  1. The strength of schedule poll does not take into account out of state games in their rankings. RE could have scheduled a bunch of "crippies" to pad the record but chose instead to play a challenging schedule. Hopefully the team and the players grow from this level of competition and it will show come tournament time. Tue: Bartlett 13-3 Fri.: Milwaukee Rufus King (Ranked #4 in Wisconsin) Sat.: Possibly Oregon So. Medford (Ranked #10 in the nation, #1 in Oregon) Sun: Possibly Florida Lake Howell (Ranked #5 in the nation, #1 in Florida) Tue: Cordova (on the road) Thu.: Bolton 11-3 (on the road) Fri: Craigmont 9-2 (on the road) Sat: MS. N.E. Lauderdale (on the road) RE has already defeated Liberty (ranked #1 in AA), Briarcrest (ranked #2 in Div. II), Wooddale (8-2), White Station (9-4), Overton (7-3); won the BayBall Classic defeating Simon Gratz, NY Lincoln, and RI St. Andrews. Compare this schedule to ANY other team's in Tennessee. Going undefeated in this level of competion is impossible so don't expect RE's record to reflect this team's ability.
  2. Raleigh Egypt lost to Ridgeway after a 2 WEEK layoff and Ridgeway has a very good team. As Treefifty said Vashon is VERY strong with all their players back. They lost their games early without them. Don't look for them to lose again. Raleigh Egypt BEAT Liberty, the team you're considering for #1 in AA. Also, RE WON the national division of the BayBall Classic by defeating Simon Gratz, Abraham Lincoln And St. Andrews. Re also beat Briarcrest over the holidays who will be one of the top teams in Division II. If you look at RE's schedule and the other contenders' schedules, there is no comparison as to the difficulty night in and night out. RE only has the two losses...one by three and one by five. Vote for whomever you wish but at least vote objectively. The AP polls are ALWAYS skewed and biased so it has lost credibility with most fans.
  3. If I'm not mistaken, Craigmont played in a tournament in Chicago over the holidays? Does anyone know the results of their games?
  4. On the master MIAA schedule it shows Ridgeway playing in a tournament in Gary IN, over the holidays. Does anyone know the outcome of their games?
  5. Raleigh Egypt won the National bracket of the Bayball Classic by defeating St. Andrews of RI in the championship 72-70. They defeated Abraham Lincoln of NY by a score of 56-53 in the semifinals. Three outstanding wins over perennially strong programs.
  6. Liberty has a very good team, nobody is denying that. They may even go undefeated the REST of the season and repeat as state champs...more power to them. We wish them the best. The ONLY reason I raised the issue of the Hall-of Fame game, is that the Liberty fans were sooo vocal and ugly about the game last year which Liberty won, (in which I felt our team was hosed by the referees but didn't complain because I didn't think our team played all that great anyway and probably deserved to lose). We had to hear about that all year long. Had you not crowed and complained so much last year you wouldn't be hearing about it this year. Besides, this topic is old news now so let's both move on. I don't figure Raleigh Egypt is going to go undefeated this year so when that first loss comes, this topic will be mute anyway.
  7. Liberty did however count their win over Raleigh Egypt last year in their record, so Raleigh Egypt is counting its WIN over Liberty in its record this year. "What's fair IS fair"!
  8. Jeff Thanks a million for the service you're providing for the young people of Tennessee and Thanks again for the wonderful coverage you gave to Raleigh Egypt and Maurice Miller in your latest issue.
  9. Game was postponed due to technical difficulties with the clock. It has been rescheduled for next Thursday.
  10. Why was Ral-Egypt left off the undefeated teams' list? Still 6-0
  11. This game has been postponed and rescheduled for Thursday due to technical difficulties with the clock.
  12. These are but a few websites that show national polls for high schools. If you're aware of others, add them to this site. http://www.prepnation.com/poll/poll.cfm?poll=2&latest=1 http://sportsillustrated.cnn.com/2006/high...1127/index.html http://studentsports.Unapproved Website/content.asp?CID=605478

  14. Trader B You make a fair assessment of Raleigh Egypt's team this year. Not having seen the other teams in this ranking however, it is impossible to know how the Pharaohs stack up against them on the court. It is my understanding that the ranking is based on #1 - The strength of the program; (Ral-Egypt over the past seven seasons has gone 214-39; that's a seasonal win AVERAGE of 31-5 over SEVEN years); #2 - The strength of the schedule; (Ral-Egypt Plays in two National Tournaments, The Bay Ball Classic in Delaware and the Bass-Pro in Springfield, MO, and plays one of the toughest regular season schedules in the state with teams like: White Station, Craigmont, Ridgeway, Wooddale, Overton, Briarcrest (all ranked in the Dandy Dozen), Bolton, Bartlett, Kirby. Out of town matches with Jackson's Liberty, Vashon,MO, and Nettleton, MS, also. #3 - Success of season thus far; So far Raleigh Egypt is 5-0 #4 - Caliber of player in the program Over these past seven years, Ral-Egypt has produced nine DI players (including Moe Miller this year) and two more will sign DI in the Spring. Last Season the Pharaohs went 35-2 and returned thirteen of fifteen players from that team. The two new players added this year are Sophomore Gentry Hines and Freshman Ronald "Tank" Brown, (both are nationally ranked in their age group). There is a lot of season left to play and you're probably right that the Pharaohs are not an overpowering team, but based on the criteria, I believe they're due some recognition. This was the same criteria that got Bartlett, White Station and Hamilton ranked nationally.
  15. Don't know how anyone could get beneath you-you're about as low as you can get. Icy, you seem to know what you're talking about, BTW beating Hamilton by 20pts is impressive. Don't get into a battle of wits with Nebuntyn...he's an unarmed man.
  16. No...they didn't beat themselves. They were worn out when they missed their free throws from a hard fought, physical game and who do you think caused those turnovers? Those are just excuses. Agreed that Liberty is a great team but I'm not going to sit by and let you say that Raleigh Egypt was just lucky to beat them. Raleigh Egypt almost beat themselves by getting off to a bad start, but when the game was on the line...Raleigh Egypt came back from being behind a lot to win. (The mark of a good team) And while we're at it...Liberty crowed to high heaven last year when they beat Raleigh Egypt in a hall of fame game and all of you put on this website how ridiculous it was that those games could or could not be counted. Why is it that this year you continue to claim to be undefeated if you truly feel that way?
  17. Liberty may have the second best starting five in the state, but you keep overlooking the fact that they LOST to Raleigh Egypt.
  18. The Commercial Appeal's Dandy Dozen is a regional poll which includes references to Mississippi teams and Arkansas teams as well as area private schools. The bulk of the poll is usually memphis teams but they do include Desoto County as part of their readership.
  19. Gentry Hines from Raleigh Egypt is equal to these two at his position but is having to come off the bench behind Maurice Miller and Caleb Brown, two senior guards that are outstanding. When he gets his turn, he will also be outstanding. His performance on the AAU circuit and the exposure camps have him ranked in the top 100 in the nation.
  20. When is this game between Liberty and Oak Hill and where is it being played?
  21. For the moment. Big showdown Friday night at White Station. Both teams undefeated.
  22. Is this thread about AA undefeated teams? In AAA, Raleigh Egypt is 4-0; White Station is 7-0; Briarcrest is 7-0...not sure about others in memphis.
  23. I talked to Chris last night and he wasn't sure, but indicated it would be January at best and may be out for the season.
  24. There was a real barn burner last night at White Station. The Spartans defeated Hamilton by a score of 97-91. This despite not having Chris Downey (knee injury), and having four starters foul out. Congratulations to Coach Jesus Patino for a job well done. This same White Station team took Liberty to the wire earlier this year but ended up losing by three with all five starters fouling out. They are a fun team to watch and will have a great year. Look for them to be in the mix come tournament time.
