthy dose of respect of an unknown opponent. CG has had such an erratic season its hard to pigeon hole them. Trust me though, as soon as we know we can kick your butts, all those happy thoughts and well wishes will go right out the window. That's the barb i've grown to love! I've been waitin on it! lol These things are supposed to be fun, but sometimes people can get out of hand...and in the same respect, some people take these things too seriously! It's a sports message board...let the good times roll!!!! lol Hope you guys have a safe trip and enjoy some of our little restaurants that jrod and i mentioned to you.
  17. I was thinkin more along the lines of Kumbaya! I think it's just a mutual respect thing goin on. First time the two have played. Big conference game. Personally...i've kind of enjoyed it! I'm not a big fan of smack talk. To each their own though.
  18. Yeah, because he had a pretty good spring and was lookin pretty good. But like i said, hopefully he will be back and at least get to play out one or two games. Ok, so i've put this off and put this off, but I'm ready to make my prediction. I'm gonna say that CG plays their butts off, but that G'ville will probably be too much for them to handle. I am going to say that it will be closer than the experts think tho...at least i hope it is! CG - 21 G'ville - 31 I hope I'm wrong of course!!!! Hope you guys have a safe trip down and i hope we all can enjoy a great ballgame!
  19. I'm assuming you are referring to Whitt Willis...our #1 receiver from last year. And no he will not play. He had surgery on a torn labrum in early july. He would have really helped our team out this year as he was by far our most consistent receiver and an animal on defense and a senior. It's sad that he's had to miss his senior season. Hopefully he will be cleared by the final week and at least get to play in week 10 and if CG is lucky, in the playoffs. I think everybody is healthy in the CG camp. I think they already had their bouts with the flu bug a couple of weeks ago. It hit them hard!! Anyway, that's the lowdown on the injury front to the best of my knowledge unless something has happened this week...which wouldn't be a surprise considering how this year has went! lol
  20. I think mathematically, that is possible, but I'm not 100% sure. If that's the case, I hope it happens to somebody. It might be the best wake-up call TSSAA could hear. Better yet, I have another idea. Since TSSAA is made up of 95% educators and not experienced athletic administrators, why don't we just replace the Tennessee Department of Education with athletic directors and coaches. Seems to me that would make about as much sense. Please don't misinterpret what I'm saying. I'm all about education, however the academic section should be managed by educators and the athletic body should be managed by athletic administrators or a balanced mix of the two. It has seemed to work at the college level for years. I'm just sayin', but who am I? Amen. T$$AA has no clue what is best for the teams...its all about the all mighty $. That's why there are 6 classes in a state that doesn't have enough schools for 6 classes. Extra state championship game= extra dollars in someone's pocket.
  21. The only thing that's guaranteed is 1 4a team since there are 3 of them...and 2 3a teams since there are 4 of them. The rest is anybody's guess. I have a feeling nobody will know who got in, where they will play and who they will play until the saturday morning of Oct. 31st. It's gonna be a mess with a lot of people mad and a lot of people scrambling around that day. T$$AA will get blasted. Just wait and see. Region 1 doesn't have a guaranteed playoff spot as they only have 1 4a team...Sullivan North. If we have 4a teams finish 1 and 2 could we bump them out completely and have region 3 in the playoffs? Barb i believe that's a question only the "brains" in Nashvegas can answer. And I bet a million bucks if you asked them...they wouldn't give you a straight answer because they haven't got a clue.
