  1. Wasn't there to see this one, but my Greenback insider suggests there was some speculation on the extra point after Greenback's touchdown. I'm sure it was a hard-fought game, regardless. Both Greenback and G-P have some hard-nosed kids. Greenback seems to have a tough time starting games all year. The only game I've seen them really execute extremely well in the first half was against Oneida. If they were to play like they did against Oneida, they would be hard to handle against a few certain top-tier teams! HEYOH ---------- NO JOKE
  2. Is this what we're going to have to call the "Super 7" now that Briarcrest is moving to DII AAA? Not so bad... ...heyoh... -------- NOTHING WITTY TO SAY
  3. Yes! On one hand, this particular gentleman mentioned nothing of a state championship, simply stating that the "playoffs will be fun." On the other...Well, hmm, I only have one arm, it seems! Just joking. It simply means I can't think of anything else to say, that's all. HEYOH -------------- DID YOU SEE THAT
  4. Wow, was I glad I was in attendance for this one. 28 points in the first quarter alone! Lots of hard hitting, I thought I was going to get hit from up in the stands, and that's incredibly ridiculous in its own right! Great job Greenback. On a side note, is that player from Oneida okay? Looks like he may have suffered a concussion, from what I hear, and those don't feel good! They are tough players. Greenback, you make us Blount Co folks proud. Because, you know, we don't have that small school to claim for ourselves, so we just use you folks. Thanks! Your check is in the mail! HEYOH ------------- VISIT TSSAA.ORG
  5. No it can't! But don't bother going on, because I will not read what you have to say! But hold on a second! There's nothing wrong with that! Both in the sense that I don't feel like responding to, "SER, U R A MOREN MERYVIELE SI BETTAR" and due to the fact Maryville is known for having a team with tons of depth that spreads the ball around, thanks to a great coaching staff (That's three things, go on and find them in my elusive wording). How do you think they beat Hillsboro last time they won state? I suppose I should mention, I tried my best to eliminate any sort of mistakes in the previous sentences, as I fear the grammar police! HEYOH -------------- ORANGE MOUND--'BORO BOUND
  6. WOW what a thread! This is awfully impressive! So THIS is the reason Maryville fans are so disliked? Hey, what am I saying? I like Ron, and mhs. This guy, well, this is just amazing. Not to mention the fellow with the Lynx in his signature? He is walking a thin-line, I assure you..! What can I say, I don't trust a person who likes the dreaded lynx! Nonetheless! I'd like to see Maryville win so they could probably play Rhea Co. first round and LOSE! However unlikely that is, Hammontree and Quarles, wow, that would be a great time! Lots of memories. "Hey, Tim, remember when you won that Championship in '98?" A GREAT TIME. Maryville wins this due to depth, and the play up front. I don't think Maryville is as, say, aggressive on D, they just get everyone over there to swarm the ball. Not to mention the precise technique on offense! Wow! Too bad for them there's a team from Orange Mound going to win state! HEYOH ----------- STICKS AND STONES, SIRS
  7. Good to see them rebound from a loss! Wish I were there (Like the Pink Floyd song). With Maryville having the night off, I was expecting to travel down to The Nation (deserves capital letters!), but work was calling me...literally! And what's more, my answering machine was full! Honestly, with all those piled up messages, it wouldn't stop ringing! My boss figured this out, and was he persistent! 8 rings before I scooped it up. Of course, he questioned my absence (because of the number of rings, no doubt), but luckily I had an ace up my sleeve. But hey, that's another story altogether! HEYOH ----------- ...YEAR AFTER YEAR
  8. A true fan! HEYOH ------------ JUST JOKING
  9. Tradition is a great thing to have, isn't it? Everyone knows you're good, which is just AWESOME! But how good? Who knows? You won't until week nine, is the bad thing! Maybe even until the semi's. The Chatanooga area teams are sketchy this year. People know MAryville is good. People expect them to go to state. I know I do! And of course a "Tim Helm-ed" Rhea Co. is going to be tough, and I know TN High is crazy, insane, HARD. And you've always got Central... But uh, haven't played them yet, have you? There's just no basis of how good they are right now! There's no rubrick to go by, like there is with certain teams out West right now.. HEYOH -------- STOP RINGING
  10. I'll bet you a million dollars they won't! Watch as TSSAA puts White House in Regions 1-4 just to smite me for being a smart aleck! Go ahead, Ronnie, see what else you can mess up! HEYOH --------- WE LOVE YOU RONNIE
  11. I can see it now! TEAMS THAT PLAY GOOD TEAMS NO LONGER ANY GOOD THEMSELVES By: Maryville Rebels MARYVILLE, TN--It was discovered this past Tuesday afternooon that West TN teams who have opponents that play like them aren't any good, and don't pose a threat to a Maryville team who doesn't play anyone at all. Apparently, these teams aren't disciplined, either, nor do they execute on both sides of the ball. Ho ho! A great article for the Daily Times, wouldn't you say? Don't make me write a follow-up! Last time Maryville won state, they didn't outplay Hillsboro. They outcoached them. Teams out in West TN are hungry to beat Maryville. Teams in East TN are ungry to beat Maryville. Maryville has to wait until week nine or playoff time to really get a test, unlike these teams in West TN who are beating up on one another. Hopefully they can hold on to tradition, right? ...Zing! What else can I say? Maryville is good, but they were doing the same thing Melrose was last year--Sitting at home! In my beautiful hazel eyes, Maryville needs to prove itself a bit more. Are they definitely going to state? Almost positive. Winning it, on the other hand..! Look at what Huntingdon did to Lipscomb last year! Athletes are good to have! I have a knack for these long, unimportant posts, huh?! HEYOH ------------ HAMMER TIME IS UPON US

Some of these teams aren't in the Chattanooga area! Your poll has no place here. Rest assured, it will be forgiven, but not forgotten. HEYOH ----------------- HAVING FUN IS #1
  13. Let Mr. Joke be serious for a moment. Maryville is a top 5 team. I'd probably go to lengths to say a top 3 team. ...But they are not #1 in all classifications this year. I love Maryville, being a Blount Co. native, and I always wish them the best of luck. Maryville, Alcoa, Greenback. Heck, sometimes I even give Heritage and William Blount a shot. But to say that they are #1 in the state *right now*, I think you have to look at yourselves and be say, "Hmm, maybe that's not the case!" They've played no one so far, due to being in one of the weaker 4A regions, and won't really be tested until week nine (Knox Central) or the playoffs (TN High/Rhea Co with Tim at the helm). Maryville is good, everyone knows that. We don't need crazed Maryville fans to tell us that every other post. But we won't be saying, "Oh, so they're that good this year, huh" for another few weeks. On a side note, isn't it amazing that the things you stated to make them look good, actually can be twisted to prove that they may, in fact, not be the best team in the state?! If you're going to be convincing, don't say a 2A team hung with them, and don't mention that whole, "losing in the state semifinals" thing! HEYOH ------------ REBUILDING YEAR FOR HERITAGE, HONESTLY
  14. Great thread. So many things! I'll just copy what everyone else is doing. The lack of parking The "other" team's fans that sit on the home team's bleechers $7 for a playoff game Waiting for your Freshman kid that doesn't play to get out of the locker room I hate to love it! HEYOH ----------- /X\(,,)/X\ WATCH OUT
  15. Woah, was I on the money or what? A reply which bleeds bizarre rage and unprovoked fury! Atlantic City is calling me, but first, be honored that I'd reply to your post! First off, Melrose has plenty of playoff appearances, a few state titles, and I'd go to lengths to say the sheer name recognition that Maryville does...just a little lower, and mostly around West TN. Now, if you recall, I never said Melrose was better than Maryville, I was just pointing out what seemed to be an ironic point of view in the sense that this particular Melrose team hasn't proven themselves this year *THUS FAR*. The addition of asterisks means emphasis, ladies and gentlemen! But you are correct, Maryville has more playoff appearances, more state titles, but who's to say Melrose hasn't proven themselves this year? Certainly not you! Now, as far as what Melrose can do to beat Maryville, who knows. They can pull a Morristown West last year, a Morristown West the year before, and, in my opinion, a Hillsboro the last time Maryville won state, and outplay them (Maryville). You act as if it can't be done! Insanity! There are a few better teams in 4A than Knox Central this year (Maryville's toughest challenge), and I believe Melrose might be one of them! You right, sir, I haven't proven myself this year. I'm behind on the car payment, I thought Mrs. Joke and myself were cool on buying the boat, but that fell through, and the layoffs at work have caused a lot of rescheduling problems, of which I, and only I, have to deal with. Don't worry about me, though, I have tremendous job security. Melrose, on the other hand, has defeated a couple of great teams. If you read my previous post, you may be able to understand this. As for kicking bass and me looking at things, that's fine and dandy, but the bottom line is Maryville is the team to beat this year, no doubt about it. But to say Melrose may not be equally as capable, you could wind up being sadly mistaken. By the way, you must type on your keyboard harder to get your point across! ho ho! HEYOH ------------ HERE IS YOUR TURBO LOVER
  16. Talk about proving yourselves! Maryville has played, hmm, let's see: A rebuilding Morristown West team They played alright against a pretty good Powell team! They played, uh, Halls! 0 - 6 William Blount! (I thought WB was at least decent, then they lost to Farragut) I'd honestly go the lengths to say that the best team Maryville has played is Alcoa, but hey, who knows? Or cares! Flipping it around....Melrose has played, and beaten: A VERY good 5A team in Whitehaven A Briarcrest team that dominated Christian Brothers And...uh...Wooddale. Don't forget...Hamilton? Nonetheless!! Your lack of knowledge concerning West TN football (as cluttered and no-named as it may be) still doesn't label Melrose as needing to prove themselves. And hey, they've won a few state championships too, you know. In the mean-time, I guess this Blount-County native should be on the lookout for mean comments from Maryville fans! To them, I say bring it on! Be sure to type on those keyboards very hard, to get your point across! HEYOH ------------- I LOVE MARYVILLE FOOTBALL, HONESTLY
  17. Mt. Pleasant is the real deal this year! I should know, because of the financing options I got on them! But seriously, folks, look for a Pleasant surprise in the playoffs. Wayne Co. should watch out. Great athletes, good runners, more receivers than Bell South! HEYOH -------- THIS WAS NO JOKE
  18. WOW you've really got a knack for picking things in all the wrong order! Farragut at 2? Oak Ridge at 8? Where's Gallatin or Antioch? DB at 5? Hmm... !*STUPID POSTERS FOR WEEK 7:*! 1. ChrisBurr555555 HEYOH ------------------ GOLD BALL WINNER IN 2A: ?
  19. I'm a joke? No, YOU'RE joke! Neener neener. All joking aside, if you like to look at your everyday polls and rankings, DON'T. They use a form of common opponent as a basis of comparision. So when <your team here> is having a blast at the No 1 spot, take it as a grain of salt, okay? You got me? HEYOH ------------- WEBB
  20. Common opponent is a valid form of comparision if the correct circumstances are taken into consideration. As with anything, it helps to know a little bit about the teams and whatnot. Hard to write the funny stuff late at night, huh? Michael Richards, Ladies and Gentleman! HEYOH ----------- FRANKLIN HIGH
  21. Oh, what a game. WHAT A GAME, WHAT A GAME. I'm going to have to pick the Cherokees over the Green Wave, 31-14. Greenback has too many weapons, Midway just has the refs. HEYOH --------------- GOOD LUCK POLK COUNTY
  22. Considering you have no "game" or "talent" or...something... to turn on, right?! HEYOH --------- MEMPHIS MELROSE HAS THE WINNING EDGE
  23. Cloudland was good because of a big line and Byrd. They all had heart, and never quit. No matter what you say, you just can't coach having heart. You either got it, or you don't. Of course, their lack of a secondary eventually caught up with them against CAK last year. Lunsford who? On a related note.. Unaka won't go anywhere but home come the first round of the playoffs. Face it, Region 1, the weakest in the state, will be swept by a much stronger region 2. Glad this has been cleared up.
  24. What is this thread about? Oh yeah. I don't care, here's a synopsis of region 2-1A: Hmm, Coalfield isn't too shabby, I mean. Midway is good. Greenback's good. Oneida is pretty good, too. Oakdale is bad. CAK, they're better than 1-4. Sunbright is better than Oakdale, but isn't that great. TSD doesn't play other region teams. I assume they could give Oakdale a game. In conclusion, Coalfield isn't too shabby, but they are admittedly shabbier than the afforementioned "good" teams. Well, except for maybe Oneida, because, you know, they beat them. They will lose the region, manage to make the playoffs, but ultimately lose to Greenback or Oneida this time, etc. HEYOH ------ SCIENCE HILL IS GREAT
