  1. thank you sir... I am not die hard fan of either program but I do respect the traditions that both programs have established over the years... teh fan base of both schools are to be commended!!!!
  2. here are few more names... teh oaks brothers (mark and david) two more of teh lester boys (stan and brent) tony cowboy johnson gary moser eugene spurlock (went to small college in kentucky and made little all-american team) john mefford (signed with ole miss but ended up at carson newman) rutherford brothers (jason and richard---richard played for a few years in the CFL as a DB) derrick marlow (transferred to corbin KY his senior year) josh nelson (DT at CN) justin heath (started at TE for CN just a couple of years ago) maybe i will think of a few more to add at a later time... most of you probably dont remember these names... just remember these were pretty decent players but their supporting cast was usually lacking somewhat....
  3. a team usually sends a dry ball (at least as dry as possible) after each play when it is rainy or if the field has become wet... a team manager is usually assigned this job to make sure teh offense has a dry ball in play... if it is raining theofficials usually cover the "new ball" with a towel as often as possible to keep it dry... if one watches the game a little more closely, one can pick up on these simple little parts of teh game...
  4. wasnt there to see teh celebration but you are correct... tehremaining schedule is a brutal one, especially for CC... are you coming to the CC-Bearden game??? its homecoming at CC.... I am sure the homecoming queen, her family, and friends will be happy with the end result if no else is...
  5. if that is your choice enjoy the paint.... we support our team win or lose (although itis usaully lose).... you shouldnt bash a program composed of young men who chose to repreent their school and community despite teh fact that they are expected to lose most of the time... if that is your attitude then you should find a PROphylactic and use it on yourself... if you cant say something nice then why say anything at all... all decent posters please excuse teh analogy...
  6. I wasnt referring to you as someone who might try to "poke fun at teh CC football program"... sorry if you took it that way... I was referring to anyone who might try to do so... sorry again if you misunderstood my statement... I will post a few more names later today as time permits... and your family in CC is??????
  7. I am somewhat confused... are you saying that your O-line coach is no good, has little or no experience... or are you saying that there is no one in teh position to coach the O-line... so what does the O-line do during individual drills... I find it hard to believe that Clinton can find no one to coach teh O-line... enlighten me/us please...
  8. okay, I have been away from the board for a couple of days so I havent had a chance to reply to this question... granted, CC is not the eitome of teh best of teh best but there ahve been several decnt if not good players to wear the Orange and Blue of CC... their names may not be so noticeable because of teh programs virtual lack of success... I have been around teh program in some form or fashion since day one... I will undoubtedly leave some names off but I will try to add to the list as time and my weak old mind permits... so here goes: Chris Johnson Zach Byrge Jamey Chadwell (transferred to AC after his junior year after his father was replaced as head coach at CC) Daniel Berry (also transferred to AC after junior year) Jason Goins Patrick Goins Tommy Miller Danny Rhymer The Price twins (Justin and Matt----also transferred to AC after their junior years) Mark Lester (may have been the best all around player ever at CC in my opinion ---played QB and MLB on a team that consisted of 15 players) Lee Lowe Casey Tackett Corey Overton Michael Green those are a few for starting out... I need some help from some of the other posters from CC with whom I converse occasionally.... I will try to add more as I think of them and as time permits.... and for those of you who are using this to poke fun at CC, get a life...we love and support our team just as much as we would if they were as successful as some of the other storied programs in this area...
  9. if you wondering who won I think the final was CC 21 UC 7 could be wrong but thats th escuttle here at CCHS I do know the cougs did win... May be next season before they get another one though
  10. I tried to find it too but could not.... I was trying to check out the score around 9 o clock or so and found nothng... i thouhgt maybe they had gotten all their balls too wet to play...LOL... seriously I have no idea what happened to the broadcast...
  11. hey JKar, my friend... been wondering where you have been... I totally agree with everything in your post... and i certainly hope that CC has dryer balls than UC...LOL!!! and a celebration like there is no tomorrow, unfortunately for CC teh way the schedule looks that is exactly what teh cougs are probably, or almot certainly. or without a reason to doubt, facing!!! but there is always hope... just gotta be like Slippery Rock University used to be... wait and live for that monent if and when it comes... hopefully earlier, but bet on next season!!!
  12. thanks for the insult (duh, sherlock)... I am trying to be a civil poster... keep yur insults to yourself... I didnt try to insult you or clinton in teh past.. all you had to say ws "maybe the coaches of UC held back in the jamboree... from what little I have read about the jamboree it appears taht did not hold everythng back completely... and yes CC seems to be much worse than last year... but posters often refer to what they can recall from teh previous season when talking about a future opponent... I dont know why I am trying to explain this to you ... I am sure that someone that has almost completed high school and defeated acne is super intelligent...
  13. like hm or not (amd I do )...LL is a good coach!!! DD hsould have been CC,, sorry about teh typo!!!
  14. have you seen Union county is a full length regulation game that included special team play... if you are basing this on UC's jamboree action you need to back up and thnk a wee bit... last year UC passed the cougs crqzyfor a half but the cougs responded with a wild running in teh second half to win.. it was still somewhat close though... if UC still has the same QB they have a chance.. but sodoes CC in this matchup... a loss here by CC could be teh last real chance for a win by CC this season... coaches usually hold back some in jamborees... some do, some dont... should be a close game... I didnt say exciting, but close...
  15. the talent level in campbell county has been down for a couple of years or so... therefore teh recruiting base has been virtually empty... clinton fans shuld be aware about the overall lack of taleny in DD since they hae played CC the past three years...
  16. I am quite sure that al lest 99.999999999999999999999999999999999% of coaches (if not more) teach their players that the second (the one that retaliates) is the one tht usually gets caught.. and that is a fact !!!!!!!!!!!!!
  17. you knew that they would go in overconfident and still you predicted a blowout (something like 28 points at one time I believe)... so who was more overconfident---you or teh team... I was quite surprised at teh outcome to say the least... I thought the drags would win this one but then again I was basing this on whatr I saw at teh CC game... teh cougs must be worse than I thought...
  18. by the way JKar... the call in show is history... not because of lack of fan interest though... was just time to fade into teh background for me... my son (voltimessportseditor) and a friend revived it for a while but they too folded teh tents after last football season... I think I have retired from fan-dom and teh public for awhile... but then again, maybe not!!!
  19. the dragons looked pretty darn good in the first half vs CC... cant say much about after that... I left!!! they are definitely on the way back... dont how close they are but they are much better than they have been in the past to or three years... I am not sure about wins over halls and powell, but I am pretty sure they can handle lenoir city and south doyle...
  20. Me and my gal (along with 3 grandchildren and three neighberhood young 'uns) headed out on a venture friday tosee the cougs and the drags... it was over after the first quarter...then the drags hit two quick scores before halftime...we hit the exits, took the kids to the sonic for ice cream and headed to the farm... looked like teh cougs lost their spirit very quickly friday night... not sure if this a team thing but it didnt look too good friday night.. congrats to the drags on the win...they appeared to be on teh way back to oldtime clinton football...they arent there, have a ways to go, but there are on the right track...good luck toone of my favorite all time football programs (clinto dragons)...hope theopen date helps my home team the cougs get unnerved and ready to seek a win against union county...after that it loks like a long season... and yes we got puters in CC, just not much to post about...
  21. the dragons have played two very worthy opponents... winning 6 in a row could prove to be very challenging and not vey likely---possible but not very likely... a win over CC looks promising for clinton IF THEY PLAY WITH THE SAME INTENSITY!!! if they take the cougars too lightly then the Cougs could register their second win of the season... clinton should be favored and probably will be... if teh Cougs fall behind early they have to continue to play hard or it could turn into a run away... so friday night we will have two teams looking for a much needed win... teh losing team will be facing desparate times... teh winners will be feeling good about themselves for teh stretch run... should provide for an exciting matchup... lots of incentive for both teams... if one tem looks past the other it could get ugly... teh only prediction here is that it makes for a good matchup of two teams still searching for respect and identity for this season... I will be pulling for the cougars but I have lots of friends who will be in the stands pulling for the dragons...
  22. didnt see any of it JKar...saw teh score and read the newspaper article...must have been quite a show... believe it or not I havent seen any high school football at all this year...wait I take that back..i watched teh first two series of teh CC/lenoir city game on teh tape at WLAF/Channel 12 (where I work parttime)...thats all I have seen thus far...hope to catch the CC/clinton game next week though... things seem kinda quiet intne halls of CCHS this season...see the players in their jerseys on game day but that is about it...
  23. David clary...what a great person...congrats on teh induction...it is muchly deserved...you helped us (wlaf/channel 12---campbell county) so many times when I was working teh air waves...YOU are another member in a long line of Oak Ridge legends!!!
  24. JKar is very accurate with his "CC stats"... CC opened in teh early 70's not really sure of the year... will have to do a little research on that one... I do remember that I had been in teh CC school system three years when it opened... that would make around '73... help me out VTimes Editor..
  25. my mamma has a fish with a glass eye but she doesnt live in oak ridge or clinton...she used to work in oak ridge ... I really like both programs and have for many many years... like I posted earlier (I think) I was there the last time clinton beat oak ridge... I havent been to an oak ridge-clinton game since... and I wont be there this time either... therefore clinton will not win... sorry dragon fans... by teh way momma's glass eyed fish is for sale on ebay if anyone is interested.. ps teh fish has a red worm in its glass eye...
